Product Version Adobe Indesign 20.0 On Windows 11 Pro 24H2 The bottom bar in which pages can be created, deleted and alternative layouts created is overlaid by the text with the number of pages and print sheets on the left-hand side when collapsed. As a result, the buttons can no longer be operated correctly. <Title renamed by MOD>
Hello, after solving several problems with datamerge in indesign i have a (hopefully) last one:I want to place multiple Elements on one page. To be exact: There should be 10 on each page. (5 rows, 2 coloumns) Due to an issue i dont know there are only 4 Elements placed in one coloumn. Then the next page is started - again 4 elements on the page. The right coloumn and the 5th line of the first coloumn are not used.I did not find any answer so far. I need urgent help.
When I open the color picker to adjust a shade, I usually automatically do so in HSB, since I usually want a lighter or darker shade of what I'm working on. But if I don't actually click on the radial buttons for the HSB value I'm working on, InDesign will give me some wild colors! It seems to be confusing HSB and RGB somehow--but I don't know why or how, since I'm editing in the HSB boxes. As an example, let's say I want a darker version of this blue: So I'm going to go to brightness and reduce it to 50%. This is what I get: Like I said, if I toggle the button to "B" instead of where it starts out in"R," it's snapps back and starts behaving again: It's not a huge problem, but it's still kind of annoying. Does anyone else experience this? <Title renamed by moderator>
I think this wast´t a topic already. I have three questions conserning the Color Management Policies in Indesign.Given that the color profile from a JPG placed into an Indesign dokument is different than the profile in the color settings: - convert to working Space: The profile stays attached to the JPG- preserve embedded profiles: The profile stays attached to the JPG- off: The JPG profile is converted to the working space- CMYK, Preserve numbers (ignore linked profiles): The JPG profile is converted to the working space 1.) Shouldn`t the profile under "convert to working space" be also converted?2.) We have three, in case of CMYK, four different options, but only two different outcomes. What`s the difference between them?3.) When I check "ask when pasting" I don´t get a dialog when I drag and drop JPGs into Indesign. I thought that´s what it´s for. Thanks for your help.
I'm an experienced InDesign & GREP user, and experienced in Bengali typesetting. But I've encountered an issue I can't solve. I have some Unicode Bengali text (converted from ANSI encoding) with some invisible characters hindering the correct formation of the characters. When I cut & paste the problem word into Find/Change, it renders it as ~I in GREP (or ^I in 'Text'). But when I search for either of these characters, or even for the text I just copied, it cannot find it. When I copy the offending text into another software and then cut & paste it back, the offending characters are removed. My questions are:1. What are these invisible problematic ~I/^I characters?2. How can I remove them with InDesign's Find/Change?I've included a screenshot here and attached a sample file.
Can't install Indesign 6 or 8--the labeling is ambiguous--on my Windows 11 machine. Adobe help is no help. I get this error: <Title renamed by MOD>
I'm producing labels for museum gallery objects. We are printing them on adhesive vinyl with peel off back (i'm not sure what the correct term is at the moment). We pay for the labels by the sheet. It costs the same whether I get 2 or 6 labels on an 8.5 x 11 sheet. We get anywhere from 10 to 200+ of these labels print at a time so you can imagine it can be a challenging puzzle to maximize the use of space in order to minimize the wasted space on each sheet. It is essentially the same issue that people using laser cutters or CNC routers run into. The material is too expensive to let any real estate go unused unless necessary. Is anyone aware of a plugin or script that can process a document and move text boxes or objects around to the most economical arrangement possible? I could also produce these labels in Illustrator if this issue cannot be addressed within InDesign.Thank you in advance for you advice!Brandon
Indesign 2025 will open files made in the 2023 version but won't open the files I made in 2024 version just a month ago. And don't tell me to install the older version. I have the older version and yes I can use it. But I would prefer to use the newer version moving forward. I have a project that I continually update which took me a long time to make. I am not going to remake the whole thing in InDesign 2025 just because of some stupid bug. Please fix it.
I use Indesign mainly for redundant document with text variables. Each time, i need to : - open a template file - save to a new file - edit manually all text variables with the edit variable panel (mainly text variables) Is there a way to improve this workflow ? I'm looking for specifically a method that would allow me to import the text variables from a csv file. It would be this kind of file : variable-1, content variable-2, content Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks <Title renamed by MOD>
I received a set of InDesign files and an associated Links folder containing linked content. The main story flow of the InDesign document is linked from a Microsoft Word document in the Links folder. This is not how I would have set it up, but it is what it is. I guess the author wanted to continue modifying text after layout and was unwilling to learn how to use InCopy. Now that I have received this package as zip file package, I need to set it up to start working on it in my local evironment. When I open the InDesign file, it tells me all the links need to be updated. If I select the option to Update Links, all of the paragraph styles for the text linked from the Word document go haywire. How do I prevent this from happening? Correct paragraph styles, but with out-of-date links: Updated links, resulting in overwritten paragraph styles. All paragraphs get overwritten with whatever paragraph style happens to be selected in the paragraph styles menu: Is there a way t
I am printing a brochure with facing pages, some where photos and graphic elements span both pages. With "Facing Pages" turned on, the two pages align perfectly. However, my printing service requires that I print each page separately with a .125 inch bleed on all four sides of the page. This is easy enough. I turn off the "facing pages" in DOCUMENT SETUP then extend my color and graphic bleeds on all four sides. When printed and after cutting, the pages and elements will line up perfectly. My problem is when I then turn on "Facing Pages" again just to see how the brochure will look, the elements of the inner bleed overlap one another. In preview mode for single pages, the bleed is not shown on all four sides. Using preview mode with facing pages, I still see the "Bled elements" on the right hand side of the left page and the left hand side of the right page. Is there a way to create the bleed on all four sides of a single page that my printer requires but still be
I have multiple slides in my PDF which include audio files that are set up to start when the page is opened and end when one flips to the next slide. I have toggled off the enhanced security settings and enabled the multimedia player, etc. all solutions that can be found on this forum. For some reason, however, only the first audio file plays as intended. Subsequent slides with audio files do not play or even display in the PDF. When I flip back to the original slide that had working audio, it doesn't play again either. So after clipping all my audio files, I am only able to use one in a presentation and it is single-use for some unknown reason. Any advice would be appreciated. I would attach the file but much of the content is copyrighted or covered by non-disclosure. If needed I can reply to this post with a dummy file using audio on all slides for reference.
See attached image. Normally, when exporting a print file to PDF, I use the default crop mark offset, with success. However, for some reason, it is not only placing the crop marks at the bottom/left in the incorrect position, but it is allowing a hidden portion of the that image to be shown (see page 1 of the attached PDF). In fact, if I change the offset to .25", it actually lowers the print image, and exposes even more of a cropped image (see page 2).Admittedly, the original file was created in Canva, and provided to me with no actual bleed. I enlarged the image to provide at least a .0625 bleed.
I don't know why or how this happens, but my paragraph styling is showing up with two font sizes, one is corrrect, the other is in parenthesis. Image attached. How do I fix this?
When I open an InDesign file, it is locked into just one monitor and will not allow me to move it to another screen like my other Adobe programs. Does anyone know why it does this? <Title renamed by MOD>
I have just exported an indesign document to a pdf and it is 60MB. I would like it to be around 30MB if that is possible. Will I be able to reduce it down from indesign without drastically reducing the quality or is there a way to do iy after it becomes a pdf?***** Title renamed by Moderator "VS" *****
Hey everyone! I purchased a font that uses bitmap images instead of vectors. I'm having trouble getting it work on my Windows 10 machine. It works fine on my Mac. Basically the characters show up blank (see attached). Any ideas what causes this? I reached out to the seller and they don't know why this is happening. I've tried on different PCs, same results. <Title renamed by MOD>
Hi, I debut on InDesign and bit confused about printing pdf. Let me explain : I export normally (default settings) of my book in pdf. Now I open it in iPAD, so in VERTICAL I see one page, but in HORIZONTAL i should see 2 pages in spread, is that correct ? Because in HORIZONTAL with the iPAD I still see only one page. <Title renamed by MOD>
my control panel/paragraph, doesn't allow me to determine number of columns. Aldo i can't customize it to include themRecently i can't find it even in the properties panel. Indesign 2019. Any ideas? Thank you
After Publishing my InDesign document and making it password protected, the file looks corrupted (Just showing some polygons and shapes) when viewing it online. When I remove password protection, it is completely fixed. I am using the same link every time. I cant change the link because it is corporate. <Title renamed by MOD>
Hi everyone! we have thousands of INDD files on our servers and mostly export PDF from these INDD files to a hotfolder on a shared network drive. So if you hit cmd+E for export, the hotfolder path is the selected output folder, since it was last exported there. In the near future we will stop using this hotfolder and we rather want to export the PDF to the folder where the INDD file is saved at. Since we are using a multiple layer directory tree on our server it takes up a lot of time to change the output path to this folder manually - especially if it has to be done for every file. Does anybody have an idea how we can speed up the process or change the saved export location? Some keyboard shortcuts (macOS) may also help, but i dont know of any to jump to the folder where the INDD file is saved at (besides cmd+shift+G), because the INDD files are all in different file locations, the path you'd have to enter will always vary.
The new AI "Text to Image" tool is great but isnt useful if I cannot have control of the images. I need to ensure specific color profiles are used for print and am unable to create print files if links are "missing." Will this option be fixed?
