So, good color grain simulation is pretty hard to find, and a while back I came up with my own as a PS action, which is pretty good. (Optional) To give a better "pushed grainy color reversal film" look, increase saturation (even till unrealistic ... go look at E1600 +2/+3) and smooth image (texture -50 or thereabouts)Desaturate photo "-50" to avoid gamut problemsConvert to CMYKFor each channel:a) Camera Raw Filter: Grain Amount 100, Grain Size whatever (e.g. 30), Grain Roughness 100b) gaussian blur (to match grain size above)Convert back to RGBTurn saturation back up "+50" Et, voila! Now, obviously there is no reason this can't be done in Lightroom itself, as basically all of this is built in (no explicit gaussian blur but it's used everywhere internally). Here's an example up close and magnified. This is a nice clean digital photo run through the above action: For comparison, here is a scan of +2 pushed cross-processed expired E100-something:
Assisted Culling is now generally available in Lightroom ClassicTL; DR: Assisted Culling has graduated from Early Access to General Availability. It gives you a fast, reviewable first pass on large shoots: it surfaces your strongest frames and sets aside the obvious rejects, so you spend less time comparing near-duplicates. You stay in control: review everything, adjust the thresholds, and override any call. If you tried it back in October 2025, it's substantially more accurate now, especially for wedding, event, group, and portrait work. We'd love for you to give it another look and tell us what you think in this thread. What it does Open an album or collection, run a cull, and Assisted Culling analyzes your images against the criteria you choose: Subject Sharpness, Eye Sharpness, Eyes Open, exposure, and more. It marks Selects and Rejects, shows you why behind every call, and leaves the final decision to you. How far it's come since Early Access February 2026: Expanded from individ
Auto updated to LrC 15.5 on my MacBook Pro M3 Max last night. Came home from shooting a concert and the import dialogue would appear to function normally, but after hitting the actual button to import, nothing happened. It went back to the grid view, briefly the import status bar appeared in the top left then just as quickly disappeared. I tried different ways of doing it, enabling full disk access (already was set), copy vs convert to dng, even created a whole new catalog and did a hard reset on my computer. Same issue every time. Decided to downgrade to 15.4.1 through the creative cloud as I was able to recently import and edit on that version. Opened Lightroom back up and viola, everything worked just fine. Gonna stick on this version and disable automatic updates until I hear adobe fixes this.
Hi! How can I join the Lightroom beta program? I work at a company that assists photographers with post-production. Lightroom is foundational to our work, so I’m looking for a way to stay on top of upcoming releases. Thank you!
so LR connects with my camera, and can trigger capture and work on live view, but when I take a photo it wont show on LR or save the photo where I designated it. Lightroom classic is at 9.5.1R5ii firmware is 1.3.1on a macbook pro m4 max, tahoe 26.6.2
Title: Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 causes complete system shutdown/restart when selecting another photo during AI DenoiseDescription of IssueLightroom Classic 15.5.1 causes my Windows PC to suddenly shut down/restart when I select another photograph while AI Denoise is processing an image. The problem is highly reproducible.AI Denoise itself works correctly. I can process several RAW files consecutively and I have successfully completed a batch of four photographs. However, while Denoise is still processing, if I click another photograph in the filmstrip to select it, the computer suddenly shuts down/restarts.Simply hovering the mouse pointer over other photographs, which displays their preview in the Navigator, does NOT cause the problem. The shutdown occurs when another photograph is actually selected during Denoise processing.System Lightroom Classic: 15.5.1 Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT 6 GB AMD Software: Adrenalin Editio
Using LR Classic on a Mac. I copied my 4 TB (original RAW files) ext HD to an 8 TB SSEHD. How do I get the LR catalog to find the images on the new disc? I can move some folders individually. But others don’t seem to be successful. There must be an easier way to connect the new disc to the LR catalog.
Hola! Muchas gracias! Saludos.
Hello. I select a group of photos I've scanned - go to: Metadata / Edit capture time - I change the date ('Adjust to a specific date and time' is chosen under 'Type of adjustment') click change, but only some change to that new date. I think the ones that aren't changing are from a previous scan. I'm sure I haven't had this problem before.
i purchased LC. Ever since i started it has been a joke as to when classic wants to show up. really fed up with the situation.
Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 - Develop module very slow when moving between imagesLightroom Classic has become noticeably slow when moving from one image to the next in the Develop module. When I press the left/right arrow key to move to another RAW image, the new photograph appears, but the Develop controls, including the Basic panel, remain greyed out and unavailable for several seconds before becoming active. This makes editing large wedding galleries extremely slow, as the delay occurs repeatedly when moving through images.System:Windows 11NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti 8GB32GB RAMNikon D780 NEF filesLightroom Classic 15.5.1Camera Raw 18.5.1Troubleshooting already tested:Happens with a collection containing hundreds of photographs Also happens with a folder containing only 12 photographs Built Smart Previews and enabled "Use Smart Previews instead of Originals for image editing" - no improvement Disabled Smart Preview editing and used original RAW files - issue remains GPU acceleration enabled - iss

Hoping for some help. I am running the 15.5.1 updated version of LRC. All of a sudden today I am having issues with the brush feature when using masks. Both when I try to add a mask using a brush, but also when I select (e.g. ‘Subject’) and then try to use the brush to add or remove parts of the mask. When I try to remove a portion of the mask the brush doesn’t do anything. Interestingly, when I try to use the brush only, (with the show overlay box checked), it does not highlight the selection in the normal medium red color. It looks like there is a small hint of red from the brush, but it is barely visible and adjustments don’t seem to really have much effect. If I hit ‘create new mask’, then ‘select subject’ it highlights in a medium red just like it always has. The brush feature just doesn’t seem to do anything anymore. I’ve tested this brush issue with a radial gradient and a linear gradient, and the same issue, the brush does nothing anymore. I’ve tried restarting. This
HiMap module is not showing the map. (latest version LRC 15.5.1 release, camera raw 18.5.1) and I’m on Windows 11, with a triple 2k screens set-up. Everything else is working fine execpt for the Map screen.I already tried a few trick that I found on the internet, like relaunching Lightroom while being in the Library module instead of the Map module. I also tried delogging from Creative Cloud et relloging but the map still doesn’t show. My internet is working fine. Any idea what the problem could be and what should I do ? i use to have the map but do not anymore but I don’t realy know since when. ThanksBeatrice
This is a MacBook Pro M3. I just relinked many folders and Metadata panel says “File Not Found” - folder itself shows no error icon. Mix of Raw files and Jpegs, large library,
I have been away from my computer for over 6 months, and when I returned, after my 1st shoot, I tried to import a small amount of photos (only 207), and convert to DNG. But while the files seem to be on my catalog now, the progress bar is stuck on the ‘building smart previews’ function. I left it running last night and just ejected my CF card, because I needed it for a shoot today. Today (24+hrs later) I’m doing a 2nd import, and the smart previews from yesterday still aren’t built, and now I have to do another import of today’s shoot, so there’s 3 progress bars running, with no end in sight for yesterday’s import. How do I get the imports to complete fully, and stop getting stalled or bogged down at the build smart previews stage?
So been using wd passports for some time no issue. The last one after finishing edit in lrc, i go to the “edit in ps” option.ps opens but not the images.gone back to old drives to test and it workes. So guessing it is something with permissions or bug on the new one….? Anyone experienced this?
I've been using Lightroom for 10 years now and I still love the program. I don't do many VFX tweaks and barely use photoshop for event photos. But I would love if Adobe can allow you to choose and adjust polychromatic film grain, not just monochromatic. Film doesn't have monochromatic grain unless it's B&W. Also would love a Halation effect. Something that you can adjust color, brightness, bloom, softness, etc. Does anyone else want this?
I am trying to change a whole lot of virtual copies to ‘set copy as original’ in one go for Lightroom Classic on PC. I know the standard way; select image > photo > ‘set copy as original’ - but this can only do one at a time.I have discovered if you select all the virtual copies to change, you can leave out the selection step which speed the process up by a fair bit. The step goes as follow: select all virtual copies so they are highlighted > photos drop down > ‘set copy to original’;now instead of selecting the next virtual copy, adobe deselects the converted virtual copy automatically, and you can go straight back to the photo drop down > ‘set copy to original’ without needing to selecting the next copy, and continue this till all selected copies have been converted. unless there is another quicker way I am missing?
Recently I moved all my photos to one external hard drive. I created a new LR classic catalog. I added my photos (29,000) to my LR classic catalog. All were added. Now, when I try to open LR Classic all I get is the spinning color wheel.
Recently both of my Canon 5D4s (latest firmware; 14.0) began presenting with new bugs when tethering to my Macbook M5 Max (lates OS; OSX Tahoe 26.6.2) using Lightroom (lastest version; 15.5.1).Until 3 or 4 weeks ago there were no problems and tethering to Lightroom was usually very smooth. Now as soon as a camera is connected to Lightroom control on the camera of White Balance, ISO and, most critically, Autofocus is lost. Control returns to the camera as soon as the connection is ended. I have tried with multiple cables and checked and rechecked all the obvious focus settings that might cause issues, as well as permission settings and USB access settings on cameras and Macbook etc. The problem is identical in all circumstances. This renders my ability to shoot professionally unviable. Is this a known new problem?Any suggested workarounds?Apart moving over to Capture One?
