I want to purchase Flash Streaming Server to stream FLV files and Flash encoding Server to allow users to upload files that can be encoded automatically to .FLV files. 1. Can .FLV files be downloaded in any way when pushed through Flash streaming server? 2. What file formats will the Flash encoding server encode? Are there limitations? 3. I do not understand what the purpose of Flash Interactive server is. Can someone please give me an example? Thanks!!!!
Hello All, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out with a little problem I'm having. I have an FMS2 serving up a few movies. I have a hand-built flex application ( very simple flv player) that is able to connect to the FMS and pull all the movies over RTMP. I have that code running on HTTP server. I have Flash CS3, which I'm trying to use their components to build a very simple movie player. When I go through the wizard, and put the RTMP url into the properties of the player, it doesn't work. I'm not a developer, I'm a system administrator, so I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong in CS3, but the Flex application can pull the movies fine. Anyone have any debugging suggestions? I've checked the FMS2 logs and I don't see any errors or even connection attempts. Thanks for the help, Andrew
I'm looking to stream videos that are already on the server in a playlist but stream them live, I mean how can I set the time of start of a video, I'm currently using the streams application from adobe. I want those videos start at certain time and then stop, not as VOD
There isnt any upgrade pricing plan listed within Adobe for FMS 1.5 to Flash Interactive Server (3.0)
Is F4V video tied to a particular version or point release? I am setting up an RTMP stream within a swf and it will not connect to the f4v file on the FMS server. Or is it something I have to change when authoring the video files?
Hi, I have two edge server and I config Vhost.xml as same but I can request streaming one edge. :::This my config <RouteEntry>*:* ; 192.168.1.10:1935</RouteEntry> -> Edge#1 = 192.168.1.11 -> Edge#2 = 192.168.1.12 -> Origin = 192.168.1.10 If I start edge#1 before edge#2 I can request stream from edge#1 but edge#2 it not work. If I start edge#2 before edge#1 I can request stream from edge#2 but edge#1 it not work. I try to check about max connection for edge server in vhost.xml at origin server but config is <MaxEdgeConnections>-1</MaxEdgeConnections> I don't know why about this ploblem. Thanks.
hi, i found after goggling that it is not possible in flash with actionscript to force the Microphone/Camera/NetStream classes to use a codec of your choice. It is, however, possible to transcode the resulting FLV from the server side to something that uses the 3GP container format and AAC for audio. I have successfully converted flash media server flv to 3gp with AAC codec that 3gp file is playing fine but it has one major problem that is of audio video synchronization that "video comes first and then audio". I am using ffmpeg higher version command line tool for this. how can we do so ? is there any solution for this problem? Thanks
Hi I installed FMS 3 (developer) on my Windows 2003 Web Edition.server online I booted the FMS 3 and it seems that it works correctly (I did the port scanner and is ok) But I can not see the live streaming applications. I followed the guidance of Tom Green http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/beginner_vod_fm3.html In local everything works, but in windows server 2003 does not see the movie: I see only the green bar. Please, someone has had similar problems to my and resolved? What should I do on Windows servers? The firewall is open on port 1395, but I do not have results. Also, if using Flash Media Encoder 2.5 (locally) and use <Stream to Flash media Server> after entering the username and password I have this error Primary - [ AccessManager.Reject ] : [ authmod=adobe ] : ?reason=needauth&user ... Someone can help me? Thank you
Hello, I have been trying to get an answer to my questions regarding FMS 3 but to no avail...hopefully someone can help me here.. I have a flash file and use JW Player as my player...I can stream inside my network. I have a changing IP address so I assigned 192.xx.x.xx to my server.. I use Apache for web server. I use the code for linking to the file and works great inside my network...How can i get this to play outside my network? here is how the player is setup: <script type='text/javascript' src='swfobject.js'></script> <script type='text/javascript'>var s1 = new SWFObject('player.swf','player','500','400','9'); s1.addParam('allowfullscreen','true'); s1.addParam('allowscriptaccess','always'); s1.addParam('flashvars','streamer=rtmp://192.xx.x.xx/vod&file=Wedding.flv&image=preview1.jpg'); s1.write('preview'); s1.addParam('salign','sr') </script> Any help would be great...
Disclosure: I am NOT a web developer or a developer, I am a network engineer. I am trying to get flash media streaming server setup to stream flash video files to our website. I created a server 2003 server on the same DMZ LAN as our "public" web server and installed Flash Media Streaming Server 3. Now what? I honestly have no idea where to begin. I have 2 webservers (1 internal, 1 public) and a SQL server that feeds them their content (Sitecore based). I guess I need to know how to do the most basic thing on the streaming video server end, and that is share out and host flash videos to the website. I am a bit overhwelmed looking at all the documentation, and again only want to use it for this very basic purpose. Ideas on where to start?
I installed Flash Media Encoder 2.5 Auth. Add-in and it worked well and the user and password appeared when trying to connect to the server through FME ... The problem is that when i open the command prompt and put the user file it gives me commands to put in order to add or remove users ... When I write these commands I get the following message: (The syntax of the command is incorrect) So, what's the right way to write the command ?? The second question: How can I decrease the audio bit rate as much as possible ... as the least bitrate which I got is 18 kb ... I wanted it to be less than that to increase the video bit rate Thanks, Ziad ....
My organization is looking at the possiblilty of buying a web server for our department and running FMS on it to serve our growing archive of video content. I'm curious about the system requirements, they seem fairly vague to me, especially regarding processors. Adobe says "Intel® Pentium® 4 3.2GHz processor (dual Intel Xeon® processors recommended)." This might be a dumb question, but if I configure a machine with dual Xeons, should they both be 3.2 GHz? Or does the 3.2 only refer to the Pentium 4's in that spec? I'm having a bit of a rough time finding the right configuration on the Dell site, as 3.2 seems to be the top speed for Xeons, and many of their servers are equipped with AMD processors anyway. I'm just curious what others are running... Thanks, Dave Potts UNC Charlotte Broadcast Communications
Hi Everyone This may be a simple question. Is there a way to batch process .mov or .av files on the flash media server so that they get converted into .flv files. I have a number of staff who can access the server but I would like to setup a watched folder that they could drop their files into and Flash media server would automatically convert them into .flv files. Can this be done? Many thanks Neil
I just want to know if I pay the $499 support fee whether or not someone who knows this software will walk me through it. The instructions have skads of explanations of why the configuation codes are what they are and long listings of stuff. People, we need quick start guides, not History of the World Parts 1-234 What I want is a step-by-step of installing this on a server and getting it to run. WHY does this have to be so hard?
I received the following message in the application log. (w)2651019 Dropping application (appInstance/4923) message. Clients not allowed to broadcast message. Has anyone come across this message before? Does anyone know what the message means? Thanks in Advanced.
I've got several webinars that an associate of mine helped me build several years ago in Flash MX 2004. They are about 40 minutes long, but have been broken into about 8 chapters (seperate .swf files). The .swf files connect to audio (mp3) streams running off of an external hosted FMS server via RTMP. We are using the older MediaDisplay and MediaPlayback components from MX 2004 to play the audio while the screens within Flash are setup with cuepoints to sync to the audio. This has worked for years, except the problem is that the chapters do not always seem to make the connection to the external FMS audio. Sometimes simply pressing the pause button on and off will get it to play. Other times you have to refresh the screen. I can't figure out if this is a hosting issue or not. We have tried a few different FMS hosts at this point at about the $100/month plans, but keep having the same problems. What can we do to eliminate (or diminish) these connection problems? We really don't want to
We're trying to work out some bandwith requirements for a product we have produced. We have high quality streaming flv files streaming from FMS2. The flv files are encoded to 900kb/s and audio 80kb/s Does this strictly mean that clients viewing the videos actually do use 980kb/s bandwidth when they stream this video file? Is there any way of determining how much bandwidth a 900kb/s encoded video file will actually use when streamed? We have data which tells us approximately how many users might use the product simultaneously and I need to work out what bandwidth is required for peak time usage. So, if there are likely to be 100 simultaneous users, does this mean we require a bandwidth of 100 * 980kb/s ? That seems a bit wrong to me and I wonder if there's an established or better way of calculating it. Any info would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance.
Could you please explain what Origin Edge technology is? I am thinking of purchasing FMS3 but need to know how many servers per license I can use Adobe claims 'unlimited scalability' so does this mean one license will allow me as many users as I like on as many servers as I like?
Hi all! Is there any way to check if a certain RTMP stream is live, via PHP? The homepage of my site (which is built with PHP) will change depending on what streams are live (there are multiple streams). It's not enough to be able to check in a swf file as I can't then use the information to change the homepage or do other cool stuff like add to an RSS feed, or notify people via SMS/IM. Is there any way to check this? Thanks!
I just switch from the Logitech Fusion webcam to the Logitech Quickcam 9000 pro. The 9000 pro boasts HD video recording capabilities (960x720 at least). I hooked everything up but inside of FME 2.5 it only lists up to 640x480 in the resolution drop down. My old webcam (the fusion) which is ~3 years old could do 720x576. So i'm wondering if there are any settings to allow custom resolutions and unlock (for lack of a better term) the higher resolutions this camera is supposed to be able to do. Any help would be appreciated!
Note :: I test with live solution. :: I have one server for flash live encoder :: and one server for origin and one server for edge About request streaming from edge server it OK. So I set cache directory at edge server but It not have every thing in this directory. ???? How I do it ? -*- This my config :: "<CacheDir enabled="ture" useAppName="true">c:\cache</CacheDir>" Thanks you.
(Previously posted this in the Flex forum; realized this is a much better place for it...) I'm using NetStream to play video off of my Flash Media Server. If I play a video that is shorter than a minute, I have no problems; the video plays smoothly. If I play a video that is longer than a minute, then the video plays for approximately 2.5 seconds, then it freezes up and won't continue playing. Looking at the stream info messages, I see that it starts playing when the NetStream.Buffer.Full message is sent, then freezes when the NetStream.Buffer.Empty message is sent. I wait a long time, but another NetStream.Buffer.Full message never arrives. Additionally, when I look at the bandwidth usage in my FMS admin console, I see a large spike in BW usage when the buffer is first filled, then it drops down to 0 again (meaning the buffer is not being refilled after that). Another puzzling aspect of this is if I set the bufferTime to 20 seconds, it will still only fill the buffer to about 2.5 s
Our client is behind a firewall and they are unable to connect to our fms server. But if they try the port checkers from Jake Hilton and Macromedia they pass rtmpt. Has anyone come across this issue? Here's the link to the Port Checker Thanks in Advance.
Few things make me feel stupid but this is starting to. I have an Adobe Media Server fully configured and ready to use. This is my question: I have both videos and tutorials. I have created my tutorials using Adobe Captive 3, videos are created from many outside sources. My Adobe Captive and Adobe Flash Pro create only SWF files. So why do I have a Media Server? The point is that I have a large population that accesses my site daily. My site has a max capacity of 10M up and down. The SWF files are very large and I do not want the user do have to down load the whole file before viewing it. I also do not want to use bandwidth to down load a tutorial that was not fully viewed. My media server only serves up FLV files. So what is Adobe thinking? I can convert the SWF files to FLV “not using an Adobe product”. So to ask a stupid question: Should I be converting my SWF files to FLV? And if not why? Thanks in advance. From A long time web developer and database integrator feeling a l
hi people, i'm interested in publishing live video on the web. i plan to go into Construction monitoring using PTZ cameras and connecting the live feeds from it to Flash Media Development Server (thats how far my research has gone)... i know its not that 'cut and dry'...so i'm here asking for advice on how i can publish live video on the web using IP cameras.
