Very basic question. I have FMS working okj in my PC locally. Can/should/may I upload FMS to my website to be able to stream videos? can a server be uploaded to a server??
I'm trying to to capture time-lapse images. I'd like to capture a new image each second. Each image should appear for a fraction of a second (e.g.1/10 sec.), so after 10 seconds I'd have a recording lasting 1 second that displays 10 separate images. However, the result of the code below is to capture a single image and to hold that image in place for a full second. After 10 seconds, I have a 10 second video containing 10 different images. What am I doing wrong? flashcom = "rtmp:/simon"; myCamera = Camera.get(); pipeline = new NetConnection(); pipeline.onStatus = function() { myInterval = setInterval(playIt, 1000); myStream = new NetStream(pipeline); myStream.publish("test","append"); function playIt() { myStream.attachVideo(myCamera,0); } }; pipeline.connect(flashcom);
I'm streaming two languages simultaneously, one from a live camera and one from a live translator. Right now this is set up as two separate streams which works alright, but I'd like to combine the two audio streams so that a single recorded flv would contain all the audio with the client choosing the language of playback. Is this doable with fms3? How have other people dealt with live-translated streams? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Our content sits in multiple folders and they get created on the fly. For instance, we have a multimedia/1001 folder with a file called 1001.flv. When we create a new flv, it automatically gets named the next in line a new folder under multimedia is created. Thus we would end up having multimedia/1002/1002.flv. Is there a way I can point to simply the multimedia folder by itself without having to manually tell it to look at each newly created folder that gets created?
We are looking at having two physical fms 3.0 servers for redundancy to serve content up to an edge network. I understand we can run both servers behind a balancer in which case do they both need the $5K license? The reason for the question is we will never saturate one server and we don't want to actually pay for two full licenses if they are not needed. If the answer to this is yes, then: Is is possible to run the 2nd server in failover mode so it takes the first servers license should it fail? Content would be served from a SAN attached to both FMS servers. TIA Chatty
I developped 2 applications. The first one creates a "data only" (NS.send()) stream. The second one, running on a different machine plays it back. While recording the stream and playing it back live, everything worked fine. In order to replay the stream at a later time i chose the "record" option. In my Media Server Application Folder several up to 4 GB (8 hours) files were created. When I try to replay the recorded streams with my second application, the player halts after several seconds. I have to mention that the stream is not constantly filled with data, there may be gaps of several seconds maybe even minutes. I get the following NS status notifications: Netstream.play.reset Netstream.play.start (NS.myfunction invoked a few times) Netstream.Buffer.full (NS.myfunction invoked several times) Netstream.Play.Stop (no reason) (NS.myfunction invoked several times) Netstream.Buffer.flush (NS.myfunction invoked several times) Netstream.Buffer.empty
I'm trying to use a server-side script to call a function on the client side, but do not understand the documentation. I have created a function (Test) on the client, but do not understand what I am supposed to put into the ss script. The documentation states that I should use: application.streams["foo"].send("Test", "hello world"); What am I supposed to put in place of streams["foo"]?
Hi all, I'm new to FMS3, I wanna create a page for webcam live recording and playing, is there any sample code for reference (i can only found the code for live recording but do not have live record+play)? Many thanks. I have installed FMS3.0 and FME2.0 on my machine, so is it capable to do so? Many thanks.
Hello friend, I have searched every where pls help me , How Can I stream Recorded videos to FMS as Live Broadcast? The streams should be looks like live,But their source is from a file.? Please help.any flash FMS gurus-experts there? How Can I stream Recorded videos to FMS as Live Broadcast
I am new to the FMS....I have down loaded FMS3....I am also trying to get other to view me on my webcam through a website. My question is, do I need the Media Encoder for FMS3 or is that already included in it? Any help will be great. Thanks
Using the LiveStream Application Sample provided in the FMS 3 download, and by slightly tweaking the Stream application, we've now reached the stage where User A can stream live video to the FMS (by opening an HTML page with embedded SWF - livestreams.swf) and USER B (by opening a separate HTML page with another embedded SWF - stream.swf) can watch the video. However, we are experiencing delays of >30 seconds between the transmitted and displayed video. This is on a machine with no load, and all inside the LAN. Any ideas how we can improve on that?
I'm working on a network application that uses an rtmpt connection to tunnel through proxy servers. I'm using an interval to check connectivity and reconnect if the client hasn't heard from the server in a while. The client freezes for up to several minutes when I call NetConnection.close() after detecting a bad connection. The client freeze is not accompanied by memory or CPU spikes, but the browser becomes unresponsive. I've seen the problem on Windows and OS X running IE 7 and Firefox 2. It doesn't seem to happen if I wait for the connection to timeout naturally, but that takes too long. It seems like there's something wrong within the NetConnection object. Perhaps there's something I'm missing when I try to disconnect cleanly. Here's the interval function that checks/closes the connection... /* checkConnect is called on a 15 second interval. It checks the value of _global.connected and takes appropriate action. _global.connected gets set to 1 each time a Shared Object syncs
I've seen this question asked in several places but have never found an answer. I want to deliver an rather large SWF movie from my website. The SWF file is created from a Flash document and has no FLV video embedded. Would the Media Server option offer a quicker download of the SWF movie for website visitors?
I am trying to get some information on development and streaming servers and looking for answers to the following questions. Any help will greatly be appreciated. 1) Can I have a multi-user audio/video (3-4 users seeing each other and talking to each other) enabled chat app with Streaming Server? Or does it only support one-to-one? 2) Is it possible to set up a Development server and then switch it to a Streaming server ? Since I don't need video recording (and other advanced stuff) and I don't think I need interactive server. But development server is said to be the same as interactive server except the simultaneous connection limit. Is there a way to downgrade that to streaming server? 3) If that's possible, how much work is involved in the process? 4) To use it on Windows, do I have to have Windows Server 2003 or can I install it on other windows versions ?
For my new video website I want the users TO BE ABLE TO CACHE but at the same time I want them to have the benefit of jumping anywhere on the timeline to see only the part they are interested in without downloading complete video (which can be done only through streaming IMHO) Is it possible in FMS3? any other solution?
hi, i'm developing an application that i hope to offer commercially. i'm interested in finding the best (and least expensive) *legal* method for recording audio using flash media server 3 (whatever version) and then converting it to WAV (e.g., 8kHz, 8-bit mulaw) or a similar format. i have found a program called ffmpeg, which works very nicely. however, i can not find info on whether this is a legal method for decoding audio in a .flv file for use in a commercial application. (i plan to manipulate the audio on the server side, then stream the result back in mp3 format or something similar.) are there features in the latest flash clients that i can take advantage of in order to eliminate (or reduce) any license fees? (i can force clients to upgrade their flash clients if necessary.) if not, what company do i have to deal with for licensing, and what's the best approach? any advice would be greatly appreciated. tom
Hi to all, We are facing a strange problem while delivering flash video using Flash Media Streaming Server 3: - We use the standar AS 3 FLVPlayback component from Flash 9 - The component conects to and receives a FLV stream from a Flash Media Streaming Server 3 using the RTMPT tunneling protocol. - When the user leaves the current page with the video, using a link, the browser eventually freezes or completely crashes. This happens both in Microsoft IE and Mozilla Firefox. Do you have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Victor.
I am currently trying to use FMS 3 to stream a stored file through the VOD folder. Both of my access files are set to * and my main.asc is just set to allow client connections. My current code uses Netconnection the nc.connect works. I start running into problems with Netstream when I tell it to connect using the Netconnection I always get an error. From what I can tell this is because I am trying to connect to a live stream. I don’t want a live stream I want to use a stored file. How do I go about making this call to FMS 3 in AS3 so that I can retrieve a stored file. Note I now have it working when I call an MP4 file but not when I call an FLV file. The MP4 shows as a stored file on the server but the FLV keeps showing up on the server as a live stream and I want to play it as stored.
Due to increased traffic on our FMS we need to stack another license. We have 2 licenses on 2 servers. We would like to take the license from server 2 which is not in use and stack with the license already on server 1. When I try and add the serial via the console it invalidates both licenses and switches to developer edition. I have checked the admin log and this shows the following error - "Volume licenses can not be mixed with any other kind. Switching to developer edition." If I remove either serial key the remaining key becomes valid again and so switches back to 150 connections mode. Any help would be much appreciated.
I am having trouble installing the flash media encoder authentication plugin, version 2.1. when i try, i get a message saying "Please install Macromedia Flash Media Server prior to installing this add-in". I have Flash Interactive Server installed on the same machine as I am trying to install the add-in. Any help would be appreciated.
Let me break it down. User A records some content onto my FMS. User A tells user B about said content. User B comes back later to watch the content. User B calls someVidoDisplay.playHeadTime after the first play event comes in and gets some unexpected number (though it is the same every time for the same content, on different machines even). User B then tells A to do it again, and A does. The same problem happens but this time the playHeadTime is a little different. The error seems to vary somewhere less than 20 seconds. It seems that the play head time is perfectly fine if I do the recording on my local machine and play it back on my local machine, but if a non local user makes a video it’s usually wrong. Does anyone have any idea what’s happening to me here? It’s seems like the server is injecting incorrect timestamps into the published file. -Chris
Hello I am trying to set up Flash Media Server 3. I have tested the sample flv files and they work fine, but I have tried to stream my own flvs and they will not work. It says "connecting", "buffering", "playing" and just before it's about to play it stops. Could this be the server or the flv. I have tried to play a few flv's but none will play. Please Help Thanks
I've set up the most basic test case while troubleshooting ongoing crash reports. - drag FLVPlayer onto the stage - add the following code to frame 1 so you can play in a bare FMS 3 server: import fl.video.*; VideoPlayer.iNCManagerClass = fl.video.NCManagerNative; - set your path to any FLV file via RTMP to FMS3 (our is linux) I can crash any browser just by repeatedly reloading the page with that movie in right as it loads. Eventually, with enough repetition, it will crash and take down the browser with a fault in "Flash_EnforceLocalSecurity". If you have video on every page of your site, you can see how this might become a bit of a problem... Network latency will increase the frequency of crashes. I've been chasing this for months in our own player (AS2). Finding the same thing with such a simple test case in a bare clip using the native AS3 component is really surprising.
Hi All, we are rather new to FMS but we already are trying it for sending live streams from webcams on clients to the FMS via the livestream application provided as a reference by Adobe. Our question - how (maybe through republishing?) can we actually VIEW the incoming video in LIVE mode on the FMS machine itself while the sessions are happening? This could be useful for on-line real time moderation, for example. So basically we have client machine A with a webcam streaming live video to FMS machine B, and we want to see the stream live on Machine B. TIA, the 3g4all team.
I have a webcam streaming to Flash Media Server via the Media Encoder. I have published the .swf file with the flash player and rtmp://99.999.999.999:1935/live/livestream address to my website on a hosted webserver. When I am on another internet source, the player on my webpage loads and works fine. However when I load the webpage in a browser on the same network that has the Media Server and Webcam on it, the browser freezes up. I need some help with a solution that will cause the rtmp:// address to switch to a local host address. Any suggestions.
