Back when I submitted my results to Bill for the benchmarks, he mentioned something about Premiere (and other CUDA apps) not allowing my GPUs to keep their memory overclock.  Specifically, when I OC my video cards, I not only bump the core clock speed up, but also the memory speed.  Here's a quick screen shot of my 2080Ti OC in MSI Afterburner as an example:I've added a +110 to the Core Clock, and a +801 to the Memory Clock.Well, Bill was right.  I watched Afterburner one day while I was messing around in Premiere.  Sure enough, the GPU's clock kicked back down to its default.  Hm.Apparently this is a thing with the NVidia driver, and it can be changed.  Obviously: do this at your own risk, etc, etc, etc.  But what you're going to need is everyone's favorite NVidia hacking tool: the NVidia Inspector.Releases · DeadManWalkingTO/NVidiaProfileInspectorDmW · GitHub Again: use carefully and at your own risk.  You can ROYALLY screw up your NVidia drive

Hi Guys,I am building a PC on a budget for personal video projects. Render times are not a huge concern to me.I have an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 + 16gb of 3000mhz RAM with 1 SSD and 2 HDDI am trying to save some money on the GPU and am wondering if I can use any Nvidia Cuda card or if it has to be on the recommended list?Is a 2GB GT 710 DDR5 enough to get Premiere running and editing / scrubbing smoothly? I am also ok with using an older version of CC if that helps (ie: before the GPU requirement was listed as mandatory)?Thanks!

Hello there, I built my computer around 2011 and since about 2015 I've barely used it as I've had superior machines at my jobs that I was allowed to use for personal projects. Now that I am no longer in those jobs I'm doing some editing on my machine and it's barely usable. Here are the specs:Windows 10 Pro version 1809Intel Core i5-3570K CPU @ 3.4GHz16GB DDR3 1600 MHzNVIDIA GeForce GTX 550TiGigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5HSo as you can see that's a whole lotta oof in 2019. So my question is, would I see a better performance increase if I upgraded my CPU to a i7-3770 (which I believe is the highest that will fit in my LGA 1155 socket) or upgrade my graphics card, as right now I'm not even getting GPU acceleration? Or are both options just spending money to put lipstick on a pig, and I'm better off biting the bullet and upgrading everything but the case? Intel® SSD 660p 2TB  - that kind of cheap ... +- 200 EUR, what are your thoughts about it? maybe some one had an experience? Hey all,I've got a home server with Dual E5-2690v2's and was hoping I could run Premiere Pro CC on that for the extra grunt.However the minimum specs on the Adobe website say I need a 6th Gen Intel Processor for hardware acceleration. Is that correct?Was hoping to use a GTX 1060 and the Dual E5's to increase my render speed as my main PC is a Surface Book which is painfully slow.Any assistance on the topic would be greatly appreciated.Cheers

I would like to buy i7-8700k or R7 2700x as they are the best CPUs in their price segment 300$-400$ (tell me if I am not right )So, the question is "What CPU is better?" Alrighty, I'm upgrading gear and trying to figure out if I should get the AMD Threadripper or the i9 9900K, what do you all think? Also, I am thinking either the RTX 2070 or 2080 and 32 Gb RAM. I use premiere more than anything for multi-camera editing. I'm using a 1st Gen i7 980x with a GTX 680. So, I'm very excited to make this upgrade! I have read that AMD sometimes doesn't work with premiere though. Greetings!I belong to a photography club that is currently in the market for a 50" Flat Screen 4K HDTV that will be used for display purposes of members images.These images are uploaded to a laptop that will be linked to this flat screen for critiquing purposes.Currently we use a pull down screen that inadequately displays our photographs from a projector.Our main concern is with any color management issues that may arise between the laptop and a new HDTV, and how to offset them, (in the event there are compatibility problems) so that our work is properly displayed at the meetings.I thank you in advance for your input, and I will look forward to your replies.Best,~Angelo

But it's still unclear to me what would be an ideal processor to choose, particularly in terms of "cores."  Some folks have said "the more cores the better".. while others (including an Apple representative) have said "no more than 2 cores are necessary" (which is particularly odd because my current decade-old iMac already has 4 cores)..  Anyways, any guidance would be much appreciated, thnx!

Dell Precision 5820 tower64GB RAM500GB NVMe System drive2TB Working driveNvidia Quadro P2000 GFX cardUsage: Premiere/AEI work in an office with 2 other producers with identical machines and we've all been having issues with GPU kernel crashes. Our usage is about 65% Premiere and 35% After Effects. My employer has offered to upgrade our GFX cards. We have a budget of around $700/card and are currently looking at the Quadro P4000. Does anyone have any insight as to the performance and stability of P4000 vs the P2000?  Or any other suggestions?  Thanks for any input!

When i play my timeline in premiere, it just uses around 60 % CPU, 30% RAM, and 5 % GPU and mostly 0% HDD, sometimes more but goes down to 0%.I use Mercury Playback Engine.Preview Cache option is faded out (GPU preview cache Oo)Of course the timeline cant be played in real time.But many effects just dont get played.But why isnt premiere using more CPU, GPU and RAM?I have made option that it can use 26 GB RAM.Still its using just 30% while after effects is using around 75%.I would have no problem if it would use 80% RAM, 85 % CPU and a lot more of GPU if that makes the playback faster and smoother.I have newest GPU driver installed.I have Threadripper 1900X, SSD, 32 GB RAM, GTX 1080 TI.

It has been a long time coming but Harm (even though he is not active on the forums) and I finally have a Benchmark for Premiere CC (actually properly today's version is Premiere 7.2.1.4).  Harm is the webmaster for us on ppbm7.com.  Without his continuing support I would not be able proceed with a CC version and we would not have his wonderful Tweakers Page.We have used the exact same timeline that we have used for CS6.  All exports are direct exports from Premiere hence the DE to distinguish from the preceding generation where we used AME.  This eliminates dynamic linking overhead and give truer Premiere benchmarks.  Since the GUI has changed in CC we need to have a new project that reflects those changes.  So in the current version of CC our benchmark works fine, but as CC evolves we cannot necessarily guarantee compatibility.  One thing we added was a additional script item that retrieves the current Premiere version number so we can understand fu

Hello forum!I just picked up a newer laptop for video editing.  I will be replacing the main HD with a SSD on a SATA III connection.  My options for a scratch drive are: a partition on the main SSD, a HD on a SATA II connection or a USB 3.0 external.  From reading through these forums I'm assuming that using a SATA II connection with a 2nd HD would be the best bet but I thought I'd seek out some wisdom before diving in.  Thanks in advance.

i sold up and moved countries about 6 months ago. That included selling the Desktop I built. While im an avid believer in building ones own desktop for editing, i am in a transient time for the next couple of years - i’ll be moving a lot so a portable set up is key. I don’t know the laptop market at all. 1) what kind of laptop specs am I aiming for to run premier with 4k footage (I own a gh4, but editing Is my primary source of film work so need to be able to handle heavier stuff) and some reasonably light after effects work?2) how to manage harddrives, proxies? 3) peripheral accessories that potentially improve life and workflow?4) general portable workflow tips?

Hello, here's my specification and my problem. So I was able to render using H264 in Adobe Premiere perfectly. My CPU and GPU are synchronized rendering together optical flows (24->60fps). But suddenly (without restarting my pc), when I want to render another video (after a few videos rendered) the option "Encoding" greyed out and stuck at "Software Decoding" and it wasn't there before. Although mercury Cuda is enabled, GPU uses 0% and it's very slow when I rendering the same video as before. Hi All,I also felt like I needed to vent about the 2019 update. Ever since the 2019 update was released I have had issues with my graphics cards interacting with Adobe on both my computers... Running earlier versions and reinstalling graphics drivers don't seem to work. I definitely have functioning 4gb graphics cards for both, 1 NVIDIA and the other AMD so that rules out any NVIDIA favouritism. I even completely wiped windows 10 from my desktop and reinstalled from scratch to confirm there weren't any issues with that.Needless to say, this has really impacted upon my work. Not exactly easy to explain to video clients needing videos processed promptly and that's not even the core of my workflow. Indesign 2017 seems to work well but every other version of every program I have installed seems to have issues.

Up until just recently I had been running an older version of illustrator (cc 2017) on a mid 2014 MacBook Pro (2.8GHz Intel Core i7 with 16 gigs of ram, a 1 TB drive, running 10.10.6) It was a workhorse and I frequently pushed very large complex files in illustrator and photoshop. It was no slouch but I decided I would update hardware... thinking it would be faster and make me more efficient.Last week I proudly purchased my brand new MacBook Pro. It's arguably the fastest MacBook Pro made with the fastest processor and as much ram as possible. (2.9 GHz Intel Core i9 with 32 gigs of ram and 2 TB hard drive running 10.14.2)Disappointingly this new setup seems sluggish by comparison to my old one in both photoshop and illustrator. Things like simple copy paste and move, nudge, etc... things are an annoying tick behind what I've been used to in my previous old school, out-of-date setup.So are there any suggestions for hot-rodding this thing up?
