Hi,, I work with Logic Pro X, Photoshop, **Premiere**, and After Effects.  My current computer (2009 iMac) is slow [edited by moderator] and I'm looking to make a serious upgrade (thinking iMac Pro) .. But it's still unclear to me what would be an ideal processor to choose, particularly in terms of "cores."  Some folks have said "the more cores the better".. while others (including an Apple representative) have said "no more than 2 cores are necessary" (which is particularly odd because my current decade-old iMac already has 4 cores)..  Anyways, any guidance would be much appreciated, thnx!

Our usage is about 65% Premiere and 35% After Effects. My employer has offered to upgrade our GFX cards. We have a budget of around $700/card and are currently looking at the Quadro P4000. Does anyone have any insight as to the performance and stability of P4000 vs the P2000?  Or any other suggestions?  Thanks for any input!

When i play my timeline in premiere, it just uses around 60 % CPU, 30% RAM, and 5 % GPU and mostly 0% HDD, sometimes more but goes down to 0%.I use Mercury Playback Engine.Preview Cache option is faded out (GPU preview cache Oo)Of course the timeline cant be played in real time.But many effects just dont get played.But why isnt premiere using more CPU, GPU and RAM?I have made option that it can use 26 GB RAM.Still its using just 30% while after effects is using around 75%.I would have no problem if it would use 80% RAM, 85 % CPU and a lot more of GPU if that makes the playback faster and smoother.I have newest GPU driver installed.I have Threadripper 1900X, SSD, 32 GB RAM, GTX 1080 TI.

It has been a long time coming but Harm (even though he is not active on the forums) and I finally have a Benchmark for Premiere CC (actually properly today's version is Premiere 7.2.1.4).  Harm is the webmaster for us on ppbm7.com.  Without his continuing support I would not be able proceed with a CC version and we would not have his wonderful Tweakers Page.We have used the exact same timeline that we have used for CS6.  All exports are direct exports from Premiere hence the DE to distinguish from the preceding generation where we used AME.  This eliminates dynamic linking overhead and give truer Premiere benchmarks.  Since the GUI has changed in CC we need to have a new project that reflects those changes.  So in the current version of CC our benchmark works fine, but as CC evolves we cannot necessarily guarantee compatibility.  One thing we added was a additional script item that retrieves the current Premiere version number so we can understand fu

Hello forum!I just picked up a newer laptop for video editing.  I will be replacing the main HD with a SSD on a SATA III connection.  My options for a scratch drive are: a partition on the main SSD, a HD on a SATA II connection or a USB 3.0 external.  From reading through these forums I'm assuming that using a SATA II connection with a 2nd HD would be the best bet but I thought I'd seek out some wisdom before diving in.  Thanks in advance.

i sold up and moved countries about 6 months ago. That included selling the Desktop I built. While im an avid believer in building ones own desktop for editing, i am in a transient time for the next couple of years - i’ll be moving a lot so a portable set up is key. I don’t know the laptop market at all. 1) what kind of laptop specs am I aiming for to run premier with 4k footage (I own a gh4, but editing Is my primary source of film work so need to be able to handle heavier stuff) and some reasonably light after effects work?2) how to manage harddrives, proxies? 3) peripheral accessories that potentially improve life and workflow?4) general portable workflow tips?

Hello, here's my specification and my problem. So I was able to render using H264 in Adobe Premiere perfectly. My CPU and GPU are synchronized rendering together optical flows (24->60fps). But suddenly (without restarting my pc), when I want to render another video (after a few videos rendered) the option "Encoding" greyed out and stuck at "Software Decoding" and it wasn't there before. Although mercury Cuda is enabled, GPU uses 0% and it's very slow when I rendering the same video as before. Hi All,I also felt like I needed to vent about the 2019 update. Ever since the 2019 update was released I have had issues with my graphics cards interacting with Adobe on both my computers... Running earlier versions and reinstalling graphics drivers don't seem to work. I definitely have functioning 4gb graphics cards for both, 1 NVIDIA and the other AMD so that rules out any NVIDIA favouritism. I even completely wiped windows 10 from my desktop and reinstalled from scratch to confirm there weren't any issues with that.Needless to say, this has really impacted upon my work. Not exactly easy to explain to video clients needing videos processed promptly and that's not even the core of my workflow. Indesign 2017 seems to work well but every other version of every program I have installed seems to have issues.

Hello friends!I would like to put under your consideration the following issue:I have a 4 core (8 threads) Intel i7 desktop processor in my one computer. I have a GeForce GTX 1060 6Gb graphics card and I have 56Gb of RAM.This is my second P.C. since my primary one is a very powerful one.I changed the processor and put a six core (12 threads) Intel i7 X (extreme edition).My renders though are exactly the same in terms of speed and maybe a little slower than the 4 core processor.I checked that Windows 10 can see all 6 cores. I can see that when I am rendering a short film without the maximum rendering setting enabled, the usable percentage of CPU and GPU is:CPU: 12%GPU:23%I changed the priority settings of Premiere from "Normal" to "High" and now the percentage is:CPU: Between 18% and 21%GPU: 26%But when I was using the four core processor I had a 78% GPU usage (without high priority settings enabled) and a 72% CPU usage. Up until just recently I had been running an older version of illustrator (cc 2017) on a mid 2014 MacBook Pro (2.8GHz Intel Core i7 with 16 gigs of ram, a 1 TB drive, running 10.10.6) It was a workhorse and I frequently pushed very large complex files in illustrator and photoshop. It was no slouch but I decided I would update hardware... thinking it would be faster and make me more efficient.Last week I proudly purchased my brand new MacBook Pro. It's arguably the fastest MacBook Pro made with the fastest processor and as much ram as possible. (2.9 GHz Intel Core i9 with 32 gigs of ram and 2 TB hard drive running 10.14.2)Disappointingly this new setup seems sluggish by comparison to my old one in both photoshop and illustrator. This is a question that also relevant for After Effects and Media Encoder, but my focus is currently on Premiere.I am wondering what is the most powerful CPU, as of June 2018, that Premiere Pro can use. The tech specs don't cover optimized systems and nothing I can find in the software community mentions what is the software is currently programmed to cover. I am primarily looking for fast rendering for 4K multicam edits with After Effects compositions embedded with no rendering errors.I'm looking at a higher core (10+) CPU using hyper-threading as an option, since most rendering is done on the CPU. What is the max model that Premiere Pro can use? Also looking for the best SINGLE GPU to use with 10-bit capability. I'm assuming the 1080 TI, but once again, I can't find optimization specs anywhere. Hey everybody!My name is Chris, and i am going to put 4 Worksations(HD: SSD for the OS, 7200rpm for the Data) together for my organisation (youth work and education)We need Videoediting in 1080p and to be futureproof 4K (not 6k or 8k).We will use the CC and Premiere Pro and other products as well.But for the 4k Question i wanted to ask you guys' advice and thought i get "to the source" here on the Adobe forums.First Question: Can we edit 4k video (i expect that we will not have high bandwidth 4k) comfortably with that hardware setup?We also have a Videonetwork and we will get a new NAS (High performance HD with Raid5) and a new Switch (with 10Gbit connections between the Switch, but only 1Gbit form the switch to each workplace).Second Question:Should 4K networkbased editing work with that?So i know some sort of proxy workflow recommendations do exist from Adobe, i will have a look at them too.What do you guys say? Hi,Just build my Threadripper system (1950x, 32GB, 1080 Ti) and what I notice is that the scrubbing performance is pretty slow compared to my Intel laptop (i7 4790K, 32GB, 970M). I'm using GH5 ALL-I 4K files. Files are on SSD raid on Threadripper system and single SSD on laptop. Playback is ok, but scrubbing timeline is really bad.  Both systems are just installed with Windows Fall Creators update. I'm looking for some advice to upgrade my laptop to improve PP playback performance. I did my research but unfortunately http://ppbm8.com/ is not available (does anyone know if it will become online?) so I don't have much data to use for comparison.I bought a new gaming laptop (i7-8750H, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060 6GB, 250GB PCIe SSD, 2TB HDD), the performance was ok but the screen color accuracy was not suitable for my needs and I really missed my Trackpoint so I had to return it. Hi all,I work for a video production company and our owner has offered to purchase me a new machine for editing as we build our new studio. We aren't producing feature length films or anything but we do have 4K projects that bog down my current machine (which was never intended to be a full-time editing PC but my editing role has expanded in the company). With an eye on the future I only see larger projects and more 4K projects coming down the line so I would like to be prepared with a machine to handle them. I'm not sure what budget she has in mind yet but I wouldn't want to go in with too big of an ask, we don't need anything super high end anyway, but we are a professional production company so I can't cheap out on our systems either. Just wondering if anyone has any pointers on particular PCs and what specs would be good for my needs. Happy to answer any Qs to narrow down what would be best for me! Thanks in advance friends!-JLR

I'm currently editing 4K/60M footage and I'm just not happy with the performance that Premiere is giving me. I could definitely be wrong, but I feel like the playback speed, scrubbing speed, and even the rendering speed is a little slow. I'm playing my sequence back at 1/2 quality and it still skips randomly and I feel like it shouldn't be doing that.Based off the specs I've given you, is my 16GB 3600 DDR4 kit the bottleneck here?
