PPBM - I've been trying to do this test seemingly for years - i keep coming back to it once a year or so but there's always some issue, both with the site and figuring out how to run it and generate results. I finally got it to generate some results, but i have no idea how to interpret them. The PPBM site is kind of a mess and the PPBM charts don't display (even though the top 25, 26-50 do for whatever reason after updating/installing Adobe flash 6). I think the original creator has passed and i don't mean any disrespect, but i really have no frame of reference for interpreting these results that i've stayed up half the night trying to generate. after looking at the insane prices of getting something like a Drobo or other RAID, i've decided to make a ultra-budget RAID array in my PC. Primarily for storing the bulk of my files, but it should probably also be fast enough to do some editing off of.I'm doing six 2TB 7200 enterprise drives in RAID 10, giving me 6TB of storage and (hopefully) something along the lines of 4-5x read speed of the individual drives? I'm not clear on this either - some sources say that RAID 1 + 0 will give me N-1x the read speed, some say 6x and 3x write speed (, Free RAID Calculator - Caclulate RAID Array Capacity and Fault Tolerance. ) and others say only something like 2-3x read speed. To make this worthwhile and do what i need to do, i would like it to do something like the former - more than 4x read and at least twice the write of a single disc. They are Hitachi drives and were used in a server or RAID setup before but are good working order in terms of passing something like a CrystalDiskInfo check

So i've been using a GTX750ti since i built my (budget) build. I have no idea where to start in terms of GPU searching. The numbers (1080, 570, etc) don't seem to directly correspond to increased quality. My question is this - what are common "budget" GPUs that people are using for video editing that perform well. Just to clarify I don't care about the latest models. Id much rather buy second hand and get something a couple years older. I paid maybe like $60 for my 750ti and honestly i have no real complaints with it. But i'm approaching the point where i'd like an upgrade as mine is a bit dated.I don't have a specific budget. I'd like something decent that will last for my next build, but i'm also not trying to drop like $400 on a GPU right now. I'd be getting a Nvidia GeForce GTX of some sort.Also, which specs are most important for video editing? I probably want something with at least 4GB vRam. I know that CUDA cores are relatively important? Also, is it true that just because a GP

I have a "HIS AMD HD Radeon 7950 3GB", I tried to enable openCL graphics support in premiere pro but not able to(have updated driver of GPU and motherboard, added required .txt file).GPUSniffer says "did not find any devices that support GPU computation " & premiere pro is stuck on "Mercury Playback Engine software only"My Question is - Will premiere pro/Adobe Media Encoder benefit from my graphics card? Hi people!I heard from a technician that using Windows 10 Pro for Workstations in conjunction with Premiere Pro would make a difference compared to using it with Windows 10 Pro or the "lower" version.The advantages would be related to better overall performance, less memory usage for execution (which also guarantees, in the end, a significant increase of performance), greater fidelity in the use of the files and even correction for some corruptions that are possible ...Would it be an exaggeration?Currently I use the Windows 10 Pro version. After the idea that he passed me, I was tempted to migrate to the version for Workstations ... Has anyone had any experience? If so, could you tell me the advantages and possible disadvantages (apart from the higher cost)? Was it unnecessary? Hi,I would like to purchase an alternative to Cintiq, such as a graphic display tablet by Huion Kamvas. My laptop(Acer? I think) is seriously under powered for adobe software.I would like bluetooth, light weight, SSD, fast processor. I can't afford Apple as they are so out of my price range. What would you suggest I consider for the laptop....I don't care about brand, just performance. i notice that a lot of online resellers sell dell monitors way cheaper.is this always the way? or is it just old models that dell is wanting to get rid of?specifically the higher end ones from $700-2000.a new model just came out at $1600 that i am keen on and was wondering if resellers were about to get it for hundreds less?or is it typically a year or so before that happens?

I've been getting into videography (just on a hobby level) and desperately need to update my storage. Right now I have a 250GB SSD (OS/programs) and a 1TB WD Blue on my desktop. No external HDDs - nothing.Now I want to make it clear that I am trying to upgrade my storage on a budget. I'd like to keep this under $400-$500. Cheaper the better (of course I don't want to buy complete junk though).I've been researching for several days now and I am starting to beat a dead horse here ha. I originally thought I would just get a SATA dock/WD Reds and simply archive my video footage and store the WD Reds in my safe. I would then backup with BackBlaze. The more I have read, the more I have realized that storing bare drives on the shelf may or may not be a very reliable solution. Also, BackBlaze requires external hard drives to be hooked up at least every 30 days otherwise it will assume the data is gone and delete it from their cloud. I have a pretty beefy PC with a 5960X, 32GB RAM and 3x 980ti GPUs (AE only uses 1 though). When using AE it felt laggy and struggled when trying to preview a project. I tried it on my mid-2015 Macbook Pro and to my surprise AE felt more responsive and previewed much faster. I rang tech support and he made the following claims that surprised me:AE will never use more than 16GB RAM when working on a project so adding 64GB won't make a differenceAE isn't as quick/optimised on Windows as it is on MacThe issues with AE on Windows will be resolved in the next updateAre these true? I've seen tests online where people use 128GB RAM and see speed improvements but would that only affect the final render? Is AE just not as good on a PC as it is on a Mac? Although the previews are still ever so slightly slower compared to the Macbook, it's less laggy now (the audio is out of sync at the start though) after he went into Preferences > Memory and changed it to 19.9GB for Adobe applications and 12G

I just built a new system and I'd like some advice on the best way to use my SSD drives for video editing, and for Adobe programs across the board. Raw video footage and photos are stored on a Synology DiskStation DS1817+.  In addition to the video, I deal with hundreds of thousands of photos that are edited in Lightroom, but stored on the NAS.For video editing on my old system I would copy the video footage from the NAS to the SSD and then import it into Première Pro thinking it would speed things up but I actually didn't notice a ton of difference, so I just used the SSD's for cache and scratch disks.My system details are below:AMD Threadripper 2950X 16 Core (Overclocked to 4.2GHz)Motherboard - ASUS ROG STRIXRAM - 64GB Gskill DDR4 3200MHz (4 x 16GB)GPU - AMD FirePro W9100 with 32GB VRAM I actually have 2 of these but I put both in the system, so 64GB of VRAM, and didn't see any performance improvement in CineBench, so it doesn't seem worth dealing with the heat they createHard D

I just bought a power-house PC specifically for Premiere Pro and After Effects, and was expecting extremely fast render times. However, not only does Premiere Pro and After Effects take over 30 seconds to boot (my old computer booted them in less than 10 seconds), but the rendering time seems the same, if not worse.
