I've been getting BSOD's when I try to backup my raid.  It's a raid 3. on areca 12238i. 3x8tb seagate ironwolf.I've pasted the system event log details below. It seems that something weird is going on with one of the drives, and the raid controller sends a reset, but then errors.  I dont understnand why if there's a drive issue the controller isn't reporting the array as degraded. the smart stats for one drive are questionable (smart read error rate 50(44)).  But the raid still reports no media errors.  Once it's error the drive becomes inaccessible, there are hundred's of that topmost error, then it reboots. any help would be hugely appreciatedLog Name:      SystemSource:        DiskDate:          11/02/2018 6:20:07 PMEvent ID:      15Task Category: NoneLevel:         ErrorKeywords:  &nbs

Hey all,So my work got me a Dell Precision 7520 to edit on, which has a Radeon Pro WX 4130. I've been editing some light projects with it and it's been fine, but on my latest project I had some more intense work going into it and I noticed it was rendering very slowly. So I went to check and see if Mercury Playback was enabled and it's currently set to 'Software Only' with the drop down grayed out so I can't set it to utilize OpenCL rendering like I would assume my WX 4130 would support. Any ideas on how to fix this?My Laptop has '2' graphics cards because of the Integrated Graphics on the Intel chip (Intel HD Graphics 630), so I think Premiere is using that as a primary graphics chip. The laptop is supposed to have 'swappable graphics' under the settings, but no matter what I set my performance mode to, it doesn't seem to take advantage of the Radeon card.I tried disabling the 630 via device manager, which did then give me the option to enable OpenCL, but Premiere crashes almost immed

Mike Irish sent me a link to this KitGuruTech video today.  If you go to about the 6:30 minute mark, you'll see him test the same bit of video with three video cards, starting with GTX980, and then a GTX1080Ti and finally a Vega 64 Sapphire.  If you ignore the fist result in the table below, which is from a different system, the results are remarkably close, and based on this, you'd have to think carefully before spending serious money upgrading a 900 series card to a 1000 series card.  It might be that his testing regime was flawed, and I don't know how you'd be able to tell that from the information in the video, but it is food for thought on the face of it.I am sure Bill has done similar tests, and will have his own set of results, and I am also sure that Bill's findings would hold more credibility.

Hi I think i have massively messed up. I have bought an IMac mid 2007 via an offer to run photoshop CC 2018. However, when i start to do anything it freezes. Reading more, i think it may not have the memory needed to run the program. It has 4GB RAM.Have i been stupid, i assume? And can i increase the RAM or is it a case of returning it altogether if i need photoshop?Thanks

Need to build a new desktop for AE and Premiere in dynamic link, and looking for recommendations for 4k sfx capable workstation. My current desktop is now 3yrs old and bumping up ram to Ddr3 32G has not improved preview or render speeds for complex projects.Looking at 128G Ram, m2 NVMe drives, Gpu nvidia 1080 ti or Titan, dual or single cpu? mb?Was looking at benchmark tests on Puget Systems site yet all their tests are only with 16G of RAM, which is not enough for any specialised production work which kinda invalidates their tests.From those tests I was looking at an Intel 8700 cpu, however socket 1151 boards only have 4 ram slots.Really appreciate some advise here!

Well this sucks.Combined my old rig with some new parts to make a new workstation PC and Premiere literally won't run. It freezes at opening/making a project and nothing will work.Here's a brief screencap video i recorded showing the problem in action. I've left Premiere alone in this Not Responding state for as much as 30 or more minutes with nothing changes. It can use 400-500MB of RAM or 4-6GB of RAM. No consistency. CPU and RAM usage is unchanging as it sits there. While open, Premiere is utilizing 2 random CPU threads at 100%This is a fresh Windows 10 x64 installation. Full "Fall Creators Update" latest public updates.Things I have tried:Clearing the cache files (there aren't any, new Windows install)Updating GPU drivers (on the latest, new Windows Install)Switching Premiere from CUDA to Software mode when making a new projectOpening old projectschanging the cache location before making a new projectchanging Cache and scratch location before making a new projectChanging target loc

Hello,I am trying to reduce the time it takes to export a video in premier cc... I have added a NVidia GeForce GT 730 2GB video card..... most recently I upgraded the memory from 16GB to 32GB... I rendered the same 5 min video clip before and after adding the additional memory and to my surprise the render time took 3 times LONGER with no other changes.  HELP.  What am I doing wrong?[Moderator note: moved to best forum.]

I'm going to buy a new computer for After Effects. I've tested my ancient PC (i5-750 OC 4.1 GHz, GTX 1060 6GB, 20GB RAM, SSD 850 PRO) as they did in this article. Especially I'm very interested to know performance comparison for 1080 Ti and Vega 64 on Windows and on Mac. If you have these gpu cards It would be great if you can post your results of these tests here. Too many "Pro" on that tittle, I know. but my question is, will a Macbook Pro with a Radeon Pro 560 be the best choise for premiere pro?Will the GPU work good enough to play prores and lumetri files, it only comes with 16Gb will it be enough?I need to buy a laptop for work outside my studio, where I use Mac. that's why I'm thinking on a Macbook pro. And I used to have a macbook pro the one that came with Nvidia and it was really good for many years. But today Mac is not what it used to be. so I'm confuse, not sure if such amount of money will get me the very best laptop in the market for premiere editing.I don't care about touch bar and I don't like the fact that it only comes with thunderbolt3 ports.Thanks for any advice

The Quadro P5000 claims to have "UNMATCHED CREATIVE FREEDOM" and invites me to "the world’s most powerful workstation graphics". Right.Suffering with a DELL Precision Tower 7810. Can't even use it to edit basic videos, Graphic Card not even tested for Adobe softwares. Good going, money down the drain?Expecting a response.

My new Dell precision with windows 10, 16GB Ram and M1200 Quadro card regularly shuts down during rendering or export for videos - but only when the Mercury engine is turned on. Of course this is a serious drawback for editing on such a pricey laptop. I am using the latest Premiere on the cloud, and have made sure the Nvidia drivers are up to date.Is there anything I am overlooking?

Hello, I just got a windows 10 laptop with USB C and USB 3 ports. The OS is on a 500GB SSD. How do you recommend I setup my hard drives/SSDs for premiere? My Desktop PC has 3 SSd's but obviously I can't fit 3 internally into a laptop. Should I edit of the OS SSD drive or get a USB C external SSD? Just trying to figure this out. I tested on my PC and a regular HDD external via USB 3.0 isn't cutting it as the read speed isn't that good. Even tried proxies for external HDD and it slows down the timeline if I have heavy intense effects.

Hello,     I recently built an i7 Gen 8, Windows 10 system. I also just purchased the Adobe CC subscription with Premiere Pro CC.     I quickly found that I will have to get a video card, so I wanted to ask for a suggestion for my needs.     I am pretty much a Photoshop only user, but I want to see how Premiere Pro works as well. I have a Canon 70D that people tell me takes excellent video.     What are the specs on a decent quality video card, that will do a decent job on video?     Keep in mind that although I will do some video, my primary focus will be still photography, so I really don't want to go to the high on the video card.     Thanks.

Hi all,New here, and new to this whole video editing thing, I wanted to ask if anyone is using either a mac mini or a basic level imac 2017/2018 for 4k video editing?I currently run a macbook pro 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5 with 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 and a Intel Iris 1536 MB  graphics card and I struggle to get the 4k footage to run smoothly in premier pro. I use final cut x for editing the clips together as it seems to run the footage nicely.I'm looking at getting a new mac but budget is a concern and I don't want to go to windows as I'm a lifelong mac user.Any info on how I can make my workflow easier as I love the colour grading Premier Pro offers.Thanks in advance, Dan.

Hey guys,I have someone recording some green-screen footage for me to edit. Some of their clips sound perfect, a couple of their clips have this constant clicking/crackling sound throughout the video. It will eventually stop but what could be causing this? I have been doing a few short videos here and there but I'm about to start doing longer videos and doing it more often.I'm building a new machine.Intel Core i7-7820XEVGA X299 MB256 GB Samsung 960 EVO NVMe M.2250 GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD SATA III32 GB DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) SR x8 DIMM 288-Pin MemoryI also got a nice Corsair H80i v2 closed-loop liquid cooler and some nice Noctura fans. I'm going to try and overclock it some.I have an old GeForce GTX 480 from a gaming computer I don't use any more.I don't plan to use After Effects or 3d or 4k or anything fancy.I'm just making screen recordings and cutting them up.I'm probably going to keep doing the editing on my MacBook.My only reason for this new machine is to export video to post to youtube and other places.A 17-minute simple video took 50 minutes on my MacBook recently.I'm assuming the above specs will make that considerably faster.Would a good video card make it even faster?

Hi, I am painting digitally in photoshop especially for children books, album art etc and i am looking for a monitor with good colour accuracy/represantation. I want to be able to see the colours as close to the final print.I work with CMYK so i suppose that i need a monitor with 100% sRGB. My budget is around 300-400 euros max. I am in the market for choosing a new Mac, but I am seeing many mixed reviews on what is best for editing 4K video. I have been told that the processing speed on the new 15" MacBook Pro would be good enough to edit 4K video without lag or render issues, but I want to be certain. I have also heard mixed reviews about getting a Mac Pro--some good some bad, saying it is not that compatible with Adobe Premier itself.Can somebody please advise if I were to get one other the other, which would be the better to get? And what specs? I assume 32GB of memory is important, but I am no computer whiz and was hoping somebody could advise on what choices I should be making.
