PDF with fillable form - only displays the first letter of the content while in the field

Hello!

One of our sales reps is having issues with a fillable-form .pdf on his Mac laptop (he's running Mojave--so I am, with no such issue).  When he starts typing into a field, he can see the first letter of what he typed, but only blank spaces after that, until he exits the field.  He's using Acrobat DC for viewing his .pdfs.

I've poked around the forums and found a few threads on slightly different issues, mostly having to do with using Preview for .pdfs, which isn't the case here.
