basically, i just wanted to put a smiley on a document with some arrows. i had to go through edit then add picture then the whole background document disappeared. then i deleted the page then reinserted the page then added the picture first and the arrows second, because the "arrange" menu items were not working before. you have to go to "edit" to add a picture and then the document does a whole OCR thing automatically -- and now even Acrobat is hanging with a dialog box that reads: Content Preparation Processyou have to go to "comment" to add an arrow, but the arrows are only available from an icon with a drop-down menubasically -- you have to hunt and peck and now the app is hanging and i am working with a 4 page scanned document i wanted to put a smiley onto with some arrows. geeze -- what is going on? i used to love Acrobat, it was like the surgical scalpel you could use to process and print documents and take care of a good number of deliverability issues, etc. i am working on a b

I frequently have dozens of pdfs that I need to print the comment summaries on. I have the extract commented pages script and it is very helpful, but I would like to automate the next step - printing the summary.  Using Acrobat DC on a MacThank you!

I have created JavaScript for number linking, if I click a number in fig it will go to the corresponding explanation. This was developed using acrobat 8. But in adobe 11 it is very slow to execute. Previous when I execute the script it was taking 2 sec for the file. But for the adobe 11 it is taking 2 min for each file. It is JavaScript problem in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro??

javascript to delete page when i delete the bookmark

I need to be able to backspace text through different text fields in a form.  My code creates another field and sets it to focus when you reach the end of the text field, so I'm just trying to do the opposite now. Is that possible in Acrobat JavaScript?  As a bonus, is it also possible to have text flow from multiple text fields in a form if you're deleting from an above text field?  I'm essentially trying to implement how a Word document's text flows in a pdf form with multiple text fields.

Hi,I have the following problem. I have to scan a lot of documents that have just one page. I wantto have created a task with the scanning procedure. Now I want Adobe to save the documentwith a specific name such as "Lecture - 1.pdf", the next scan should then have the name"Lecture- 2.pdf" etc.. I want to avoid the hustle, that I have always to type in the filename. I didnot find a solution offered by the tools and tasks.Is Java Script a solution? and if yes, I have no clue of Javascript. My employee, Brandon keeps getting a message saying that ‘acrobat XI adobe could not perform ocr because this page contains renderable text’ when he tries to OCR a document in acrobat XI. When he tries to OCR the same document on another employee’s computer with acrobat 9 it works fine. Brandon looked online and the only solution he could find was to turn the document into a TIF file. How do I fix this so that he doesn't have to turn the document into a TIF file to perform an OCR?

We are having trouble completing OCR on documents we receive from the district attorney in discovery.  I am an attorney.  I have Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro.  I went to Adobe's article, Fix the OCR error Could Not Perform Recognition in Acrobat.  The solutions suggested there may be unworkable.  Solution 1 is to get a copy of the PDF in non-renderable text.  I have a call into the district attorney to see if that is possible.  I am very skeptical that the DA will want to change its procedures.    Solution 2 is to convert the PDF into a TIFF and then back again.  While that works, it is not practical for the 8,000 pages of discovery we receive in a case.  The problem is that the conversion from PDF to TIFF creates a separate document for each page.  Those have to be recombined.  That would take weeks of work, which is not practical.  I just want to OCR renderable text and end up with a document that I can search thoroug

Hi There,At work, we get documents that are scanned from banks and they come in black and white previously.  We would be able to take those and use the "Enhance Scans" feature to either recognize text or we are able to convert to pdf's.   We transcribe a lot of the data and being able to convert it to pdf or enhance the pages and grab the text and use it.  We switched banks and now, we get documents with what appears to be newer technology.  They are all in color and adobe picks them up as a jpeg or picture and Adobe can't recognize them as render-able documents.  This greatly increases our workload because we can do any OCR in these documents.   Is there a way to get these in a position to utilize "Enhance Scans" or make them convertible to excel?

We have a collection of PDFs that have been created from scanned, handwritten, notebooks. There is a text layer within the PDF. However, because the notebooks were handwritten, the text layer/OCR is very poor quality.We'd like to edit this text layer. However, I can't figure out how. When I use the "text recognition - find first suspect" option, I get the message "this page contains renderable text". When I click the "layers" button, nothing shows up.How do I get to the renderable text and edit it?

I have created a form in InDesign, but I am tidying it up using Acrobat DC.On a page with 24 rows, each with 4 form fields, I have been using the "Order Tabs Manually" drag-and-drop function to ensure the tab order is correct.The fields show in the correct order in the FIELDS panel.About half of the fields are working in the correct order, but for some reason the tab order on the PDF does not match the tab order in the FIELDS panel.I have tried various combinations of shift-clicking and ctrl-clicking to select groups of fields; I have tried moving individual fields one at a time, but I still can't get the tab order on the page to match the tab order in the FIELDS panel for ALL fields...only about 50% seem to work in the correct order.Some of them work:Some of 'em don't (same PDF):Any ideas?Thank you,S.

I am new to acrobat dc.  I have several check boxes all with different names that I want to trigger the cursor to move back to a text field and change it to "required"for instance if Check box "Corporation"  or "Partnership" or "L.L.C"is checked, the fields NameRow1,TitleRow1,PhoneRow1,EMailRow1 all become "required" and the form cannot be completed without at least row one being filled out.Please help me.I am new to acrobat, and to javascript

I'm working on an eLearning course, and I'm having the learner answer questions throughout. They enter their answers into text entry fields, and the contents of those fields are then saved as variables in the course files. I'd like to pull the contents from the published course files into an existing PDF with pre-built form fields. I know there's a JavaScript solution to this, but I'm still relatively new to JS and can't quite figure it out on my own. Does anyone know how to make this work?FYI, there are 8 text entry fields/variables in the course that I need to pull into the PDF. I scan easily 10k plus pages per day. My computer auto updated last night to this new version. Last night I continuously fed 1700 pages into a single pdf and saved it with no issues. Today I get to page 249 and the whole program locks up. Before the pages processed while scanning. meaning I could see them while scanning. Now the pages act like a buffer and wait till the scanner stops before processing the pages. I don't like this new way of scanning. Really really slowing my workflow down. Any help out there? I couldn't find a setting to get it back.
