Hi Adobe Community,I’m encountering an issue in After Effects where I need to export a rendered sequence (preferably as a PNG, TIFF or DPX (16Bit)) that includes:A fully composited image (foreground and background combined) in the RGB channels.An embedded alpha channel that represents only the transparency of the foreground (not the overall transparency of the final composition).I want to simplify the workflow for others downstream in the pipeline. The exported file should:Show the combined foreground and background in the RGB channels when opened.Provide an correct alpha channel for the foreground only, which can be used as a mask for color grading or further compositing.Is there a way to explicitly define which layer’s alpha channel is used as the embedded alpha during render?Can After Effects natively export a file where the RGB is the composited image and the alpha channel is based on a specific layer?If not, are there any third-party tools or workflows that could achieve this?I’m

Double clicking on a layer name to change the name doesn't work. Only option is to right-click and choose rename. After Effects 25.1.0 build 68

When I use expression loopOut() I always see error "loopOut() is not a function". I tried to use different variants of syntaxes but it didn't help.I saw some advices here but they didn't work too. I use Mac OS Big Sur 11 and 17.6.0 After Effects

I am using the latest version of After Effects (25.1) on a computer with an AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7975WX 32-Core processor, 256 GB RAM, and an RTX 4090. Despite having the 'Enable Multi-frame Rendering' option enabled, it is using only 1 core to render PNG image sequences. Is this normal? Are there any other settings that would allow me to better utilize all of these cores?

In Scripting, Displacement Map Layer is the first property of Displacement Map effect, but it has two option that can be edit. How can I set value of these two options while they both need to be set value? Thanks in advanced if you could answer this, this problem has confusing me for a long time.

Hi,I just recently upgraded my After Effects to 2024. I have 3rd party plugins integrated in my After Effects, but now when I open it it tells me to open with Rosetta or the plugins won't work. The open with Rosetta option isn't there, so how do I get my plugins to work?I'm on a MacBook Air M2 2022 with 16GB RAM.

When I change an AE file that I've got embedded in Premiere in AE, it no longer updates and I have to reload it into Premiere. What gives?

I am using the attached YouTube link to try and create a 3D slideshow animation in After Effects. At about the 10:18 mark it begins animation with a simple zoom in using a Null Object (called "position" in the tutorial) parented to the Camera. In the video, the parented Null Object easily moves via the position tab, but when I try this same seemingly easy step, the camera moves but my video shows absolutely no. movement. The video was made four years ago when the Camera feature did not automatically go 3D on the timeline. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but it's a simple step that I cannot figure out. Hopefully the attached image and some more brain power will help solve this problem.  

I have a script which pulls text from a text file and then assigns keyframes to the sourcetext of a Text layer. All the testing was done with 10 keyframes and it works a treat.the script can open and read the text file and add the keyframes in less than a second. but now I'm trying to add 100+ keys and After Effects just grinds to a halt. it takes minutes and Ae is sitting there chugging 110% of the CPU to do what seems to be a super trivial task. can anybody shine a light in what is happening and how I might speed this process up?

I constantly open files from other co-workers of the studio when they aren’t available or they open my files when I’m not available, but everyone has their own way of arranging the timeline columns, you know, where you find the Layer Name, Blending Mode, Switches, etc. We all struggle rearranging to our original arrangement in which each one is better working with, and this has to be done within each comp of the project.Is there a way to arrange the columns forever as a Workspace, and not as a per-comp, per-file setup?

Hey swarm! I have one greenscreen video file cut into seperate layers using the scene detection function - as this sequence is final cut that has been cut from 5 different camera views before I now have the file split. My goal is to name the layers corresponding to the 5 different cam views like CLOSEUP, TOTAL, WIDE, etc.after keying all those cuts are transparent and I want to add a backdrop that fits SCALE and POSITION paramerters of the camera views. now I sure could set holdkeyframes at every  over 100!!) cut, but my goal is to give the POS and SCALE parameters an expression to detect the layer name or layer color to set the parameters at the next cut. I asked chatgpt to write such a script, but this just set the parameters for the last cut before the backdrop layer over the whole timeline. setting the scene detection to create pre-comps for each cut didnt work either - find the expression followed below:// Define scale values for each camera anglevar scaleValues = {"wide

i look back into the file it gives me and for some reason there is nothing in the folder. It's an empty folder. It used to hold all my files, but i moved them. But i thought the pj file moved with it?? I'm so frustrated i cant exit out of after effects now

Dear All, I have several 360 videos that taken at the same walking route in a location/place but it's taken in different day or month. Therefore, The length of video is different each other. But, Some of them will be same timing in second or millisecond level. I need to optimize the frame position at least in a second level. Could you enhance After Effects to be possible for optimizing the length of frames or duration of footage between two footages? It's necessary to be possible for matching the position of some frames between two footages manually. If there is several markers to be possible for indexing in the specific time to do matching the frames between two footage automatically, It will help to optimize the next task using the footages or output.If there is the functionality, Please kindly tell me. Otherwise, Could Adobe implement the functionality. Sincerely,

I'm creating a script that replaces footage with other footage and have encountered what I'm hoping is a "my problem" and not a bug. I've a template project that has actual footage in it that is the used in varous places in the project.And this works sucessfully with the following blocksThe 2048x1080 footage (source item) get replaced as expected. However, when I tried to simplify things and reduce my template comp by using "Placeholders" or "Solids" in the project window of a different template file.Using the following script block... I get the following error message. Am I stuck with using actual footage to make these templates work? I only ask cause I have to have template footage that can be somewhat large on occasion rather than using internal Solids or Placeholders. Thanks as always.

Hey, I'm trying to connect my Loupedeck+ controller to AfterEffects 25.1. Did Adobe remove surface control? How can I connect my Loupedeck?  

My after effects keeps closing randomly and its not like "crashes" cuz the crash page does'nt show up it js rendomly asks me if i want to save before closing before closing the program  i didnt have this problem before it only started a few days ago and i havent been able to edit for longer than 5 minutes cuz of it ... my storage seems to be fine cos i still have a lot of it so whats going on!!  thank you in advance .......i attached below the log for this issue

I have an After Effects project that was built on a MAC and  sent to me by another editor. I have a PC. Any one know  how to convert a MAC AE project to windows. Is there an app? or can it be converted in the PC.

I have a bunch of PNG image sequences that I'm trying to preview in AE and it won't render multiple frames simultaneously.  There are no effects applied, only a scale.  Successive frames have no dependence on each other so I don't understand why it can't render several at the same time. My CPU is i9 14900k with 128 GB RAM.  I have AE set to render multi frames simultaneously but every time I render a preview it chugs through the images one-by-one, using very little CPU and taking forever. How do I make AE render multiple frames simultaneously (like it did back in the day...)?

I have keyed some RED .r3d footage in AE. If I render a ProRes 4444 with alpha directly from the AE render queue (so just rendering within AE) it outputs fine, though is rather slow. If however I try to render that same comp in Media Encoder by clicking "Queue in AME" the resulting ProRes file looks like the below image, like the keyed out background is instead just washed out rather than removed.Another thing to note - the view on my keylight effect is set to "Intermediate Result", which I always use by default. However, if I change this to "Final result" and export through Media Encoder I do now get a transparent keyed area BUT  I now have very harsh pixellated edges and chatter:Even more bafflingly if I bring this ProRes back into AE those edges and chatter don't appear to be there at all and it looks absolutely fine!The footage is log but the AE working colour space is set to Rec.709 gamma 2.4.
