Hi, I need some guidance from seniors here. I alwys struggle with naming  layers. And we all know how much it is important to name your layer. But i do not know what I should call these types of layes in my animation. please guide me. When you have lots of shape layers in Infographic animation, that act as design material  for  popping up, disappears how should I name these? THESE ARE MANY!  any strategy I can borrow from you Elders!? Please please help me out. The example I attached, should I name it 'chronic inflamation bg shape' ?? such a big name!! often I need to find shapes to reanimate.. what is the proper way to name these kinds of layers in animation... I am after some honed knowledge.  sometimes I stare at all these layers and feel like  'enough with AE, lets quit city life and start living in a forest'..  Please guide me.

I can't duplicate+split layers with the CMD+SHIFT+D shortcut and it's slowing down my workflow massively. I have tried trashing preferences, restarting AE and changing the shortcut for splitting the layer and none of it has worked. Has anyone got any suggestions? It would be really helpful. Cheers.

Hii am really started getting angry about this i maybe dont have a 5000 Dollar workstationbut 32 gb Ram and 6 Cores should be engouth to work with that Software in HD right ?here my system specs Intel i7 4930KGTX 108032GB RAMC: 750 SSD EVOso every time i working in AE or PR but specially AE after 10 -20 mins previewing the program crashes because its out of Memory.Is there anyway to fix that ?  Sometimes i purge everything and it shows like 2 - 40gb of purging .

After Effects 25.2.2 (Build 2) but it’s been like this forevvvvvvvver. Fed up enough to finally submit this. Unless an effect in the effects panel is selected first, effects to choose from are greyed out when right clicking the effects panel. It's not entirely broken - Remove All and Manage Effects are active when right clicking without an effect pre-selected in the effects panel, why can't the effects be also accessible? 

Is there any way to fix this? My project opens but only shows the assets and the timeline is empty.

Say I have a square and I want to extend nothing but the left size. The way I've found to do that is moving the anchor point to the other side first. If not, I would increse the size of the whole shape altogether.Isn't there a hold down CTRL type of deal before clicking and dragging? It seem too much of effort having to move to anchor point first.

Hello!I'm using After Effects CC 2017, but I was using CC 2015 when the problem first appeared (tried to download a previous and a newer version, the problem persisted on both). Here is what happened: .I opened the project. I see the message "Refresh Disabled (Release Caps Lock to refresh the view)" with the black screen, but Caps Lock is ALREADY released. I didn't even pressed it in the first time..When the video is rendered, the message doesn't appears..If I change anything, like just move one layer a little, the message comes back..Any key I press make the message disappears.I tried to reset my configurations, with no success.Trying to finish a project but it's impossible this way. Any of you guys could help me? I'm using a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) Sierra, 2,9 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB.Thanks!

Hi,This is the first time that I have to work in a linear ACES workflow, and I'm a bit confused. I want to use the Content-Aware Fill tool but I'm having issues.Context: I'm working with an .exr footage, I have some VFX to do, and I later have to deliver the compositions in ACEScg.Problem: I seem to have correctly color managed the clip using the OCIO Color Space Transform tool effect (Sony S-log3 ⇢ ACEScg). I then try using the Content-Aware Fill tool, but the result is unusable: the colors are off. I assume that I have to apply an OCIO Color Space Transform on the Fill Layer as well, but I can't seem to find the right color space input/output. I'm probably missing something here. Any idea how I can solve this? Thank you.Project Settings : I'm running on a MacMini M2 Pro 32Go. After Effects version 23.5.0 (Build 52).

I pay an Adobe subscription and have only been able to use my after effects ONCE, I'm so upset. Whenever I open my ae and create a composition there is a black screen and I can't see anything, even if I import footage, NOTHING WORKS, I've uninstalled and installed, older and newer versions, my computer is brand new and great specs (HP Omen 17) and I used to use ae everyday on my old computer with way worse specs and this never happened. I've followed more than 5 youtube videos on different things to do and absolutely nothing has worked please help. 

  

Whenever I playback a composition in AE with the spacebar, it plays for about 4 seconds and then begins looping the section it rendered. It's totally impossible to watch an entire composition without constantly restarting the playback, and none of the playback settings inside AE seem to change anything.

iam completely new to Adobe. i want to learn AfterEffect. please suggest me how to start and which is the best tutorial

I have 8 gigs of RAM (which I know is not enough for the application) but I'm performing a very basic task with some animation, and while After Effects is using only 3-5% of my RAM. I have allocated 6GB for use in the Memory settings and it's not utilising it which is making me end up with very slow rendering speeds. Also, for a few seconds when I started my render, it showed that it was using 25-35% of my RAM and it was evident with the speeds but then it dipped down to 3-5% again in like 5-6 seconds.

Mac M2 MaxMemory 96GBVentura 13.5.1After Effects v 23.6.0Premiere Pro v23.6.0I am working a project which is adding some title/graphics cards and lower thirds to a Premiere Pro project via dynamic link. I am also working with someone else using a windows machine, swapping a removable hard drive back and forth, but we are both on the latest version of all Adobe programs. If I open the .aep from Premiere (Edit Original) to make an edit, and hit save, the entire After Effects project file disappears. It does not go to the trash, it is not in the folder where the file was created, it seems to be completely gone. My workaround for the moment when this happens is to do a "Save As" and put the file back where it belongs, but there is high risk I will slip up and wipe out a project completely by absentmindedly hitting save and forgetting to put it back in it's path.

playback is lagging since the new update my system has been lagging System info    Application: After Effects v25.1.0.68    OS: Windows v10.0.22631, RAM: 31.68 GB GB, CPUs (logical): 8

Hello, I was using Roto brush got everything that I wanted and froze it however, when I played it back, my subjects body goes transparent for a frame so I jump back into after effects to try to roto brush this one frame I don't really know how to properly unfreeze? or to tell if it's unfrozen? And secondly, now my Roto brush layer everything is blacked out except what I already wrote a brush. How do I turn off that?

After Effects crashes on my Mac (M1 Max, 64GB RAM /  32 Core) whenever I import a video or perform similar actions—spinning wheel of death every time. It works fine on Windows 11, but I’d really prefer to finish the project on macOS. Any ideas on a fix? I could really use the help.

Hello, I am trying to use CC Libaries in After Effects and am running into a resolution issue. Multiple Photoshop files in my libary import into after effects at very low resolutions. However the source for this libary is high resolution. When I important this same file into photoshop instead of after effects, it is also high resolution. The low resolution issue is only coming from After Effects. An Example:  Any help is appricated! Thank you!

Hi! I'm new to the AE community and new to learning the program. I know some very basic things, and I’d like to learn more about the most useful terms to understand more complex compositions or to create my own, especially for 2D animation.For example, I want to give an effect a limited time, and then make it come back later in the same layer. Or I want a loop to also have a time or frame limit. I’m not sure if I’m explaining this well, English is not my first language 😞I know basic things like how to make a loop and add effects, simple things like -loopOut("cycle")-, which applies for the whole time of the animation.So I tried looking for a glossary in After Effects, but after reading to understand some terms, I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere. I’d like to understand the order in which expressions should be written, and what the difference is between setting a time limit and a frame limit in a composition.I’d really appreciate any help, especially if someone has a glossary

Hello AE community, I've been working on AE since more than 10 years now and have never encountered an issue like this. There was an issue on one of my projects regarding keylight a couple of months back and I had to do with another keying effect on it. However, post that Keylight seems to be missing from my effects altogether. I've tried everything from re-installing to moving the plugin folder in the Applications but nothing seems to work. Have attached a couple of screengrabs for reference. Has anyone else encountered such an issue? What's the fix for it? I'm running on an Intel MacOS and the latest version of AE if that helps. Highly appreciate any help. Thanks a ton in advance!

I tried pasting unicode Indian Language fonts in After effects CC 2020, and also copying and pasting from text programs, but they are all displayed wrong.According to previous solution for this problem, these are the steps suggested - 1. Go to Preferences>Type2. Select ‘South Asian and Middle Eastern’ in ‘Text Engine’3. Select ‘Indic’ in ‘Languages Selection’But in CC 2020 Version, there is no ‘Languages Selection’ option in Preferences>Type.So I can't change the formatting of my Indian language fonts to 'Indic' - which is required for correct displaying of Indian Unicode fonts. Please help me.This option was available in previous versions of After effects as specified in the article link below - https://blogs.adobe.com/creativedialogue/video/create-text-layers-in-indian-languages/
