I am doing a tutorial. In that "Shape Layer" was created and named it "Rectangle". I do not think it is correct because a Shape Layer can contain any number of different shapes, giving a specific name is not acceptable. What do you think?      

I need help?  Why does the processor temperature rise while running Illustrator and After Effects?

I just bought a new computer that's supposed to have enough power to work well on it and everytime I try using AE it crashes and gives me a blue screen. Doesn't happen wit any other program or game, just After Effects, and not even advanced AE as I literally just started the project. Computer has these aspects: - Intel Intel i9 13th gen 13900k 24 cores- MSI GeForce RTX 4080 16GB Ventus 3x- MSI Pro z790-A Wifi Motherboard- 64 GB Ram DDR5- 2 SSD+ enough power and cooling- Windows 11 I don't know if this issue can be solved with help here or if I have to ask MSI's support, Intel's or Windows.I just want to be able to work properly using every tool I need and that includes After Effects.  

Hello, I'm trying to export a 3-minute video in After Effects. It's made up of animated text in nested comps, background videos, MotionBRO transitions, and music. First, I tried to export the Lossless AVI directly from the Render Queue but the video would come out with several errors and audio popping in and out. When I export the H.264 file in Media Encoder, it works perfectly except for one section where I have a couple of nested comps. (A cell phone animation and nested text). It shows up as bars and tone on the preview and in the exported video. In After Effects, however, the comps are visible and there is no missing media. What is going on and how do I fix this?    Thank you!

when you are working in project and you have a slow preview and slow timeline how to fix this problem what are steps to fix this

Heya,So im currently struggling with cutting out part of a png image so that its seperate so i can animate that part of the image. I'm new to the software and have been trying to use the pen tool to create a mask but havent been able to do more than create an outline around the part that i want to seperate.

I've been using After Effects for over 20 years. I have a heavy duty fast processor, lots of RAM and new graphics card on a PC (trust me, it's fast). All my other software runs smoothly, including AE 2019, which I was hesitant to upgrade because "if it's not broke don't fix it." Because of recent collaborations and because I'm curious about the new features, I've tried to upgrade to AE 2024. It starts up slow, it freezes, it crashes, it locks up my entire computer. Working with one piece of video and one effect it struggles. Why???? I've searched all the forums and followed every tip and setting I can find. Nothing is working. My only conclusion is that AE 2024 is a buggy unusable software. The answer "upgrade to 128 GB of RAM" does not make sense. Newer versions of a software should be smoother and not require immense amounts of new processing power. Adobe, please stop adding so many background process and bloated features. Stop treating your customers like guinea pigs.

I need to paint on 1 layer out of many. I need the layer below it in order to guide where to paint. It seems to paint you have to do it by double clicking it and it appears as a single layer. So how can I use the layer beneath it to paint on the 1 above it? Do I have to permanently combine the 2 layers in order to do this?Thanks.

I want to create a transparent layer so I can add painted effects and images over existing footage - but then remove the original footage and render.  I'm a Photoshop and Illustrator expert but new at After Effects. It seems like a simple thing but not found the answers. Rotoscope tool is too rigid. A simple layer akin to a new layer in Photoshop would be ideal. I want to paint and add new elements so I need the footage for reference - but then need to hide it and render with a transparent background. Thanks very much

I made a video output with Google Earth Studio. The video I prepared will be about military history. I want to show the movements of military units with red arrows in this Google Earth video. However, as the camera pans in the video, the arrows change places. How can I pan the arrows smoothly on the ground in this map-video? I don't want to use a flat map because I zoom in and out with Google Earth Studio. I want the arrows to move and maneuver while the camera is drawing a circle. How can I do this? I'm new to After Effects so I don't know much.

When I import my AI file into After Effects, +1 pixel is added to any layer size, for example, if it is 500x500, then it becomes 501x501. I gave examples in the screenshots, in 1 screenshot you can see how in AI all elements in the layer have 500x500 pixels, when imported to AE in the second screenshot you can see how this layer is converted to 501x501, with absolutely any import settings, I first imported as "footage" and selected a specific layer, then as "composition" with "layer size". It's not about the import settings. I tried to experiment with another illustration, in screenshots 3-6. It's not even the resolution itself, in screenshot 7 it happens in 1920x1080. As if in AE there are settings to add +1 pixel in width and height to any vector layer. Why is this important to me? The bottom line is that when I convert the layers to shapes, they have 500x500 as they should, but they lose the anchor point both in the layer itself from the shapes, and in the shapes themselves inside,

Im using AE in macbook pro, and ecerything is latest like i've bought this last month. I was editing this video in premiere pro and then through Adobe Dynamic Link i clicked Replace it with AE composition. so now i'm trying to stablize motion and its not working, my clip will get analyzed and stablized and everything like the whole process right but still footage remains the same (shaky and like the orignal) and it should be like tracked and stablized but the point i used to stablize the motion is still dancing here and there, tried restarting both project and laptop and even reworked on the project from start but problem is still there. 

I have a muppet style character whos head is like a ball split in half. Lower half is chin, upper half is head.I want the upper half (head) to move up and down in response to the audio track of dialogue to look like its talking. I can get the head reacting using expressions but the movements are small and the position gets skewed. How can i adjust the height and position of the head talking? I'm an AE newbie learning off tutorials so any help is appreciated.

Is there any hot key to snap anchor point of a shape to the center of the shap? video also attached. 

If anyone could help out with this problem, I would be most grateful.I started learning After Effects at the beginning of this year and apart from a few glitches, I am really enjoying the course.Except that AE will sometimes refuse to allow me to change my font.As soon as I click on the drop down menu from the Character panel, a pop warning appears.After Effects: Unspecified drawing error.I need to click on the OK button at least 4 or 5 times to get rid of the pop up because it keeps reappearing as soon as I click on the OK button.Very frustrating!I have found that AE is slightly more compliant when I open the program as the administrator.Can someone help me out with this problem?

Upon creating a LottieFile it doesn't look aynything like my comp. I only have Nulls, Shape layers and Shape layers with masks in my comp. There's also a Wiggle expression active. I'm not expierenced enough with AE to understand the issue, let alone the solution. 

Hello Hello Every one I am using Rotobrush 3.0 in order to remove background from my video clip.I have an audio video clip of 30 seconds where i stand up form my bed and roam around in a room by facing front camera of phone saying something on a topic.I have to apply rotobrush frame by frame in order to remove background. I tried to split it into 2 second video clip each. then start the process of roto brush  in order to remove background. still it doesn't auto propagate properly and then i have to manually enter the exclusion of removing background frame by frame.BrVikas

on the latest after effects software...i can't see the option "Render in to out"...pls help

So I'm really confused and getting quite annoyed right now. I'm currently working on a project for which I have linked some video files from Premiere to an After Effects composition. Without changing anything in my folders Premiere now tells me that a big part of my After Effects compositions are offline. When I go to After Effects and open the Project all the compositions are still there but After Effects keeps telling me: After Effects error: strange situation (0/1026621440) Because of this window that keeps popping up I cant edit or click anything on After effects and have to close it with the Task Manager...  Can anybody solve this problem? Thanks!

I got a new computer and i replaced the support files folder and got my plugins for after effects, and also same with extensions but my ae doesnt seem to have my workspaces, changed theme color etc saved, what else do i need to replace to completely back it up?

I hope you are all doing well.I'm reaching out to share that I’ve completed the development of the Voice Animator Pro tool. Everything is working smoothly, except for one remaining issue that I haven’t been able to resolve.The microphone functionality and speech recognition within the After Effects CEP panel aren’t working as expected. From what I’ve gathered, enabling mic access inside the AE environment is not as straightforward as it seems, and I’m unsure how to properly support it within the current panel setup.I’d really appreciate it if you could take a look and help me solve this problem.Looking forward to your guidance.

It doesnt work at all 9/10 times, and when it does start working it goes away after a few minutes.

I've given Adobe thousands of dollars, and now I want to make a slideshow.  I import the 200 jpgs and then chosse to  layer them with a 20 frame dissolve.  Apparently this is far beyond the capabilities of Adobe products as I get a hundred  "overflow converting ratio numbers" error messages.  Can I get my money back?

I use After Effects 2021 (Mac) and every time I open it these pop up. I've tried searching to no avail. 

I am graphic designer & photographer, now i want to learn after effects professionally for video editing, animation, motion graphics. What could be right way for this please? Can anyone help me on this please?
