upon hitting preview button or spacebar, preview plays, but interface is not reacting and spacebar to stop preview is not working

I updated After Effects Beta to 17.1 and upon clicking on the interface it crashes and saves a crash project to my Documents. I tried resetting my prefs to see if that would solve the issue but got the same result. It worked fine before the update. iMac Late 2013Mac OS 10.14.6

When creating a shape layer stroke, there are new parameters to create tapered or wavy strokes. See the new parameters selected below and please provide feedback on their usability, animation capabilities, and performance.     

Hi everyone, it's my first post here Ok so i've seen that there are now tapered strokes in the beta version of after effect and I was really waiting for this.I have a big project to do and i could really use A LOT this functionality, so my questions are : how safe it is to work on the beta version ? will my project file be compatible with the next after effect version ? and do you have any rough idea of when this is coming live ? Thanks, 

Projects exported to AME only luanch the app, the project never appears.  Seems to happen only with certain projects as others are successful.  The failed projects are on a network if that helps narrow things down.  

It has some issue with closed shape.The round joint breaks into the penultimate corner.

When trimming an offset path, the lines make a visual blip, but it's inconsistent. I'll attach a picture so you can see. The lines cutting through the circles, seeming to outline the wedge left by the trim, would hopefully not happen. Seems to only happen at regular degrees like 90, 180 etc when trimming circles and the like.    

MP4 files appear invisible or black when I bring them into a composition. I remember hearing about this bug for CC 2020 but didn't experience it on my end. I'm on Version 17.1.0 Build 42

I couldn't get into the effect controls in build 42 for a layer I was editing with Mocha AE. On reopening the same project with the production version of after affects, it showed effect controls straight away. I couldn't find a way in the beta version of getting into Mocha.

I've just installed build 42 and it warned me that "Your disk cache folder is on a drive that does not have enough available storage to safely store the full amount...". I'd specified 100 GB max in preferences and the drive still had 122GB left. I'm not sure if this is correct behaviour - I guess leaving 22 GB is not perfeect. But it doesn't really seem right the way it was reported. Also, when I tried to report this bug, I got redirected to the UK site and it lost the reporting process. I had to re-submit from AE and it then correctly came to this page.

The offset paths option for shapes is very nice. I was just playing around with Astute Graphics AG offset plugin for Illustrator which came out a bit earlier. Something in the air apparently. The latter has quite a few more options but AE’s offset holds up well. Nice to see too how well it integrates with the other path operators also. Had a few thoughts on offset copies on open paths . -The connector which appears between copies of open paths should be optional imho. Would be much more in line with what's out there.  -Would be nice to have an option to retain the original stroke. It’s easy to duplicate the path with original stroke, but it doesn’t play well with animating trim paths.   -When copies go beyond the connected parts (when you push the amount//copy offset) paths will continue for a bit, flip and try to get back to the ehm …event horizon or eh ..terminator in a circular fashion.
