Can I rearrange the style list?

I've spent some time updating the style names in a Captivate theme-related layout file from the built-in Cap 9 assets. The vast majority of style names referred to the font name, size, layout definition rather than to the usage. Now my list of styles makes sense from a functional standpoint but is woefully arranged, making working with the styles confusing.

Is there any way I can rearrange the style list? I had hopes that editing the .cps exported file would work; however, it's not a text-type file. I was hoping for an xml-formatted file.

Any suggestions? While I can wade through the styles, I'm afraid less-experienced developers will have a tough time with it.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi Mary,

You touch one of the weak points that I'm cursing about as well: some lists do not have a logical order, cannot be re-arranged and more important: the nice filtering (that you have in Advanced Actions and Parameters dialog boxes) doesn't work. I had to search recently in a list with over 600 advanced actions for a consultancy job (cut them down to about 50). That list in the Advanced Actions dialog box has the same sickness,  my PC did hear a lot of curses.

When I create a theme (styles are part of a theme) I try to define the most used styles as Default styles for different type of objects because they show up in the top of the list. If you save the theme as a custom theme (with its custom Theme Colors Palette, styles, master slides and skin) you are not breaking the Default styles of the original theme that is included in Captivate. It is not an answer to your question, which I believe has no good answer. Crossing my fingers that some inventive user has an idea.

Thank you, Lieve. My computer has had a lot of curses thrown its way this week. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Good for you with managing that ton of advanced actions! What a chore that must have been!

The themes I've put together are pretty tightly organized, too. I was appalled when I saw font names in the style names. Ah well, there have been some nice fixes in Cap 9. I'm hoping style management fixes will be addressed soon.
