Captivate 7 - Where can I find the publishing settings for swf files?

We actually created an authoring tool for swf files as our company publishes Captivate and Adobe Connecte files. With our latest upgrade to Captivate 7 we can now successfully publish to YouTube (finally) but now the swf-file settings have dissappeaered - which we need for our client publications.

1. How can one publish Captivate 7 recordings into swf?

2. If they have been taken out - has someone a workaround routine?

Thank you so much - we have been searching high and low to find answers.

Peter

You can deploy MP4, from a cpvc-file also internally, but it is pure video, non-interactive.

The classic way to create a simulation with Captivate is using Automatic Capture (cptx-file), where you have choices between Demonstration, Training Simulation and Assessment Simulation (with increasing degree of interactivity). And those files can be published to SWF/HTML, to PDF (interactive)...

Another question: are you talking about cptx or about cpvc files to publish? HD Video demo recording leads to a file with extension cpvc, and that is video only, can only be published to MP4 and to YouTube.

If you are talking about a cptx-file nothing much has changed compared with previous versions. That is the reason I suspect you are perhaps talking about the video files.

We recorded a 'video demo' (.cpvc) file as usual and when we tried to publish we were unable to select swf as in previous versions.

As a workaround we did what you suggested above ElGuitarMan 'blank project' 'video menu' 'insert video' and publish. However, this rescue mission did cause some loss of quality and is more complicated.

Do we need to select 'software demo' to ensure that our recording is immediately saved as an swf file? Any suggesions?

Thanks all of you for coming back so quickly - what a relief to know that there is help out there!

I'm not sure if I fully understand your question but if you're asking how to publish to swf then follow these steps:

  1. File | Publish
  2. Select SWF/HML5 option on the upper left corner of dialogue
  3. Select SWF tick-box in the Output Format Options section of the dialogue
  4. Click Publish button

Which settings are you talking about?

What are the recording types?

video recording - .cpvc - files - were the type we selected for our recording as we wanted it to publish (intern as a swf) and externally (youtube as an mp4).
