Hi all, looking for some guidance. I am trying to call a js function from within captivate to an external js function on the page. i have a button on a slide which evokes a function, save(); On my html page where the captivate presentation resides, I have a script and a js function called save();However, the function is not called. I get an error on the console saying save(); is undefined when i click the button on the slide. I m thinking I may have to add the script on the html page of the captivate project after its published, but i thought my way should work. Any advice?
Is there any way to force a screen reader to read the value of a variable rather than the name of the variable? As an example, when I use the variable in Captivate to display the page number, the screen reader reads the name, not the value.
Hello, I created a learning interaction and published it to the computer. It can be displayed via IE and Microsoft Edge, but only shows blank on Firefox and Chrome. I then published it to github. The github page cannot be displayed via any browser.Would you help resolve the issue? Thanks! Hi I'm creating a quiz in Captivate 2019, I'm using the 'Submit All' function so learners submit all answers on completeion of the quiz and can then review the quiz. The first issue I had was that when reviewing, Captivate displays tick and cross icons indicating the answers given and also which are the correct and incorrect answers and I did not want learners to see that information. I got around this by blanking out the icons so now all that is displayed is the answers they gave and no indication whether they answered correctly or incorrctly. However what I would like learners to see is just if the questions was answered correctly or incorrectly but not what the correct answers are. I use some 'Fill in the blank' and 'Hotspot' questions where there is more than one correct answer. Is there any way to set something like this up (maybe by using advanced actions) just to display eather a tick for correct or a cross incorrect or even text stating 'Corr
For some reason, when I upload Captivate courses into our Saba LMS, I randomly have slide objects disappear when users walk through the course. One user will take the course and not have an issue, then another user will take the same course and send me a screenshot with the a block of text missing (sometimes even one of the answers on a multiple choice assesment slide). I've even had random objects disappear from my slides when viewing these courses in Saba. The only possible comparison I can draw from the many different times it has happened is potentially internet bandwidth. The issue occured for me late in the evening when our databases are backing up, and for some of our users it's been when they are at home or at one of our smaller locations. I don't have this issue with our LMS when I use other course dev tools such as Articulate Storyline -- it only happens with Captivate. If anyone has experience or suggestions on how to resolve this, I woul
Me spamming again: )Now I am wondering if there is a way to show the finished percentage of the course down there where the black box are now.As it is set up the grey boxes changes color to green whenever a user clickes on a certain button. I would like to calculate that when all boxes are green that is 100% the course are finished. when halv are green it will show 50% and so on.Hopefully you get the idea.Thanx: )
This play button issue is a persistent frustration for many Captivate users. There are a variety of answers and ideas surrounding the topic and a lot of blame gets placed on the web browsers out there. It is true that web browsers have introduced some new standards to do away with auto play of audio/video but that is a separate issue than the play button you see on published Captivate projects. Even projects with no audio or video at all deal with this. Your users will need to interact with your project to hear any automatically played audio - this will not solve that but it will get them to the first slide that you want them to see. My recommendation is to create meaningful interaction with the project at the beginning - problem solved. If you have already been doing this for years - you know the frustration of making the user click two times now to get going. Here is my video walkthru of solutions to make it go away. Hopefully it is worth 15 minutes of your time t
Hello, I am pretty new to using Captivate 2017. I am in the process of creating a learning module but I am having trouble with additional slide audio. I understand that I can only have 1 primary audio on a slide, however I am trying to get my additional audio to work in the preview view. I have it set so my primary audio plays on the slide then I have my button appear on the slide with audio connected to the button that is to say "Click Here". When I test is using the standard play button on the bottom of the page, the audio works fine. When I test it in the preview mode, the audio's button does not work. I am wondering if there is a way to ensure that the audio works in the final published mode?
Hi,Here is an email I received upon a course review. When I tried the interaction many times (hitting Undo and Reset), I had a similar issue with another drag item (the "divided labor" option). Is this just a glitch, or could a setting be causing this? I've attached two images of the Action and Options tabs, plus the interaction itself, and uploaded the two Captivate slides in question here: http://kristinfiore.com/files/interaction.cptx.Emailed comments: - at one point the ‘integration’ bubble disappeared (see screenshot below), and neither ‘reset’, ‘undo’, or going back to the previous slide would bring back that bubble. - once, after I dropped one of the bubbles on a destination, the presentation jumped to the next slide. I had not clicked submit or any of the slide controls. - when I dropped the last remaining bubble (but had not yet clicked submit), there was a brief flash of some text in red block backgr
When I published a video recorded in software simulation mode to MP4, first, the typing process is skipped in MP4, then when I tried to publish for more times, the publishing process got stuck. I tried to close Captivate, open the project and publish again, but every time it just stucked. I have tried for several times, but it just got stuck. Can anyone help to solve the problem? Thanks very much!
Hi, I'm working on a project using Captivate 2019. This project has an assessement question in-between it. These question slides are created using the default MCQ master slide in the Captivate tool. In these question slides, I need to include an instruction button which should pop-up a screen with instruction content. Using advanced action script, I have achieved this pop-up fuctionality but the problem is that instruction pop-up is appearing under the question content (stem and choices). How do I move these question content under the pop-up? Looking forward to hearing from you. Regards, Altrin
I work for a large healthcare organization. I develop and work with Captivate created eLearnings. Previously I was on Windows7, used Captivate9 with no issues. When we moved to Captivate2019, for some reason I had to get administrator priveleges to my computer to continue to use the software. Then, when we upgraded to Windows10 our IT department is now saying we can't access Captivate2019 without an admin account created, but when logging to Captivate now as an administrator, we then can't access our Captivate files unless we do a lot of transferring and transferring back. Has anyone else encountered anything similar? To me it sounds a bit irrational and ill-thought through. I have attached rationale I plan to ask leadership/IT to revisit, but wanted to see if this community has heard of anything similar. (Also, sidenote, does it take everyone else as long to publish HTML also - noted in attachment?)
Any news on when an update of Adobe Captivate that will run in Mac OS Cataliae will be released? End of fall 2019 has passed, in my mind.
I've been publishing my Captivate 8 files in exe format. By popular request, I've changed to publishing in pdf format. However, upon review, some (not all) of the animations are not appearing. We're using Adobe Acrobat 2017 to view the pdfs. Can someone explain why some of the animations are not appearing? I've made a "sampler" of the animations in pdf (6 MB), if there's a way to get it to some one to review. Thank you.
Hello,I have to fix someone elses project including a rather complex final quiz. After failing the test we offer to retake the test, but either way (using the "restart quiz button on the feedback slide or using the TOC) going back to the start of the quiz, the questions will display my previously given answers w/o the chance of refreshing :-(. Well, when I close the WBT and restart it, I get free to use question slides again once. Any ideas are well appreciated. < Maybe there is an easy way like insterting a simple script at the beginning of the test or of each question slide like "delete all answers given"?... > Background info:I'm using Captivate 2019, the initially used version was most likely CP 2017.The final quiz consist of a mixture of classical quiz-slides and interaction slides (drag & drop labeling onto photos) that report into the final test. The feedback slide reports correctly the total number of attemts to pass the test (i.e. after restarti
I apologize ahead of time for what I think is a stupid question. I am VERY new to Captivate. I'm reading a lot of articles and watching a lot of videos to teach myself the program. I"m having difficulty finding an answer...can user created variables be assigned to buttons? I'm trying to hide the "next" button until certain other buttons are clicked. The buttons do not have to be clicked in order. Thanks.
I inserted this interaction, previewed it, and it was working fine. I published it and asked to view the output once it was published, and then I could no longer move the cart from left to right using the arrow keys as instructed. Any ideas why it's not working? Thank you.
How do you get rid of the inital play button with the index file, and have it start with the first slide instead. See the screenshot.
I created a new responsive project from scratch and got 79 slides into it at the endo of the day (saving along the way). When I returned to it the next day, none of the slides appear in my Filmstrip. The first slide appears, but the none of the text is visibible on it. I can see none of the other slides. I previewed the project and the project plays, but the text from the buttons is missing as is some of the text from the Master Slides. Any ideas what's going on? Jason
Unfortunetaly I've updated already to macOS Catalina 10.15 and cannot work with the Captivate Release 2019 (Update 3). What date is "End of Fall 2019"?
I recorded a video in software simulation demo mode, but the mp4 output just skipped the typing process, could anyone help to solve the problem? Thanks a lot.
We have had a Captivate Course running fine and recording completions in our SuccessFactors LMS. Since Dec though, the course no longer functions. On launch, the Captivate logo (below), is the only visible item on the Course for the end user. Any inputs appreciated.ThanksShiv
I'm trying to acess elements inside of a web object that I've added into my Captivate project, through an external javascript file that I've linked to the index.html output file of my project. I'm pretty stuck on how to do this, but essentially I'd like to be able to control my webobject via the external JS file. I built my webobject with an html/css/js file structure and it uses css classes to toggle some animations. Is there any way possible I could call the function I created in my webobject from my external JS file? In my external JS file I made function for custom navigation back/forward buttons, and I'm hoping that once the user lands on the slide with the web object, the next button would then activate the function of my webobject, instead of taking the user to the next page, then once that's done it would move the user to the next page? I hope some of this makes sense, any point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
I've created custom nagivation next/back buttons for my Captivate project by inserting .png's of my buttons, then attaching a javascript file that gives them the funtions of "window.cpAPIInterface.next();" and "window.cpAPIInterface.previous();" All I'd like to do is 'disable' my next button on a certain slide (until a specific condition is met) - I'm at a loss as to why removeEventListener isn't working? I have something that looks like this - var currSlide = cpAPIInterface.getVariableValue("cpInfoCurrentSlide"); var nextBtn = document.getElementById("nextBtnc"); function runByPages(){ if(currSlide==27){ window.nextBtn.removeEventListener("click", nextSlide); } else { window.nextBtn.addEventListener("click", nextSlide); } runByPages(); function nextSlide(){ window.cpAPIInterface.next(); } All of this is placed inside of a function which has an event listener for "CPAPI_SLIDEENTER", so I believe it should be running it each time the user moves to a new slide.
I would like my users to only use the button to go back and forth between the content. See the screenshot for explanation. Is this possible?
