Questions

We have about 30 courses for a complex software product. We have baseline versions, but need to produce individualized courses that include client modifications. We use conditional text tags in the FrameMaker files for our user manuals and I would like to do something similar with Captivate, but so far can't find anything that references a similar feature in Captivate. Is it possible to use conditional text as in FM, or will we need to duplicate the project and edit it for client modifications?

Hello,Recently, my Adobe Captivate 2017 has stopped detecting my audio device (logitech headset). It was working until one week ago but has stopped working now. I uninstalled and reinstalled the headset, tried a different headset, worked on the settings to make sure the headset is set as the default in everything involved. I've searched forums and am coming up with nothing. Does anyone have a fix or idea on a fix?Thanks,SP

Hi sorry I am still learning Captivate 2019 and when I am setting up a video demo I am only seeing about a quarter of the screen I need to record. See image 1.When I use the snap to window function this locks the red rectangle in position over the quarter of screen. See image 2 .How do I set this to record the whole screen?

Hi,I'm using a company template when I create projects. Often when I'm previewing or publishing a project, the company template gets overridden. The end result is grey, and missing for example next / previous navigation arrows, which are included in the template. This is what the end result looks like:I've tried to pin down the exact conditions when this happens, but it seems to happen erratically - for example, it doesn't make a difference which previewing option I'm using. I usually publish the projects to my computer as HTML5 / SWF, using the Force re-publish setting. The only cure for this is to close down Captivate, and delete the preferences folder, as advised in this (brilliant!) article.  I'm currently using Adobe Captivate 2017, but this happened previously also with Adobe Captivate 9. My operating system is Windows 10.Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is there a fix?

I looked at the demo (http://trycpcontent.com/homet/) on my phone (LG V30) and ran into some issues.1. When I went from one hotspot trigger to another the text overlapped with one another. Can you put in a statement which hides the previous content once a new hotspot is triggered? 2. How can you answer a question? I was unable to select either True or False on a question.3. I'd like to display paragraphs and bullet points one by one. The best way I can imagine doing this it to place a smart shape the same colour as the backround overtop of the text to hide it and then remove it to reveal text. The box is set to 100% alpha and It looks good when I working on it in captivate, but when I preview or publish, this box becomes just slightly transparent.Is this just a bug or am I missing something?Is there a better way to do paragraph/bullet reveals?

Hi I am trying to capture a video demo in captivate 2019. However, when I select Slides> Video Demo> then select the slide I want the video demo to be inserted after and I get a dialogue box which says he following;Capture is disallowed since High-density was detected. Please set DpiAwareness = 1' in AdobeCaptivate.ini and restart the application.Any ideas how I can get video demo to work correctly?ThanksSteve  

Good day.I am new to e-learning design and Captivate. When I add background audio to my project and preview, there is no audio. The narration on the slides work but no background audio. Please help?!

Hi,I am facing this issues with Captivate 9 when importing an image for a roll-over.  I am importing an image (that includes a text box created in snagIT) as a roll-over image. I was using a font of arial 18 in captivate, but when I imported a text box with font size 18, the font was appearing rather too big, although the font size is the same. Not sure why.And faced the same issue with a text box created in ppt too. When I imported the text box, for some reason, it was getting imported at a huge size. And same is the issue with font size. The font size in ppt is appearing rather too big.Is there any way how I can match the font size I had created in Captivate. Let me know if I am missing something.

As the subject implies, I need to know what capabilities Captivate has in the area of prescriptive testing.My organization is HOT for the idea of learners being able to take a pre-test and then, based on the test results, route learners just to the course content they need.  Example, a 10-question test covering five objectives, if the learner demonstrates proficiency on objectives 1,2, and 5 during the pre-test they'd only have to go to the content for objective 3 and 4.The Multi-SCORM packager would seem to be the tool for this, but I'm not having much luck finding specific info on it's functionality.Thanks in advance for the help on this one.v/rJay

I updated a link to a web page in a Captivate 9 project. Before updating, the links worked in the SWF output. However, now they work in preview, but not when I SWF output file.Does anyone know what the issue is?Thanks.

I made the switch recently from Captivate 8 to Captivate 2017, and almost immediately I ran into trouble.I have a matching slide in my quiz, published to HTML5, and two things are happening:The dropdown menus for answer choices are being cut off near the bottom of the screen.  I've been able to find no solutions for this online, other than moving the content up on the stage to allow for more room at the bottom.  In SWF output, each dropdown menu displays a scroll bar so all the choices are accessible, however we don't use SWF output in our workflow anymore - we only publish to HTML5.and even worse, when the learner reviews the quiz, none of the content I placed on the slide is showing up in the review.I've rebuilt this slide from scratch twice now, and I can't get the content to show during the review.Can anyone please help?  Here are screenshots of both issues.

Hi,Iv made a responsive project for the company i work for and when we upload the project into the LMS the play bar seems to stick in on place.heres some images of what i meanHere. this looks correctbut then when you scroll within the window this happens...here is another example, the next arrow on the right moves when it has not been set to do soDoes anyone know why this happnes? it only seems to be when i make a responsive filethanks

Using Captivate 8. Have numerous text entry boxes. These work fine on the computer, but on Tablet and phone the soft keyboard pops up automatically covering up important information.I've already shifted the text entry trigger till later in the slide (but this prevents type ahead) to allow more of the content to be visible for a while longer, but I'd like the keyboard to remain closed until the user actually clicks in the text entry box.I suspect this is simple to setup but I have not been able to find an answer or a "control" to prevent this from happening.

When the course completion settings include 100% slides viewed, does that "slides" criteria include states? We recently had a course that wouldn't show completed in our LMS even though there were no branched slides and all slides were visited. I tried to find this answer in the forum but didn't find the answer to whether slide views also includes state views.

Hello,I have adobe captivate 2017 and when i try to open i have the error “Adobe captivate has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available”. I restarted my PC for 10 time, i clear cache , i deleted the soft and i installed Adobe captivate 2017 release for windows but i have the same error . Someone can help me?

My organization has a license for version 6 of Captivate.  I had to use a trial of 2019 to open a project I completed on my personal account while working remotely. The trial is set to expire, and I cannot figure out how to transfer the slides to version 6. I tried exporting and importing as XML, and just copying/pasting each slide. Neither showed any result of a slide opening in 6. Thanks!

Is there any way to get the hand cursor when you rollover the Reset and Submit buttons in drag and drop interactions? I'm using Captivate 8.

Good afternoon,I am have several quiz questions in a Captivate 10 (2017) course. On some of the questions, when I go back and review the correct answer is displayed as shown below. However, it's not consistent throughout the course. Sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesn't. Anyone know what setting that is ties to? I've turned a few things on and off in Quiz Settings, but haven't been able to pinpoint it and the quiz questions are all set up the same.

Using Captivate 2017 (v10.0.0.192), I created a horizontal line shape with an arrow tip, and I was trying to use the EaseInRight (or Fly In) animation to have it come into the frame, and then some words appear above it. It's a very sharp look, and it works fine if I do a regular preview. But if I preview in HTML5 or publish in HTML5 and view either locally or upload to ScormCloud, the animation does not work. The line just starts at the place where it's supposed to end. If I set the starting alpha to 0, it fades in, but it does not move.After struggling with this for a long and frustrating couple of hours, I discovered that if I make the line crooked instead of perfectly straight (even shifting down by only 1 pixel), the animation works. It's weird and a lame workaround, because now my professional looking intros are all slightly crooked.Has anyone else experienced this, and can anyone think of a better solution? Hi Friends,  I have created a splash screen for my learning. It is an image and a sound clip. I want to add that to my theme. I am having difficulty getting the audio to work. Is ther a way to add audio to a slide in a theme?Cheers,Peter

I'm creating e-learning lessons with Captivate (2017 Release). They involve showing a streaming video. Since there is no widget for Vimeo videos, I'm using a Web Object with the Vimeo embed code. It works great, but here's the problem.There are two timing settings that are needed. The first is the slide duration, which I always set it to about 5 seconds longer than the video that will play. This is so the slide doesn't time out and continue the lesson before the video is finished.The second is the Timing setting for the video itself. It is set to "Display For: Rest of Slide." I've also tried setting it to a specific time that matches the time set for the slide duration.Everything is hunky-dorey unless the learner decides to pause the video. Once resumed, it gets cut short at the end because the slide timer apparently keeps running.I looked into any kind of parameters that could be included in the Vimeo embed code. It doesn't work when it appeared to work for both of them. I get the error that cpAPIInterface is undefined. Here is the console from Firefox:Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks.

Problem - After I publish a Captivate 9 project as a video, the closed captioning does not display as you watch the video and listen to the audio.I think I followed the Captivate 9 instructions:1 - An audio file has been imported and saved in each slide.2 - From the Audio drop-down, I chose Audio Management3 - I chose a slide with an imported audio file and clicked the 'closed caption' button at the bottom of the screen4 - On the Closed Captioning tab, I entered three rows of text for the slide5 - I saved and closed the Slide Audio window6 - On the Advanced Audio Management window, 'Yes' now appears in the 'closed Caption' column for the slide I chose.7 - I closed the Advanced Audio Management window by clicking 'OK.'Closed captioning does not appear in the Preview.When I publish the project to my computer, Closed captioning  doesn't appear when I publish the project as a video or as HTML5 / SWF.What am I missing?
