Question

Is there any way to have a visited state or even just a different shape after a button has been clicked on a master slide?

I have spent hours reading the discussions, blogs (especially by Lieve including toggle buttons) and also videos about not being able to change states on the Master Slides. I'm getting the feeling that there is no way to have an indication that someone clicked on a button on the master slide. But just to make sure, since I am a newbie, I wanted to ask again.  I am creating navigation, and I don't care that much about the rollover or down state, but I would like the  user to be able to have a visible indicator they have already clicked on a button. Just like when you click on an Internet link you go back to the page, and the link is a different color. Is there a way to create an advanced action on a master slide where I can toggle to a different shape and jump to a specific slide? That might be a work around for a navigation bar on the Master slide. However, I have not been able to figure this out, and I don't want to keep trying if it's just not possible.  Thanks! Elissa

I am on the road, cannot offer you an extensive answer. You cannot address

the button because it has no ID on master slides. Too bad, states for shape

buttons are still not possible in master slides, including the Visited

state.

My suggestion is to replace the master slide button by a shape button on

the first slide, timed for rest of project, always on top.

Showing a hidden shape on top of a master slide object is not an option

since master slide objects need to be on top. Showing a check mark next to

it, check mark being on the slide is possible. But that will be only for

non responsive projects.

Wow, thanks for the quick response! I should have mentioned it is a responsive project. So, you are saying I would not use the master slide at all, but I would use  the first slide in film strip view for the navigation bar and have the buttons appear on the other slides by timing them for the rest of the project?

Responsive project, but which workflow? If you are using Fluid Boxes (CP2017 only) you cannot use objects timed for the rest of the project at all.  This is not a problem if you are using Breakpoint views. Have a look at my comparison:
