I have a Magewell USB Capture HDMI device that works with other software and as a webcam but Adobe Character Animator gives me the "Selected camera is unavailable". How can I get this device to work?Windows 10, Adobe Charater Animator V3.3.1
Since character animator is pretty new it's hard to find people dabbling in it. With everything going on my employees haven't found the time to fully learn it yet. But we would still like to use it as part of our videos. Is there any recommendations of people already creating pre-made puppets or using character animator on a regular basis? The only one I found is GraphicMama. Any recommendations are welcome, other than posting to a generic job site.
I recently updated to the new version of Chacracter Animator and the media encoder, and now I am unable to get scenes in CA to render. They will appear to go through the render stages, but when the file completes, it's unusable. It shows as being a 1mb file, and there's nothing in it. I've tried exporting as .mov and .mp4 and I keep running into the same instance. Any ideas? I'm running Windows (latest), and I have more than enough resources. I've never run into a problem with this before and am curious if it's update related or something else.
Hello.I'm currently working on an animated short film for my YouTube channel, but I need assistance in the animation department (more specifically, animating with puppets that I have created). I typically do all the animating on my own (using Character Animator and After Effects), but this next project is rather big and I'm going to need some help. What's the best resource for hiring people who are knowledgable in Character Animator?Thanks!

Hey, friends.I've been wondering for a while if it was possible to use the Leap Motion Controller to trigger keyboard triggered hand gestures. So I found a cheap one on ebay and whipped up this little experiment:This uses a third-party app called gamewave that allows for highly customized mapping of gestures to actions. For this test, all i did was set it to detect when each hand was moving upward and simulate a keyboard press, whcih then triggered a simple forward/reverse layer cycle.With more experimentation, I think a lot more is possible.

So you make an avatar prepare a script, follow tutorials. Film the footage you want, then the app asks you to use a completely seperate app to turn it into an MP4. Whatever install Media encoder but then all I get are error messages saying it failed to connect to Media encoder. And nothing I've seen online is helping, can someone help me? and can adobe just give Character animator a finish and render button, would solve many issues. Please help I've got not idea what I'm doing I'm stuck.
Hello! How do I design a character to talk in a full profile view and be able to see the background behind him? Front and 3/4 view mouths typically are filled because of the inside of the mouth. I'd like to have a character talk in full profile view without out his mouth filled or the fill of the head seen. (See attached images. I'm shooting for the bottom image.) based on my limited skill with CA, I'm guessing it's not possible without creating a head for each phoneme (mouth shape). Does anyone know if this possible? Any suggestions?
I am trying to animate various characters, and have noticed that the arms will slightly twitch and move, even though I am being still. I have played around with the sensitivity, Limb IK...and it still records with the slight movements. It's not smooth. IS this a problem for others? Is it a problem with my computer? Although I have more than the basic requirements to run Character Animator. Could my background be too busy while recording?

Hi, I just finished archiving a project in AE that had dynamic links from Character Animator. When I dragged my CH project, CH media, and CH data into the archive folder it wiped everything from the CH project. I have no puppets or scenes at all.Has anyone else had this issue?
Hello.This is is my first puppet in my life. His name is Synek. I createt him using Blank puppet from Adobe.com and following Okay Samurai' tutorials that are great and without those tutorials I could start my project at all. I have spend 3 weeks to create this guy and he does not work.Before the head was turning, both eyes working fine. Today nothing. It does not want to stich to the ground. Runs all over the screen.Only lip sync works and the right eye. Hello Everyone. I am attempting to animate my first character and I captured a performance that I like, but my puppet moves from one pose to the next very slowly. Is there a way to speed up my puppets hand from rest position to a point position for example? I thought I could just manipulate the duration for each draggable move on the timeline like I do in After Effects. No luck so far.
Hi I'm wanting to replicate how my Charactiser puppet is set up and use that rig in another puppet. The basic thing I want to do is have the mouth shapes be the full face (as they are in the Charactiser) and set up the eyebrows so that when the eyebrows move they warp the mesh. The Photoshop file (pic attached) has these bounding box symbols in the eyebrow layers I don't understand but would like to reproduce the warping effect rather than have seperate eyebrows moving on top of the face.
noticed I have no option to select PRO mode when running character animatortried to check for updates, selected check for updates menu option and get specific messaage: creative cloud application not found, see image attached on Mac Studio M1 Max Machine running Monterey the app seems to be running fine, but i did notice a variation between the UI i have and the one in the video released yesterday portaying the PRO mode selection.
My puppet, a chicken, has multiple profiles and uses the nutcracker jaw property to move the beak. When she is talking, her head can turn. To record only the talking bit, I have to enable in total 10 Nutcracker Jaw properties, which are scattered in a static and long list of all kinds of properties. I wish I was able to group the properties in the properties panel or at least organize them in some way. Or are there other suggestions how I could enable/ disable multiple properties like 10 Nutcracker Jaw properties at once?
Is there a way to bring a media source into CH to play during a live stream? Maybe a video I can loop in the background for advertising. I'm thinking I would bring the media source into OBS instead.
Hi, I'm starting to play around with with the blank character. I noticed some tags are highighted in the tags pane and some are not (see screenshots). For example in the face the left pupil and left pupil size are highlighted on the right pane, where right elbow and right wrist are not. Will this affect functionality at all? Thanks!
Has anyone made a character that has 3 mouths? I would like them to speak together and at times apart from eachother. Each mouth I will record the same dialog but picthed up and down octaves in Logic. I think Ninja suggested applying mouth behaviors to all three when i asked on a video but I am about to import it and am being cautious. Can I assign each mouth to a specific audio track? with transcription from priemere pro applied to each of course. How could I go about it simply? is there a way? I watch videos for help usually but my situation here seems to be unique and no one has tried yet or explained in any videos how to go about it. My WORST case scenario is to have each mouth in a separaret character animator file and alpha them to put together in Premiere pro but i would REALLY like to not have to do a work around like that if i dont have to for all three mouths. I have drawn a total for 27 unique mouths for them and I would really like to learn how to make this p
I have 2 questions and if anyone can help I'd be very grateful; 1. Is there a way you can change the preference of where Character Animator files get automatically saved?2. Is there a tutorial on how to organise your files and closing a character animator project properly before you open a new one? I've been using CA on and off for a few years now and have watched hundreds of hours of Dave's tutorials and I'm still so confused about saving project files and why some end up randomly placed elsewhere on my computer and how can I change this, alsoWhen you have a project opened I'm always concerned I'm going to lose my work or 2 projects will get placed in the same file, so I Quit CA and open CA again with a new project, which I know is a bizarre thing to do but I don't know how to do it without a fear of losing my work. I don't know how to close a project and open a new one without the 2 opening in the same project. I'm confused about having more than 1 project open at the
When I create my character in CH it seems to work okay. When his left arm is above waist high it appears to move correctly. At waist high spuracticly (it does not happen all the time) it drops and hangs from the elbow when I use my charcater in AE. Can anyone help?
I have a client that wants me to add closed captions to a video that I am creating. Is such a thing possible? What tools would I need to use?
Wondering if there is an easy way to lean someones head to the side without it tilting their body with it. Hopefully without having to fully re-rig something just for that moment. It would seem like the "head tilt" in the face behavior should control this but the tilt seems to be coming from the waist instead of the neck.
