Questions

When adding rigging to a puppets legs: I have the following layers (same for right leg)     Left Leg ->            Leg - artwork/path for leg            Foot - artwork/path for footI'm having trouble with what layers to add the tags.  So for Leg tags (hip, knee, ankle and sticks) do they go in the outer Left Leg layer or in the inner Leg layer (does it matter which)?For the Toe and Heel tags do they go in the Foot layer or the Left Leg layer?Last question, if I want the feet to stay fixed on the ground, do I add the Fixed (thumb tacks) to the foot layer, leg layer, or upper most character layer? Thanks,Robb

Having problem with hands warping when they are moved with drag handle.  Instead of pointing in the direction the arm is moved its seems they are almost fixed in their direction so when you drag and arm points up, hand is wanting to stay pointing down. Dear Adobe membersI just saw some tutorial here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOBM098PiAwfrom okay samurai, that tell me to use text transcript,instead of auto lip sync on Character Animator.but once I tried my own audio,the window parameter on the right side (record mode)just not appear what so ever.there's no such further information on the tutorial,so I'm a bit clueless here.please let me know for any hint I should do.Sincerely Yoursblossom cactus

On the character I'm rigging, I have blurred edges to cheek blushes (bitmap art from PS). As independent layers, the blushes are accurate. But I tried to follow Dave's "Stan" character, whose hair is attached to and moves with the nose (inside the Nose group). However, when moving the blush art into the Nose group in PS and then updating in CH, while everything looks as expected in Rig mode, the blurred edges of the artwork disappear in Record mode, leaving a hard edge. I tested out placing the blush in the Left Eye group, and the same effect ocurred. To further confuse things, the correct blurred edges return when I raise the opacity of the art in CH about 5% or more (it's normally 15%).

Hello all, I've been unablet to open a fairly large CH file and keep getting errors like the attached. I've seen a few other posts regarding this issue in CH but I've tried all the workarounds with copying the 252 data from the SQL file and updating the master but nothing has worked for me. This is a fairly large project and it would be a huge let down if there is no sort of recovery process on Adobe's end. I made a copy of the project folder before I started messing around with the above, so hopefully someone will be able to help/point me in the right direction. Please help! Thanks.  

I need help with how i can move two characters with adobe characters in the same scene like doing conversation ? 

Hi, the camera is laggy when it goes through Character Animator. I can see it's slower than usual and it is also laggy compared to the charater in general. The most obvious result is the lip sync being completely unusable.Are there any settings I can use? I might missing something. (my computer has the basic requirements) 

Soon after starting Character Animator I get the following error: CaptureFrame has size less than 640x480.When I click ok it pops back up and wont go away until I force quit the app.  I am on a mac pro with a radeon 5600xt screen resolution 3440 x 1550. Any ideas?

After working in Character Animator for awhile the top pull down menus won't stay down when I click on them. They flash open and close and will only stay open if I hold down the left mouse button while clicking. hi guys,This is just an issue that I had and found the answer after some digging. Also a request for the Adobe team, maybe they can address it.When I name a layer in Photoshop "Left Pupil Range", Character Animator automatically tags this layer as "Left Pupil" and "Left Pupil Range".Tagging as both causes a weird behaviour when warping the pupils. In this case, you have to select the "Pupil Range" layer and uncheck the "Pupil" tag.Well, I hope it makes sense. Thanks!

I've tried using the different alpha encoders such as Quicktime/GoPro Cineform RGB 12bit with alpha to export my animation with a transparent background, but my windows computer says it's not supported when I go to watch it. I need to be able to make this animation transparent. Can anyone help?

So when starting a new puppet after going back and forth from character animator and adobe illustrator working on it, after i saved it and closed the app when reopening animator to continue working on puppet i cant seem to find the puppet anywhere. I can in illustrator but not in animator as i had it open at first going between apps. Do i save in illustrator as a pdf, ai, or one of the other like ait? Then when opening animator again how to i find it? Do i click file and open recent project, or import, or click scene or another way in history or something? Seems this should be so strait foward and simple to find or maybe im just getting frustrated and making it more complicated than what it acfually is. I basically know how to fully work on the puppet layers and rigging but when it comes to finishing the puppet, saving and/or opening the puppet again to use in another or new scene or even the same scene i am off on. Please if anyone has had this sort of problem or knows where i am goin

Is there a way way to reduce how much my character bounces up and down while running?

I've been working on creating a puppet from scratch, can do most things, but for some reason I can't figure out how to get the walk function to work. I've watched the same tutorial, and I've had little success. What am I doing wrong to prevent the walk function from happening. I've tagged everything, made sure to mirror what I saw on the tutorials. Also, sometimes the head bounces and other times it gets distorted, what am I missing?

HelloI'm working on blocking an animation cycle, I added a head movement, to check if everything looks good before I clean it up. I do file / Export / video via Media Encoder and the result is that the video is different from the scene, as if there was a lag in the animation of the head and the reappearance of the default arm that I made disappear set the opacity to zero, I tried different way of outputting a video, I even output a png sequence, I also changed my computer, there is nothing to do, the video remains different from the scene.Can you help me ?The first video is a screenshot of my scene in play, and the second video is the result when I export the video through Media Encoder.

So, back in summer I made a character rig for a client. Then, there was silence and now, months later, they finally got back to me and want more characters. The problem is, in those months I've opene Character Animator exactly zero (0) times and I cannot for the life of me remember how I managed to figure out how to make the rigs behave the way I want. I'm trying to compare the settings but there's an error that I am unable to eliminate. Let me explain the problem:The rigs need to be draggable so that the characters can "jump".On the original rig, this worked out:On the new rig, a weird point is created in the middle of the face that remains there even as I drag the character around. Naturally, this doesn't look great. Another issue I have is that the shoes get distorted and sort of fold into themselves when I drag the character up.I remember dealing with this the first time as well and I think it was some small setting hidden somewhere, but I just cannot find it again, and t

 i buy this puppet online , but whenever i open this puppet on CH my system was hang , and showing this ( not responding ) on screen  ! I have all the necessary specifications for CH Animator , but i will be hang , please help me in this 

Hi [Ch] community, I'm trying to figure out a better way to embed a video (screencast) into a device (tablet) that's being held by a character in one hand and pointed-to/touched with the other. Currently I'm using a green chroma for the device screen and then placing the screencast video in the layer behind and making the green chroma area transparent. It works, but the anti-aliasing on the puppet's hand is picking up a green glow. This is before rendering, with the green chroma key. This is after rendering once the screencast has been inserted using the chroma key. It's not the end of the world, but I would like to find a better method. Ideally I would like to render the video with the sequence in place. For some other variations of this theme it's easy because the puppet isn't holding the device, and I can put the video in a layer behind the puppet. Hello. I created a character in character animator and also created a whole composition in after effects. I'd like to bring my character from animator (after I record the scene) into my after effects composition. What is the best way to do this? Can I bring the finish AE composition into CA? Or do I record my character in CA and then export it to AE? I also want to make sure it is just the character without the white background. If anyone has any tips on how to do this that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i can't find any correct documentation or any video about volume control on the timeline, nothing in the forums, ! and have literally spent 3 hours trying to find this.  This is insane Adobe!!!!!!!  i am a very experienced editor/effects creator, first time in animator.  Totallly insane that i can't find it.

I am teaching my public school animation class this software and the can turn down parts of audio clips, but not turn them up. Can anyone help?

I wish there were an easier way to find/select or just read the tags easier to know which tag is which and easily select to delete etc.  I find this most on the hand when you have multlips tags for alternate images and dragging behavior etc. ( see image)  It's really bad when you have mesh turned on.  I know I could reduce my overall screen resolution but it would be nice if there was something built in to maybe choose a larger font or some other way to easily read what each of the tags is without having to select them, move them out and then use windows zoom just to read what it is. Thanks,Robb

For convenience I've kept almost all of my characters and animations together in one project.  Recently I made a puppet that does face & body turn and has 4 colour options for almost every layer (largest one I've created so far) and I noticed that Character Animator has slowed sygnificantly.  I can understand that the puppet is likely a bit for my computer to process in comparison to my other work but I'm wondering if my overflowing project panel may be part of the problem as well.Thanks in advance for any advice 🙂

Hello! Newbie to character animator. I created a character by replacing each layer on a premade character animator character. Everything went well for the most part, and I was able to fix a few other things, but I can't seem to get the pupils to move. Any tips on how to do this? I will attach below my puppet.
