ADE is not recognizing my Nook. It is greyed out. I can't put my book on my Nook from my computer. Please help.

I have followed the instructions on the "help" section and made sure to plug in my Nook before opening ADE, but the option to put the book on the Nook is still not there.  Why is isn't ADE letting me transfer?
