Questions

I am currently using Dimension 4.0.3.  I just downloaded Dimension, and I am very new to the software. However, I have previous experience with 3D modelling software like Blender, SketchUp, 3DsMax and AutoCAD. I picked up Dimension to explore packaging design. When I looked through the available YouTube videos, I could see that everyone had a lot of tools and options. But nothing will show up when I click on an object to modify the size and materials UVs. I can't modify anything. Is this a bug in the new version? Should I downgrade? I can't seem to find any answers on the internet as well.     

The work I do with Dimension requires me to show the same models with different color mockups in one scene. Prior to the big update I used to just duplicate my models and quickly change color in the duplicate, but now every time I copy an item, all of the materials are linked. For grouped objects with the same color but different textures, it's super inconvenient to have to break each material and reassign a new color to each individual object. 🥲 Is it possible to add a feature to either disable automatically linked materials when copying items or an option to break all linked materials? (And if this feature already exists, could someone point me in the right direction? 😊)

I am trying to create a dual texture on a single surface. Its a product bottle rendering. The label is Matte with Spot uv. So some is matte and there are shiny features. Something like this. Anyone have a solution? Can it be done in Dimension/PS.

When I use a PNG with a transparent background as decal, the decal appears to be aliasing. If I use a PNG with a solid background the image comes out crystal clear. Does anyone know how to solve this? I need to use the PNG as a decal instead of adding the image as a color because I loose the ability to effect the glow and matte effect on the white areas. I can't add a decal with a colored background because again I loose the ability to add glow to the white areas in addition to the metallic object material and matte lettering (as seen in the green below). In the image below, the green shows what happens when I use a decal with a colored solid background and the blue shows what happens when I use a decal with a transparent background (look at the letters). Images for both are the same exact size. These images are just a screen shot of the render preview but the same thing is shown when the actual image is rendered.  

 Con la nueva actualización de dimension 4.0 no se puede importar archivos existentes de versiones anteriores, siempre aparece el siguiente error y pide que se reinice el programa.Se puede abrir el archivo directamente sin problema aunque sea versión anterior más no importar.

Hello, since version 4..., the transform tool has not been working correctly with a mouse, only from the panel. I have tried everything, including deleting the cache, restarting, reinstalling, updating everything (Win, drivers, Adobe...), and cleaning the registries, but it seems like a bug. This problem did not exist for me before version 4. When I hover the mouse over the arrows or squares, the color (active button) does not change. Oddly, when I start a new file, it sometimes works but only for a limited time and with some basic shapes.The active button color doesn't change when hovering the mouse over the arrows or squares. Oddly, it sometimes functions upon starting a new file, but only temporarily and with basic shapes. The red "x" indicates non-functionality, and it's not responsive to the mouse. After verification (with any other mouse), the mouse and drivers are not the issue. My system specifications include Windows 10 Pro, an i7 5820K CPU with 6 cores and 12 logical processo

Does Dimension work under macOS 14 (Sonoma)?

I saved a file, then about 5 minutes later needed to get back into the file to make some edits. Every time I try to open the file, I am met with a prompt telling me Dimension is "Unable to Open Document", and requests that I post the Log info here so that you can diagnose the issue. I have included that log info.

Our team work directly from Lucid Link storage platform, ensuring work is constantly backed up. 99.9% of the time, this is seamless and lag-free. However, I had a Dimension file that refused to fully launch. Here's a screengrab - it's confidential work, so only revealing a relevant snippet. As you can see, the top elements are displaying correctly (this is a POS display unit). But, the packaging is all black, so graphics missing. Also, the App palettes to the right weren't populating with Properties / Actions etc. I moved the file off Lucid and onto my desktop. It launched perfectly fine! Thought I'd share in case someone had a similar issue. Relieved I didn't have to rebuild!  

Hi, i'm trying to export a UV for a project. I drag a cube into my scene and go to Object > Export UV. I follow the promps but no UV file is created. Does anyone else have this problem?I've tried this with a few differetn shapes and models that are available in Dimension and haven't had any luck. I've also tried Generating the UV's before Exporting and still no file is generated. If you have any ideas that would be great.

Estou tendo problema para salvar meu arquivo aparace o seguinte erro:  

I am getting this error (log attached) every time I try to import another adobe dimension file. I do this all the time so super frustrating that I'm getting these crashes. Any idea what I can do to solve this? My workflow is I have a file open I'm working on. Go to import content. Navigate to another .dn file and click import. The progress slider loads to 100%. I can see the new layers in teh scene window appear but then I get the error message that an application restart is needed.  I'm on MAC OS 14.6.1 on an M2 Macbook Pro Any ideas??

I've created a very simple scene with a simple table in it and rendered it out as Medium quality PNG on Windows 10.  The render took 16 minutes and ended up looking like this- very similar to the low quality. Any suggestions?Michael

Hi.I have updated to 4.0.3 and working with it is much smoother. But i am struggeling with the decal rendering… it is pixelated even more than before in 3.x … i tried any format and size but it seems none of this i sthe reason. How can i solve to get a decent rendering? I am using Macbook Pro M1 … I have read all the discussions and this topic is very old, any suggestions were Windows OS related… so any ideas with Mac … i case ths is a hardware issue. Thanks!Alex

Bonjour, Depuis vendredi dernier, je n'ai plus d'affichage des fonctionalités alignement et répartitions, ni les poignees permettant de déplacer un obljet sur les 3 axes... J'ai essayé de ré-installer versions précédentes et le problème est le même, tant sur PC que MAC. Un screenshot ajouté pour montrer mes 2 pb, le bureau est selectionné mais pas de poignées et le menu alignement est activé mais pas de fonctionalité apparentes.... Quelqu'un a t il une solution ?! D'avance Merci,

Hi all, I have recently updated to Dimension 4.0.3 and it appears that the Share for Review feature is no longer available for me to be able to share models. Is this correct or has it been moved? It used to be in the top right hand corner under the share icon menu, however this looks as though its just exporting a snapshot or scene/objects.

Hello, in the latest version and version 4.0.2 of Dimension, I can't see the sections related to Adobe Standard Materials and Substance Painter materials. The tabs for the materials are there, but, for example, I can't find "Damaged Glass" material. However, I can find them without any issues in versions prior to 4.0.2. I am experiencing this problem on both Windows and macOS. How can I solve this?

Bonjour, Depuis la dernniere mise à jour,  je ne peux plus ouvrir certains fichiers .dn générés avec les précédentes version de l'applilcation .  Macbook pro 2018 (2,2 GHz Intel Core i7 6 cœurs , 32 Go 2400 MHz DDR4)Une solution à ce probleme ? Merci pour vos retours Cordialement

I'd been using Dimension for a few years - the simplicity and effectiveness worked so well. While the update is an improvement in many ways, some of the simpler effects are either hidden behind sliders elsewhere or counter intuitive? For example, creating a glossy white plastic version of my logo with directional light, casting shadows and reflections was super easy.  Since the update, I'm struggling to achieve the same effect. Where's the clean, smooth white reflective plastic material we used to have?Thanks

When i duplicate a grouped object and then try to change the artboard on one of th the duplicate items both items are changing. Meaning the origninal and the duplicated box change to the art board being selected for the second duplicated image. How do i stop this? What am i doing wrong?

Hallo in die Runde,ich versuche in der neuesten Version von Dimension die Größe und Auflösung vom Dokumenten einzustellen. Normalerweise ist neben "Neu erstellen" noch ein Button mit drei Punkten drauf, worüber diese Eintsellungen gemacht werden. Der fehlt jetzt komplett - Was kann ich tun? Ich habe es schon deinstalliert und neu installiert.Bei der ältern Version ist es vorhanden aber da sind ja leider noch nicht so viele tolle Texturen etc., also ist es keine Option wieder darauf zurück wechseln. Ich habe mal zwei Screenshots angefügt.Das weiße ist wie es sein sollte, das schwarze, wie es bei mir ist.Was kann ich tun? Gibt es noch einen anderen Weg?Ich bedanke mich jetzt schon mal für die Hilfe. 🙂
