i was learning to insert text along a path in adobe cc but i keep getting an error saying you must click on a non compound, non masking path to create text along a path. what does that mean

Hi there

What software you are using.

If you are using Illustrator, that means you can not use the Type on a path tool if you have a compound path, A compound path is for example a shape like the letter "o" or the letter "i" or any shape with more than one element, if you go to the menu Object you will see compund path and you can release the compound path, but maybe the object will change
