Files were created in Frame 11, and work/appear normal.SVG image files created by Solidworks Composer. We have now updated to 2022 FrameMaker, and now that same SVG image will no longer appear.The SVG file is showing as a white blank.  Not missing.  Not re-scaled.  White not grey.   Double-click in the anchored frame opens the SVG file as it should.The SVG image appears fine and can be inserted into other documents or frames. A solution found, has been to re-import that file (as mentioned, FrameMaker object properties reference the correct file, and has it automatically selected when the import dialog box appears).It just won't show it until you have imported that image into the anchored frame. Again. The same file, scaled and located the same as it "was" , now appears.   This would be fine for a small task, however, this means hundreds upon hundreds of image updates for us here.Is there any way to automatically update, or re-

I'm having an issue on a certain user's machine with the catalogs. The entries in the catalog are displaying strangely (see snapshot). it's hard to read them and navigate the catalogs. (NOTE, the snapshot is a re-creation of the issue on his screen as I don't have access to it at the moment)

When trying to update from version 16.0.4 to version 16.0.5, I get an error message that tells me there is a conflict. It says "Please save your work and close the following programs for all logged in users, then click "Continue": -Adobe FrameMaker, -FrameMaker is invoking characterMap.exe (Error Code:131)" then it says Quit or Continue. and Get Help. I followed the directions in Get Help, but it is not solving the issue. I am the only person with the program. No files or books are open. I shut down anything Adobe related in task Manager and any other items it says. It is not fixing the issue. Originally I was doing an update in hopes that the program would not get hung up when I was trying to save the book as a PDF.

Hi, I want to create some DITA topics with <xref> elements in them. I want some of them to be empty so I can specify a cross-reference format to use. On some of them, I want to use literal text like this:   <xref href="xyz">Literal text</xref>   This would correspond to the Text field in the Cross-Reference dialog box: How do I code this in my dita topic so that FrameMaker does this when I open the topic? I am working on a large XML application and now need to use inclusions (referenced files). All files are in a custom XML format. I know FM can handle these types of inclusions as they do work for DITA content, but I cannot figure out the read-write rules I need to make it work on my custom XML. It looks like the dita_fm client does all kinds of things while importing and exporting, but that is not documented anywhere. I can create a script that pulls the included files in after opening the main document, but when I write the main document to XML I do not want FM to push all the content of the included files into the main XML. I tried using a rule (which is described in the read-write rules reference) 'writer drop content' but that rule seems to make no impression at all. Anyone has experience with custom XML inclusions ?

Hello, I just generated two PDFs using Structured FrameMaker Version 17.0.2.031.  In my first PDF my assembly drawings looked a little small.So I went into the framemaker file that contained these drawings and, one-by-one, changed the sizes to 75% via object properties.  They were originally 60-something percent.Now these pictures and others in the PDF are moving OFF the page at the top.Why? What I can do to fix it?  I just want these pictures to fit on the PDF pages at a good size.   Please let me know.  Thanks and have a great day!Brian

How to add a Book Cover Page in Adobe Frame Maker?

I'm growing increasingly fond of invoking XSLT from FrameMaker Extendscript. I can now consolidate formerly multi-tool, multi-step workflows into a single Extendscript.But ... in scripts for distribution to others, I don't know where to put the XSLT file. FrameMaker wants a fully-qualified path for the XSLT stylesheet. My AppData folder seems right for "me", but the path will vary with the user. And without a fully-qualified path, FrameMaker looks for the XSLT stylesheet in the FrameMaker application folder -- not really an option because of Windows filesystem protections.I don't want to tell my customers to "edit the Extendscript to point to your copy of the XSLT stylesheet". I could set the location in a config file, but even that doesn't seem optimal. I've tried this in both the Personal Speceship demo files and in a document of my own. I go into the Reference page of the Index.fm file, find the SeparatorsIX paragraph style and put a tab with leader dots just before the page number. When I regenerate the TOC and Index, the page number still has no space between it and the index entry. 

A header for stationery first page Includes a simple image (a yellow circle) an overlaid organizational name.  This page is called "right."The first page of the stationery is associated with Master page "right". The image from the Master page right does not appear on the first page of the stationery.  I've been using FM for more than three decades.  What have I done to screw this up? 

I received an error from FM 17, and after sending the log file to fmerror@adobe.com, it bounced: Is there another email address to send crash log files?

FrameMaker changebars work well in text, but it is difficult to put a changebar next to an entire table. I have a free scripting solution that puts a nice changebar along the whole height of a table. I am trying to loop through all of the items in a FrameMaker menu with ExtendScript. I am using this code, but it only gets me the first command on the menu. Is there a way to find overrides in the Body page when you get the Keep/Remove Overrides message?

Is there a way to add a graphic/text in the side head next to a specific table row?When our documents are going through a review, our reviewer would highlight content that needs to be reviewed by the subject matter expert (SME). I can easily achieve this for any paragraph-type content using the following Element set up in our EDD:(Icon_UnderReview is an image to mark content to be reviewed). When using this element in a table, the image (Icon_UnderReview) is added above the text in the cell. Is there a way to have the image still appear in the side head next to the respective table row? I don't want to use an Anchored Frame as that will require the reviewer to manually insert the graphic every time.

FrameMaker 2022 help (in Home > Structured authoring > Author structured content > Create equations using MathML) provides a link supposedly to information about MathFlow. It now displays info.wiris.com/mathflow-info, which explains that MathFlow has been replaced by MathType. The 30 day temporary license to MathFlow is still available, but attempting to convert that to a permanent license attempts to bring up a web page that doesn't exist. Attempting to purchase MathType directly does not list a FrameMaker version. Is there an available way to use MathML in FrameMaker?    --Lynne 

Hi, FM 17.0.2 I have a problem which I noticed today. In one of my paragraph formats I have this autonumbering: F:< ><n+>\st–\t The dash is an en dash. The font is OpenSans Light Italic. https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Open+Sans Today I created a draft PDF, and today I had some new paragraphs with this format. The en dash looks fine in FrameMaker, but in the PDF it is converted to a w with diaresis. Only for Open Sans Light Italic. Not for Open Sans Light. Not for Open Sans Italic. Not in Word and a PDF created from the Word file. Not on the Google Open Sans web-site. (There I can enter characters to test.) Also in regular text without autonumbering. Also in a new FM file with the FM default template with Open Sans Light Italic. Also after a FrameMaker restart and a Windows restart. Also after a MIF wash. Also with the latest version of this font. Not when I print to a PostScript file with or without Acrobat data. (Printer is Adobe PDF.) Not with Publish with Acrobat Dist
