Ai document not opening when I choose ignore to leave the linked image unchanged

Usually when an Ai document is mssing a linked file it asks to choose Replace or ignore. When we ignore it the Docu,emts has to open without changing the linked image. But for me the file is not opening when I give Ignore. How can I resolve this.
