Suddenly the hand-tool (hand) is turned on and stuck. I pressed the space bar many times, but issue do not let go. Switching to other instruments does not work, but menus and hotkeys do. This behavior in Al, ID, I even installed the AI beta, everything is the same. All the latest versions.Demo:Hardware:MacBook Pro 2019Intel + AMDmacOS Sonoma 14.1.2 Did not help:- Reset settings- Uninstalling/installing Al via cloud- Reboot in Safe Mode, start AI and reboot again.- I found tips to disable mac OS dictation. But I don't have it enabled. Rebooting the computer temporarily helps, but then the problem returns.Contacted in the end to tech support. The support connected via a special program for remote access.In Activity monitor completed all processes where Adobe and Creative is mentioned. For this assignment I'm doing, I had to hand draw and scan each diagram. I did an image trace, but most of the objects generated were partially filled to where it was in the scan. To work around this, I expanded all the shapes, and dragged each one to form a complete object. This enabled me to add color via live paint. Is there a faster way to achieve the same results?

Hi All! So, a question regarding the failry well known fab Script written by John Wundes: renderSwatchLegend.jsx  I need to create a chart that specifies just the LAB values underneith the swatches that the script creates, but curiously, the LAB values that the script produces are always wrong - they're always out by a digit and I don't know why.    If I double click the swatch in the swatch palette, the LAB value is correct/as it should be, it is just the text that the script produces and lays onto the artboard that is incorrect. Please see following image. Any ideas why this glitch is happening?   This glitch happens consistently on every single import - the lab value that the script generates onto the artboard is never the correct value. Help!                 

Hello,When I set a stroke to live text, the stroke is aligned to the centre of the edge of the fill, by default. It is not possible to align stroke to the inside. Is it possible to mask the portion of the stroke that is on the outside of the fill while keeping the text live?Offseting the Path of the stroke should work but in this case, there appears to be a glitch with the font and the offset stroke doesn't quite follow the contour of the text. Creating outlines is not an option here as I would like to keep the text live (also, outlines do not always follow the original type but may approximate it). I have tried using opacity masks with multiple strokes of different sizes applied to the text but have not been successful in achieving what I want. Basically, I want to apply stroke aligned to the inside of live text!This is for CS4.Thanks.

I am currently doing research on implementing LiveEffectPlugin in Deno (https://deno.com/) and I am strongly seeking information on LiveEffect with rasterization. The LiveEffect built into Illustrator implements things like “rasterize”, “blur”, and “drop shadow” that involve rasterization processing, but I am having trouble finding examples of implementing such effects. (Even after searching through the SDK documentation, open source projects on GitHub, and other references) Does anyone know how to do this? The GoLiveEffect method of the plugin has been implemented so far, but the set pixels are not reflected on the screen. Hi all,I'm looking for a way in Illuastrator to be able to add some text, automatically to hundreds of boxes/shapes on the basis of the name of the shape. The text would ideally be centered to it's corresponding shape. For example, to turn this...In to this;Am I missing something already existing? There are some mucky work arounds involving exporting .svgs of boxes and writing .svgs with text, but I feel there must be a way to do this all internally within illustrator but this seems the realm of some scripting, which is a bit beyond me!Any thoughts? 

Hi all, For years until very recently, our agency's go-to method for sharing for-print proofs for on-screen viewing has been to work within a CMYK document setup, but save/export as an Adobe PDF with the color output converted to destination -> Working RGB profile. This generally resulted in screen-accurate colors to those that would eventually be printed. Generally, all of our colors are assigned from a Pantone bridge palette. The resulting PDF could be compared over the working file on the same screen, and colors would be very accurate between the two. Begining some time very recently, this is no longer the case. We're seeing very different resulting colors from the saved PDF vs the working file in Illustrator. There seems to be no difference between leaving the color profile as CMYK, and of course CMYK colors viewed in an RGB/Web browser are never accurate.Going through my normal export method:CMYK Color Mode Document: Save As -> Adobe PDF -> (General) Optimi

I had to change text to OUTLINES as the end-user of the file didn't have the font i used.  But, I didn't save the file with the actual font before converting to outlines...yikes!  Now, I want to edit the text, but can't figure out how to change the OUTLINES back to the font.  I did find font, found the font in my SYSTEM, but can't figure out how to make it go back to that font. i selected the text/outlines, and then did FIND FONT...don't know how to work it!The Echelon font was changed to OUTLINES.  Now I want to change the OUTLINES back to Echelon so that I can edit the text.  Help!

I am trying to create a tshirt design that can be simply updated with people names - I have created linked concentric circles with text along the lines (image 1) but now I want to overlay text (as in image 2) but I cannot get the text to wrap around an outlined letter - or even a simple shape (as in image 2). Everything is in the same layer, text is at the back, online Adobe live help say it is not possible and to mannually more the words around with the space bar... Has anyone got any other ideas?

Hi, I know that if I closed all the layers, this issue wouldn't happen.But isn't it still non-intuitive that when dragging a LAYER in between 2 other layers, even when that blue line appears, showing you where it will go once you release the mouse, the layer ends up being "swallowed" by the nearby layer, instead of simply re-organised there ?I am curious what was the thought process behind choosing this behaviour ! Am I doing something wrong ? 

Hey there, Recently, I have started getting dot on my artboard randomly and I cannot click, delete, or interact with it. It doesn't affect the final image so it's not a big deal but it's annoying and I am curious what it is. Has anyone seen this issue and if so, have you found what it is and a way to get rid of it? It doesn't happen to all of my artboards and it shows up randomly. Thanks

I don't know when this started happening but it's recent. Most of the time, I can't enter Opacity Mask. When I manage to enter (after doing the same steps tens of times), then I can't exit it. Steps: - Select an object with an opacity mask - Click "Opacity" - Click the opacity thumbnail At this point I should enter Opacity Mask mode, but it's not happening. If I repeat the same steps 5-10 times it will eventually enter it. At that point, if I try to exist this mode through the same steps (Opacity panel -> Left thumbnail), it will not exist Opacity Mask mode. If I uncheck/recheck the Clip checkbox before clicking the thumbnail, it seems to work.   I've already restarted Illustrator and reinstalled it. It's something with a recent version I think.[Edited by Moderator]

I have a problem moving objects, I don't understand what's going on at all. I often copy objects from Illustrator to Photoshop, when I go back to Illustrator sometimes it happens that the copied object is locked and I can't move it. Additionally, a window of the Library pops up which I never use and don't need. I have to turn off the program and after turning it on it returns to usability. How can I turn it off?RegardsWoj Jar 

Applying a glow to an object using a spot color from my swatches, then editing the spot color afterward, the glow effect color did not update while editing or after commiting a change to the spot color. Turning the glow effect off and then on again in the appearance panel reset the appearance of the glow and the updated spot color shows. I think this applies also to other live effects using spot or global colors. Please can the spot colors displayed in object effects update as you are editing the spot color? Before commiting the color change ideally (as object fills and strokes update live as you edit the color). Thanks for your consideration.

OK, SO I HAVE SEEN A FEW POSTS ON THIS AND NONE OF THE REMEDIES WORKED. IVE GONE INTO THE RESOURCE FOLDERS IN INDESIGN, I CHECKED EVERY FONT FOLDER, AND STILL I CAN NOT FIND THIS FONT TO GET RID OF. ANYONE HAVE ANY LUCK? [Renamed by Mod]

Indesign gives you a dialogue option to replace existing instances of that swatch/spot colour in your artwork when you delete a swatch/spot color. It would be super useful to have the same behaviour in Illustrator ... making it much easier to add a new colour and clean up all instances of unused similar colours. The only cost is having to dismiss the dialogue if you want to simply delete a global/spot swatch that is applied to one or more objects in your artwork, if you want to keep the colour on the object and make those instances no longer global/spot colours (the current only option/default behaviour).Thanks for your consideration.

Selecciono un objeto y no puedo mover con las flechas, es raro porque en Photoshop si puedo mover las figuras con las teclas. Agradezco su ayuda. Muchas Gracias.  Hi,I created this custom JSX script in Illustrator to export selected designs. Hi community.I hope some one can help. I have created some very detailed illustrater designs, and sent them to be  laser engraved. When the engraver opens my illustrations in the EZCAD softwear, curved areas have become straight. Some areas of the design have straight lines across them instead of following the curved line of my drawing. The designes were hand drawn with a pen and tablet using the paint brush tool on illustrator, Out line strokes was selected with a colour but there was no infill colour selected as the designes were made up of lines and dots. They are verry intricate and detailed, but one colour.I followed advice on youtube in how to export them for engravibg. I.e- I exbanded the design, merged it, chose one colour and then united all the colours as one. This worked well and I was able to send the designs with no white back ground, just the lines.  But as I said, when these designes are opened in EZCAD softwear the curved line is becoming anguar and straight.

Hello! I am new to illustrator. I've designed a wedding invitation and I'm pretty confused about figuring out the best practices for converting my document from RGB to CYMK. Can anyone lend their advice? 1) I have been editing my invitation in RGB. I can convert the document color space to CYMK, and in addition, a YouTube tutorial said I had to select all of my objects/artwork in the document and Edit Colors > Convert to CYMK. When I do this, the resulting picture on my screen looks pretty washed out. Is this cause for concern? 2) Because I got spooked on the above method, I exported the Illustrator PDF in RGB then brought it into Photoshop. I imported the file as CYMK and when I exported the PDF I chose the option "Color Conversion: Convert to Destination" and selected "Destination: Working CMYK" (see photo). Does this result in the same output? Thanks!
