Hi all. To work around the lack of any way to set arrowheads on a line programmatically, I need to open a file containing the necessary graphic style or element. The File.openDialog function does indeed raise a file dialog, but so far I haven't seen a way to get default Illustrator locations. Most users will not know where these are. Any insight appreciated.

After the latest Illustrator update, I know have text within an illustration that will not select no matter what I do. And no its not locked!

I've been working on some illustrations in an .aic document. Saved it to the ACC so I could work on it at the office and at home.I was working in one of such illustrations, Illustrator lagged, then told me it quit unexpectedly. But when I tried to open the file again, it pops a window that says: "Document contains incompatible object(s) This cloud document contains objects that are not compatible with the current Illustrator version.To open this document, use the version which the document has been created." The illustrations are made of flat shapes and strokes. The most complex one used the brush tool but nothing else. Not even gradients, it's as light and simple as it can be. I can perfectly see the preview but it can't open the file.Trying to download the file gives an error (in the ACC app and on the browser as well). I tried updating Illustrator, nothing happens. Still the same error message. What can I do. My work is on the line.

I've tested other HEX Codes and there doesn't seem to be an issue, but when I enter HEX #: 6595ff, the color shows up on the  Color Picker box, but won't adjust the color to the selected graphic.  It will either revert back to the last color or just "accept the color" but not change the color.   I have already reselt color preferences, and still nothing.  I'm stumped as there are no "out of gamut" warnings or anything.  I entered the code manually, entered the codes in RGB manually without entering the HEX code and nothing.  I have no other issues with other HEX Codes, just THIS code.  Can anyone help?

  I set up print files and take the finals with cut files & finishing guides and paste them into proof documents for clients. After the latest update for illustrator 29.5, it no longer previews the pasted files. It acts like the file is much too complicated. This happens on some of the most simple files I do each day.On the same note, Acrobat can not handle what I consider simple previews either. It blinks and blinks and BLINKS... until it finally loads.My system is a 64GB memory Apple M3 Max 2023 MacBook Pro running OS 14.7This is a brand new issue with the update to 29.5.  

I use Inches as my "General" unit of measure, but in the new 2018 version (running under Win 7), it doesn't stick.I'm pretty sure all my other preference settings are sticking...it's just Units that won't take. On every launch or New Document, it reverts to Points.I've tried all the combinations, (prefs dump/reset, close/relaunch, reboot, set with document/no document open, set at the rulers, etc., etc,. etc.), I can think of short of uninstall/reinstall...Anyone else see this?

I spent a good hour or two writing out a detailed post about some confusion I have witessed regarding blending modes in Illustrator. I included a diagram that demonstrated the blend modes  did not care which definition you used to create your color, the results would be the same.. When I tried to submit the post, I got an authentication error and I just don't have it in me to write it all out again. Here is a JPG of my diagram demonstrating the same results for different blend modes in eery color space in Illustrator. I am hping that I did something wrong and that someone can figure it out. DM me for the original Illustrator file where you can select any circle on the page and view its color definition and blend mode.  

I've downloaded a PDF with outlined text. But when I open the PDF in Illustrator I'm getting a 'missing fonts' error message - even though they are system fonts that i have on my machine. The text has been converted to live text and has lost all it's formatting. Others in my office opened the PDF and the text is outlined.  I've tried downlaoding the file again, and it's now displaying as outlines. Is there a reason for this? My software is all up to date and I'm running Sequoia 15.4.1.

No idea how this happened but I closed my file as usual then when I re-opened it all of the artwork is flat and has a big blue 'X' on it, all one piece. Any help here would e greatly appreciated!

Hallo Adobe-Support, wir nutzen in unseren Illustrator Dokumenten oft die Deckkraftmasken, um unsere TIF oder PSD Bilder als Schnittmaske zu verwenden und den Hintergrund mit einem Grudge Effekt durchscheinen zu lassen.Leider ist seit der Version 29.5 nun ein Fehler aufgetreten, welcher schon seit CS2 nicht mehr da war. 80% der Elemente mit Deckkraftmaske verschwinden, da die implementierten PSDs oder TIFs nach erneutem Öffnen extrem hochskaliert werden und nur noch Weißbereiche zu sehen sind.Ich konnte das Problem zumindest temporär beheben, indem ich die ältere Version 29.4 wieder installiere. Leider ist dies keine langfristige Lösung, da uns so wichtige Updates entgehen. Wird die Funktion der Deckkraftmaske weiterhin unterstützt oder ist es wirklich nur ein Bug der mit der nächsten Version wieder verschwunden ist?Danke für die Unterstützung.Beste GrüßeJulien

Century Gothic is installed on my mac, it is one of the base fonts used form my company designs (that and Montserrat). Suddenly it doesn't register the font and just changes it, without letting me know. When I have finished working on a file, save and re-open, Century Gothic has changed to something else (doesn't even give the font name in the character bar or highlight it as a missing font). When I copy and paste something from another file where Century Gothic is working correctly, it changes it to gibberish or won't let me type 'correctly'. I have tried re-starting, pulling original files and working directly from them in case of corruption, re-installing the font. I don't know what else to try. Below is an example of simply copying and pasting from one document to another, the actual type changes.

Hello. I just started using Illustrator. I can write arabic and have arabic keybord added to Windows 10. In programs such as notepad, word, Edge, the key B becomes "lam-alif" when hit (with keyb changed). لا It is the letters L and A (lam alif) combined, a common "fixture". As I stated - it works fine in any Windows or Linux program, but in Illustrator it gets separated "auto-corrected" and I wonder if this "auto-correction" can be turned of. /Valter Ekholm

Hello, after updating AI my cursor stays all the time black, does not let me do anything on the screen and every time I try to draw or type something it kicks me out the screen.Any suggestion?  Hola, despues de actualizar mi AI mi cursor permanece negro todo el tiempo y no me deja hacer nada cada vez que intento hacer un cuadro o escribir me saca del programa. Alguna sugerencia ? 

I cannot seem to find a complete description of the Adobe Illustrator object model, only the scripting guides, which are a good start but seem to provide only a partial list...does one exist?  My immediate problem is figuring out the script add arrows to path: e.g., "turn arrows on, for both sides of selected stroke, using  arrow head 3 scaled at 50%". Easy enough to do by hand using the stroke menu, but not obvious how to do it via a script. In case it matters to the answer, am still in CS5.1. Thanks for any help.

I think I accidentally pressed a keyboard shortcut or something and now when I move an anchor point or a handle with the direct selection tool, all the anchor points and the path that isn't directly on each side of the point I am moving disappear until I let go of the mouse button. I am used to seeing the path and points of an object the entire time while adjusting an anchor point. I have looked through the keyboard shortcuts and I can't find anything that would seem to fix this. I have already tried restarting Illustrator and that didn't help.

Just update Illustrator to v29.5 today (2025.4.28), then I opend an .ai file made with previously Illustrator version (maybe v29.3). Illustrator v29.5 can't show the correct typeface (font) in some Chinese text, even using the "text correct tool (didn't know the correct tool name)" Hardware: Mac Mini M2 ProOS: macOS v15.4.1 I'm pretty sure it's v29.5 bug, coz I downgrade back to v29.4, the open the same ai file I previously made, everything works perfect & fine! as attached image (ignore the green markers)

Hello, I have had this issue for a couple days now and it has gotten to the point where I can't do anything in Illustrator without this bar popping up. I have tried quitting and restarting multiple times, trying older versions of the software, and updating it to the April 2025 version. Nothing has worked. It only pops up on one drawing I am working on which is mostly live paint and linework and the file isn't very large. Any suggestions are appreciated as I can no longer complete anything in illustator. 

¿Es posible guardar (por separado de los determinados por defecto) los atajos de teclado configurados por un usuario? He generado mis propios atajos, pero al buscar en la carpeta donde se almacenan, veo únicamente 1 archivo, por lo que asumo conjunta los del programa y los del usuario. Lo que busco es que al borrar el programa e instalarlo de nuevo, no tenga que configurar los atajos  nuevamente, sino, añadir o sustituir el archivo que los contenga. Gracias.

I spent 3 months between Epson and Adobe as to why Epson 700 prints looked muddy. Finally I suggested since I hadn't any problems with older Epson, couldn't I download an earlier version of Illustrator. I downloaded Epson 2024 28...and finally clarity in prints. I have updated the Illustrator 28 recently and now the prints are muddy. Where can I get an older version of Illustrator 28? I want crisp prints again!!! 

When exporting assets (e.g., illustrations, icons) using the Asset Export Tool, Illustrator automatically appends an incremental counter to the filenames (e.g., asset_1.png, asset_2.png, etc.). However, I need to reset this counter to start again from 1, but I cannot find any built-in option to do so.What I’ve Tried:Deleting and Re-adding Assets:I removed all assets from the Asset Export panel and re-added them, but the counter continued from where it left off instead of resetting. Checking the Gear Icon Settings:I explored the settings in the gear icon within the Asset Export panel, but it only provides options for export formats (e.g., PNG, JPG) and does not include a counter reset option. Renaming Assets Manually:I tried renaming the assets manually, but the counter still increments automatically during export. Questions:Is there a hidden setting or method to reset the Asset Export counter in Illustrator?If not, could this featu

I mistakenly clicked to open from "Cloud" and now the window is too large and I can't get to the lower left corner to click "from my computer"? The system "locks" when I do file open now. I am using a 3 screen setup if that matters,. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
