Is it at all possible to have a script pull Lab color information from any swatch or object in Illustrator? I'm specifically trying to write a script to compare Lab color information between two different colors. I've run across the renderSwatchLegend script, but I can't seem to get it to display in a UI instead of rendering to an object. I'm not much of a coder, mostly am trying to use chatGPT to make this. Any help/direction would be appreciated.

I've created a layout with two text columns linked together. When the text flows from the first column to the second, for some reason, Illustrator is treating the last line of the first column as the end of the paragraph and then indents the first line of the second column. Even though it is actually a continuation of the same sentence. How do I fix this?

I'm trying to use the attached stock graphic for a print project, but I'm having major issues when switching from RGB to CMYK. I've tried flattening transparency, messing with the blend modes, and adjusting color settings. For reference here is what it looks like in RGB vs. CMYK (also attached the Ai file). I've definitely seen things like this in print before, so there's got to be a work around, right? 

Hello Community There will be a script that copied all the content of "Various Artboards" from a document and pasted it to a new document automatically. I know that there are several options in Illustrator that copy the content but from a single artboard and the other option is to copy with the artboards and I only want the content to pass it to a new document.

I'm using Illustrator 2025, duplicating a few artboards, saving them, and trying to place them into Indesign; I can't use them. I don't see them, and when I open the Illustrator file to see why I can't see them, all the previous artboards are gone for some reason. I duplicated the artboards in Illustrator again, saved the file, and opened them again, but I still lost them. What is wrong with Illustrator 2025?

I just installed illustrator in v29.3, but found that regardless of whether I selected any type of object, the Properties panel in the new version doesn't show any controls, only the title of the corresponding control group.Even if the text object is selected or nothing is selected, it is still empty.I've tried resetting preferences, resetting workspaces, and even reinstalling the software, but nothing has worked.But there is no problem with the 2024 version of Illustrator.

Hi,Every version of Illustrator released so far this year has had the same issue for me. It was fine last year, but as soon as the 2025 version landed, there seems to be a chance it will crash whenever I open a file.It doesn't matter what file it is. We usually work in PDF but it will also happen when trying to open an .ai file. It doesn't matter how many documents I have open. I can have several open and open one more without a crash, or I can have just one open then it crashes when I go to open a second.It doesn't matter how many undos I have racked up in the files I have open.I'm sick of this. It's the most frustrating thing in the world. What is going on?FWIW, the crash manifests as a spinning ball of death. I can still use other apps so it's not an OS crash, and I need to just force quit Illustrator and open again. I'm on Sequoia 15.3.1, specs: Intel i7, AMD Radeo Pro 5500 XT 8GB. Anyone else having constant issues with scrolling through fonts in either of the font panels. I get 3 down and it gets stuck, on a system font, i've reset the entire system fonts - reset illustrator and i can't seem to scroll more than 3 fonts. Hi I have an issue that a logo looks different on Figma and Illustrator.I created the logo on Figma, colour is HEX. Then exported in SVG.Then I opened it on Illustrator, the gredient is not smooth. Maybe because of the colour thing? Haw can I fix it? Thanks in advance!

This is a bug that I have found cross platform. A few days I was on a Mac using Illustrator and rage quit because of the bug. Now on my PC the bug is back. I might boot up OBS and record it because I don't see anyone else with this problem.  Illustrator did crash when I was attempting to solve this issue. Basically, the regular Selection Tool is bugged so that I select text boxes that my mouse is nowhere near. It's as if my mouse is actually down and to the left. I used the ruler tool and I am apparently selecting text boxes that are at least 200 pixels away from my mouse. Like it has this weird large radius of selection, EXCEPT it only allows some text boxes to be selected but not others. Meaning certain text boxes are inconsistently selectable. It only selects text boxes that are being used for ASCII artwork and doesn't like selecting text boxes containing regular text. Why is there a preference when everything is spaced out, the same font, and font size? Illustrator crashed just a bit, and when it automatically reopened, the toolbar on the left side of the screen was different (tools in different orders, things like the shapes all being their own button instead of living under one, etc)! I think it may have reverted to an older version of the program?

For some reason Edit>Path> offset path does nothing.  I made a simple rectangle just to test on a clean shape , even try with the quick actions button, but no menu pops up. Am I doing something wrong?

Working with AI for 20+ years and these slight changes are what piss me off the most.Within the layers panel, objects with no fill or stroke are showing up in the layer thumbnail in outline mode.A quick glance to this thumbnail assures no stroke or fill are present in this cut layer, which is neccessary for output to printer. Now it shows object in outline mode which looks like a black stroked object.Is there anyway to view all layer thumbs in preview mode like the past versions? Is this a bug?

Hello, Possibly an amateur question, but I'm having trouble finding out why my symbol's bounding box is so much larger than my object. I'm not seeing any stray nodes or anything. I even deleted the drop shadows and any effects to see if that was causing it. Any suggestions are much appreciated!   

Hi there! Wondering if anyone has an answer to my frustrating question.I do commerical graphics for many clients, and I usually start off with a new canvas of 1200x1200 px in 300 DPI..however, when I export or save for web & devices, the resolution changes usually to 150 or sometimes even to 72 DPI wether I'm saving in JPEG or PNG. I need these graphics in 300 dpi..I'm guessing it has something to do with compression settings, but I'm just not sure. This is a very big problem for me. Any help is greatly appreciated.(I'm using CS4)TIA,~Jess

I am setting up an action and I want to be able to change the gridlines from px to inches so I've inserted a menu item and when I play the action, the guides and grid box comes up and "gridline every" is highlighted so I change it to "1 inch" but it does not save that option. Any ideas what I am doing wrong/not doing? thanks! 

I have a document with several items filled with complex blends. If I make a new shape and click the blend tool, one of the complex blends is applied. Then I have to spend time deleting all the points and coloiurs across the blend so I can make a new one. In the past clicking with the blend tool just applied a very simple black to white gradient which was then easy to edit. How can I get back to this? I want an easy way to start a new blend from the basic black to white grad. Ta.  

My Illustrator version:Latest 2025 CC. It doesnt matter, cause it has been happening since CC 2024. OR at least when i switched to my AMD laptop in like mid 2024.My laptop specs:WINDOWS 11 PRO 23H2Ryzen 7 8645HS with Radeon 780M16GB LPDDR5xThe whole view of the program, the tab of the artboards, the actuall workspace just stops outputing/updating image when enabling any form of CPU displaying. But the icons, and zoom values on the edges of the program do update. So it does freeze only the part, where the sceene is displayed. Can be Outline view (ctrl+Y) or direct CPU view (ctrl+E). Doesn't matter, the program just stops displaying the workspace. When I try to move in the scene, nothing is happening, but when I switch back to GPU display, the work area is updated. The program itself does not freeze, my inputs are registered, it just does not update any visual.The CPU rendering just does not work in illustrator. No settings help, no compatibility windows app settings help, no gpu driver

I am trying to do a simple crytallized background. I start with a gradient, and apply crystallize effect.The crystallize has  a maximum cell size of 300. My artboard is 2000x1500 px After applying crystallize, I tried to scale to get larger cell sizes. (right click->transform->scale) but after the resize of the object the crystallize effect gets applied again and results in the same, small, cell size.  I also tried with various transform options in the selection tool, but none of them resulted in preserving the relative sizes of the cells after transform.  If I rasterize the object, scale works fine as a raster but I want to keep this as a vector. I'm trying to achieve a look like this example: https://www.shutterstock.com/image-vector/abstract-background-design-low-poly-style-1989786896  How can I make the cell sizes larger as a vector?   

Hi all,I've been writing scripts and was refactoring some code to utilize functional methods like (map, reduce, filter).It appears that these are completely unsupported. Is this true? I couldn't find any confirmation either way, only that they appear not to work. I am trying to create a stroked line with a zig zag that tapers on one end, meaning larger size zig zags on the right side that gradually get smaller on the left. I know I could edit individual points to make them smaller, but this is tedious and would not be easily editable if I need to make changes. I have also played with transforming the outlined stroke, but it heavily distorts the zig zags and removes its editability.  Does anyone know of any tricks to make the zig zags gradually change in "amplitude" from left to right while preserving the editability of the line (so I can just move the two end points, rather than rotate the whole thing or change individual points)? The rough idea of what I want, shown in the picture below, was made with the curvature tool, but I'd prefer to use a tighter, more consistent, effect--like the one shown above it created with the zig zag effect. I have selected a single element inside a sublayer, <path> in the sublayer "grønn2":With the top layer "guides" selected, I move to the viewport, right-click > Arrange > Send to current layerWhen I do this, not only does the selected <path> object move to the guides layer, but the whole "grønn2" layer is moved to "guides":Does anyone know why this happens, and how I can move only the selected objects without physically dragging them onto the layer?

I created with illustrator 29.3.1 a dot gradient which is not visible in the pdf preview. I tried with a texture with 4 colours and instead of the gradient I only see the 4 colours and no gradient.This did not happen with the old versions. How can I solve it?
