Ctrl + C keyboard shortcut needs to be hit between 2-10 times usually before Illustrator recognizes that I did anything. But it's not just keyboard shortcuts. If I click Edit > Cut then click Edit again, the option to paste is greyed out 100% of the time. If I click Edit > Copy, nothing ever happens the first time. After the first time, it seems like a random roll of the die on whether or not Paste is then greyed out under the Edit menu. Usually 2-10 times to get Illustrator to understand that I want to copy something. Only Adobe apps are having this issue. No other software I regularly use is having any issue with the clipboard. I already reset my preferences, disabled "Include SVG Code" in the preferences, closed all other programs running, rebooted, restarted in safe mode. Hello, I have a color with RGB value (20,30,40). The CMYK value of this value is normally (50,25,0,84) but in the illustration, it is seen as CMYK (91,58,64,59) where I wrote this value. What is the reason for this? How can I solve it?

I use image trace to vectorize my hand-drawn sketches. I use the "sketched art" preset. I set corners to "0", expand it, and then use the smooth tool slider. But still I'm left with some sharp, jagged edges, which I do not like. I like curves and round corners. So I have to individually adjust these sharp corners, which can be kind of tedious. Any hints on how I get better results without the sharp corners that I have to correct? Thanks.

Example 1: I have a cmyk file. I create a rectangle and apply a gradient with 3 stops: rich black (60,40,40,100), rich black again, and red. But then when I spot check with shift+eyedropper anywhere in the black region, it shows 74.97, 67.92, 67.05, 90.15 Example 2: sometimes I when create a new shape and set the color to 60,40,40,100, . But when I check the color later, it's been changed to that same other black listed above. And the only way to get the rich black to stick that I can find is to copy an object with the same rich black from another document, paste it into the current doc and then set the color of the new object by eyedropping the pasted one. THEN it takes the rich black and keeps it. But if I manually set it to 60,40,40,, illustrator just changes it. This is causing so many issues with printing as I have to constantly check all rich black objects to make sure they haven't mysteriously reverted to regular black. I can't see the pencil path. I use the pencil a lot to edit existing paths. I've never had an issue before. The existing path would remain highlighted while I edit it, and I would be able to see the path that I was drawing with the pencil. Worked great. Now I can only see the highlighted path that I want to edit, but I can't see the path of the pencil as I draw. I can still edit paths this way, but it makes it more difficult because the highlighted guides all disappear when I start to use the pencil, and I can't see exactly where I'm drawing. It is set to "show edges". I have turned smart guides on and off. I have reset my preferences and even uninstalled and reinstalled illustrator to no avail. Thank you for any help. 

In Illustrator 2025 I created a cut line, dragged the swatch down and labeled it: Cut, Spot, CMYK, then saved. I then 'Saved As' the file as a PDF and sent it to the printer (big company printer). The printing software flagged it because 'there was no cut line labelled'. I opened the PDF version in 2024 and I could see that the 2025 version of AI automatically created the Clip Group (to package everything inside of the Artboard for PDF viewing), and it also deleted my labelled swatch.  I went back to the original AI file (with the cut line labelled in swatches) and opened it in my 2024 version and 'Save As' as a PDF. No issues with that PDF, Swatches intact, no 'Clip Group', etc. So AI 2025 must have added a new feature (which doesn't help printing with cut lines). I contacted Adobe and asked for a call back, no call back at all. Went through Chat, they couldn't even answer the first question. I called their phone number and the guy hung up with me because he didn't know

I made some corrections in Illustrator based on client feedback and now need to update the PDF. The issue is that the original PDF had clickable index page numbers and URLs, but those are lost after exporting the new version. The layout and placement remain the same.Is there a way to retain all the clickable elements from the old PDF in the updated one? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone got a fix for this other than using the legacy interface? All document presets gone A4 etc, replaced with stock templates, same on all tabs?

Our plugin is clearly described as requiring an active customer account to function — this is stated in the plugin description. Unfortunately, it seems the reviewer did not read the description before installing, and their feedback is not based on actual use of the product as intended.We are proud of our plugin and work hard to provide value to our customers. This rating unfairly affects our standing and misrepresents the plugin to other potential users.Does anyone know the correct process, contact, or department at Adobe to request removal of such a review? Im using the latest version on Adobe illustrator and for some reason i can't ungroup the words that i typed. I've tried redownloading and signing in and out but nothing work.  if anyone knows how to fix that it would be very helpfull

After the latest upgrade to Illustrator (v 27.2) I no longer have the option to export selected vector paths to DWG/DXF.  None of: SAVE AS, EXPORT, EXPORT AS, or EXPORT SELECTION offer a way to create CAD-friendly files.

I am trying to make a gear have that nice mettalic shine using the clipping mask, but everytime I make the command the whole thing just dissapears.  I am using the pen tool to make 4 triangles with different shades of grey. I then group the triangles, put a radial blur on them and place them under the gear that I created.  I select them all and do the clipping mask command, but instead of it being a gear with that radial shine, the whole thing disappears except for the outline of the triangle.  HELP!!!  I'M STUCK AND I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING (except the right thing)!!!

Hi everyone, I've been going a bit mad trying to find a fix for the pencil tool issue i'm having. When I draw a shape i'm unable to edit the path with the pencil tool. It draws right over the top of it and creates a new path. This has been happening since I've updated to the 2025 version on my mac (currenlty using version 29.2.1). I've uploaded a quick video of what I'm experiencing. I've been using illustrator for (what feels like) a million years but i'm a bit stumped on something that should be so simple.  Any advice would be ace.ThanksNess

When I click on my Overlord plugin, the panel does not show up. Neither does the Libraries panel. Sometimes it shows the checkmark after I click it, sometimes it doesn't. But either way, no panel appears. I've tried restarting my computer and relaunching Illustrator and I've heard this is a common bug. Has anyone figured out how to fix it?

Hello everyone, I updated Illustrator to version 29.5 yesterday, and since then, I've been experiencing a problem with vectorization. I can no longer obtain black and white vectorization as sharp as before. As you can see in the example above, the outlines of my images were previously very precise and well-defined. But since this update, the result has become irregular, with blurry and imprecise lines. I've tried several methods to resolve this problem, without success. As a clothing designer, this is preventing me from working properly, and I'm really stuck. If anyone has a solution, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your help!

I have a problem with Adobe Illustrator. Whenever I open the application, this black box appears, and I can't do anything. I even have to force-close the application via the task manager. Can someone tell me what I should do? And it always makes my memory run very high.it's never happened before.I use Adobe Illustrator 2022

1) How do i enter page number on document tiles that GET printed. 2)How do i give a border to a page (a black border)I am trying to create a book, and there is no info on how to insert page numbers that PRINT nor how to create SAME border for all the pages. HELPI do not know scripting

Hello. I have problem with Illustrator cs6. I tried to use Live Paint Bucket in one layer, and now all colored artworks in all layers in the file are black and white. All colors are gone. I can't undo it or step backward, file is blocked in this form, and I can't change anything. I can't make any changes in any artwork in the file.

  hello. I have had this problem for a month now, have been super irritating. I have read the forum about it and most people are just irritated about it and move on, for me illustrator doesnt save any changes if i continue to the editability, and if i keep changes, cant edit enything or see things from outside the board. I am not modyfying the files anyhow, last time i opened the file was also illustrator. HELP, i keep losing my changes while working on pdfs.

Finalmente elegí una de Adobe Fonts, continué con el diseño y lo guardé en la nube. Para recuperar este documento, haz clic en más información.”Seguí los pasos indicados por Adobe (reiniciar preferencias, etc.), pero al hacerlo se perdieron las preferencias anteriores y ahora no puedo identificar ni encontrar la fuente que había utilizado en el logo.Afortunadamente, llegué a exportar el logo en JPG, pero Illustrator ya no me muestra la fuente original porque fue quitada con el reinicio de preferencias, y tampoco logro identificarla dentro de Adobe Fonts.Mi consulta es:¿Qué puedo hacer para identificar una fuente a partir de una imagen JPG del logo? ¿Hay alguna herramienta co

Up until today, I have been working in illustrator fine. I could snap one object to another, when drawing lines, line segment ends anchor points could snap easily, align things to other anchor points as i'm drawing them, etc.. Now that is not the case.Also, before I could click right in the middle of an object and it would select it, now I must click on the actual path that surrounds and object.I'm working in Windows with CS4. I have went to the "view" menu and made sure "snap to point" is turned on, it is. I even tried snap to grid. None of this works.Please, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm on a Mac Mini M1 with 16GB and Big Sur 11.2.3, and am up to date on my Creative Cloud updates. About 25-30% of the time, when the computer goes to sleep, Illustrator will drop down about 1/5 of the way down the screen, as if I clicked the title bar and dragged it down the screen. When this happens, some of my panels will move around as well and I have to reset my workspace. Also, the grey space around the artboard shimmers when I move my cursor and the little popup window urging me to click and learn more about new features will have the font size reduced about 60%. All this happens with both Illustrator and Photoshop (the only Adobe apps I use regularly.) I usually end up quitting and restarting the program, and resetting my workspace. Oddly, all this doesn't happen EVERY time the computer sleeps, but it does happen fairly often, and is very annoying. 

I have a valid CharacterStyle, but I can't find the property in a TextFrameItem to apply it to. I've tried applying it to the TextFrameItem, its contents, and its characters properties, and the script quits in all cases. I can't find any example online, either.
