Questions

My designer gave me this PDF for print, but the line isn't faded in the back. The source file and the PDF look fine on her end though. When I or my other co-workers open the file on their end it shows the line. For reference, the designer is in the UK and we're in the US, not sure if there is a version difference between the Macs or Illustrator causing this. She can't seem to fix it on her end. Any help would be much appreciated!

I have looked at the other posts about this kind of topic but nothing was exactly what I am looking for! I have this path I drew. I want to wrap it around a cricle so it looks similar to this, but around a circle (and no special corners of course) I tried making the path into an art brush, and applying it to a 36"D circle but that gave me this  I want the this pattern to join itself perfectly in a circle, not look like a spiral. And i would like to keep the propotions more or less the same as the brush (would be okay with it being stretched a bit to fit around the circle, but I would rather the pattern to repeat, to cut down on how stetched it gets, if that makes sense) Does anyone know how to do this? Thank you!Holiday

Why when running a script from the ExtexdScriptToolkit environment, the last line of output in the console looks like: “Result: undefined”?

Hello, I'm struggling to figure out why the "character" panel/tab/window (what's it officially called?) is missing once I add text inside a group. Shown are both cases, where it appears once I'm outside a group, but dissappears once inside one. Any ideas? 🙂 

Hi  All, I am attempting to print a document from illustrator with document (artboard) size of 4.25in x8in on paper that is 8.5 by 11. I've set up the printer settings in illustrator to print on letter (8.5 x 11) however the paper width in my print summary is listed at 9 by 11 for some reason and all of my test prints so far have turned out one inch larger (5.25in x 9in). Does anyone know how to correct this or where I might ahve gone wrong? Thanks for the help!  

After the past two updates (before 3/6/2024), I can no longer load swatch files. When I do, a dialog box appears warning me that illustrator could not completely open the file, and the file opens in a new window with a tiling message that reads:"This is an Adobe Illustrator File that was saved without PDF content. To Place or open this file in other applications, it should be re-saved from Adobe Illustrator with the "Create PDF Compatible File" option turned on. This option is in the Illustrator Native Format Options dialog box, which appears when saving an Adobe Illustrator file using the Save As command." This dialog box does not appear when saving a palette, which only the beginning of the issue. I can save th e document from which I am hoping to generate the palette with that option checked, attempt to load that document as a swatch library, and I get exactly the same issue. What is the intended workflow here? Is there a useful workaround?

Dear All, I have a question regarding color palettes. When i want to add CMYK colours to the library, green is completely different than it should be.   

Ever since AI 25 upgrade every time I‘m using the dialog boxes like Color-Confirmation on opening a document, or Saving-Options, the dialog boxes don’t appear in the same spot but a little further to the left. This is kinda annoying. Tried to visualise this in a sequence of Open Dialog Boxes in a couple of screen shots. Trashing the prefs probably the best way to start, right?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to create a 3D $ shape but whenever I add a certain big depth, the preview becomes broken. It looks like it is coming from the rotation cursor that is placed in the middle of the vector shape. Any idea how to fix this? 

Shut down yesterday & had a Windows update. Now I get the error below. Have uninstalled & reinstalled multiple times (restarting each time) and same error. Even tried to go back a version & same thing. 

When i export an ai file to jpg and then use it in our web application it looks weird small and blurry.it was working before, i updated illustrator this morning i wish i didnt.

I have been having a lot of issues since friday when I copy and paste vector files within illustrator.Sometimes vector items will paste as raster objectsGlobal swatches are not being kept when pasting into a new document. We have a library of several thousand EPS and AI files.  We are trying to create a script that will extract the Pantone colors from the meta data in the file.  Just looking through some examples it seems really inconsistent on where the Pantone values are stored and we're having trouble identifying what is actually used in the image vs an unused color in the Swatches.   E.g., there is no red in the image for this file and it doesn't have a %%DocumentCustomColors tag:%%CMYKCustomColor: 0.058822598308325 1 0 0 (PANTONE Rhodamine Red CVC) %%CMYKProcessColor: 0.899999976158142 0.479999989271164 0 0 (PANTONE 285 CP) But another file has them all in one place:%%DocumentCustomColors: (PANTONE 123 CVC)%%+ (PANTONE 1795 CVC)%%+ (PANTONE 339 CVC)%%+ (PANTONE 653 CVC)For example, some AI files have %%DocumentCustomColors which shows a list of the Pantone color values.  However, other files don't contain that at all and have variably things like "%%CMYKProcessCol

I don't know if this is somethig that's possible. But at my work I have a lot of survey photos I have to place in with my artwork. Usually the file names of the photos have information that I have to re-type. So say there's a photo of an empty patch of land, the file name will be named something like 'sign placed here left of hydrant'. I have to go and re-type that. I'm wondering if it's possible to create a script that can just generate that text? Thanks for any help.

I'm on a very tight deadline and struggling with the new Recolor Artwork window. It was working yesterday.I am trying to change the white objects in this pattern to light blue. I go through all the steps but it just doesn't happen. The attached screen shot shows the light blue in the round color wheel and no white but the white is still white. I have Saved All Colors and closed the window and they are still white. Any ideas?

Je viens de changer d'ordinateur.Avant j'avais une Surface pro 9,  la nouvelle est une Pro 11.Sur la précédente, j'avais Illustrator version PC et à présent sur la nouvelle quand je veux installer Illustrator, Creative Cloud ne me propose que d'installer la version tablette Apple.Donc je ne peux pas installer Illustrator alors que j'ai une licence ! Quelqu'un pourrait m'aider ?Merci.

Hello, I wanted to save as an illustrator file by replacing the old version. Except that the recording crashed and I don't have any file left. I searched my recycle garbage can and my whole computer: no file. What do I do now?

I have an AMD build with dedicated Nvidia graphics card and latest everything (including windows OS). After the last update, everytime I write a prompt and submit the process will start running then my computer just resets. No error message or blue screen. The generative feature was working fine in the last release. But now I cannot use any of the ai in illustrator now.

Hi there, I've been using the dimension tool to do some interior design mockups. So far it's pretty nice except that about 30% of the time the measurement lines will disconnect themselves from the shape with no rhyme or reason. I understand that measurements will disconnect when you add rounded corners (although it really should just fix itself to the nearest anchor point but whatever).    My main way of getting the measurements attached to a shape is to click and drag from the shape line itself (not messing around with clicking on individual anchor points). I feel like I'm missing something here that is super obvious. Some shapes have no trouble keeping their measurements, and others just shed them repeatedly. I just updated to latest Illustrator 29.2.1 today.  Any help is appreciated.
