Questions

I'm familiar with placing multiple pages from a pdf into an Illustrator document, using the Place dialog/Import Options window, however when I tried to do it today I only got the option to select a single page at a time. From memory, I was expecting a checkbox below that, to select a range of or all pages (as described at https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/importing-pdf-files.html). Is this something that has changed/moved in the latest update, or are there limitations that mean the option may not be available for all PDF files?

I am running Illustrator version 27,5  on Imac late 2013. I am trying to migrate to Illustrator 27.61 on Mac Studio. I need to transfer my settings - keyboard shortcuts, actions, workspace. Can you point me to a tutorial how to do it? I tried moving my .aia and .kys files into Library/Preferences/Adobe 27 Settings, but it doesn't work.Is there a way to sync through Creative cloud?  

I have been working on some files and saving them as .ai files. I have not been saving with "Create PDF Compatible File" checked because I had read somewhere on the forum that it was not necessary. Is this true?The main reason for my question, 2-3 times when opening the files up I get the error stating can partially read the file. When I click Open I have a 1 layer file with text stating that I did not save as a PDF Compatible File. I will then close and not save changes. When I again open the file, it will open just fine with all 66 layers of text and images. 1 file is 36.5 MB and the other is 37.9 MB. I have worked with files like this before and know that it will take a little longer to open files with the small amount of RAM. Any help would be greatly appreciated. iMac 21.5 Late 2013, 8MB RAM, OS Catalina 10.15.7, Illustrator 2021 ver. 25.4.8, files are saved on computer

I was wondering if it is possible to create a script that renames the artboards based on an excel, or text file. Instead of having to double-click and type out each name.  I hope this makes sense. 

SVG Issues (Jan 17 2025)Adobe Illustrator v28.7.1 created valid SVGs. v29.2.1 creates invalid SVGs. It looks like the xmlns:xlink section of the <SVG version> element is duplicated for v29.2.1, but okay for v28.7.1. En el panel de preferencias tengo marcada la opción "Escalar trazos y efectos" para que Illustrator lo tenga predeterminado, pero más de una vez encuentro que esa opción no está marcada y tengo que volver a hacerlo (desde el doble click en la herramienta Escalar). Es bastante inconveniente porque suelo notar que la opción no está marcada cuando ya realicé varias tareas de escalado, lo que me obliga a cambiar en forma manual trazos y efectos que no se ajustaron automáticamente.¿Es un bug del programa o hay alguna manera de que no siga sucediendo?

I'm still on CS3 and figured out how to get printing separations back, but still printing PDF is missing.I tried "Repair Acrobat Installation".I'm on Yosemite.Please provide a work around,thanks!

Hi, for some time now in the new versions of Illustrator when I move the anchor points with the white arrow they move jerkily and it is very annoying when I want to position them in precise points for precision work.Does anyone know if this is just my problem and if there is a way to fix this problem?

Bonjour,J'ai énormément de calques à enregistrer en PDF et il faudrait à chaque fois garder le tout premier calque qui est une sorte de Background.Je voulais savoir s'il existait un script ou Action qui enregistrerait sous PDF le calque S01 puis le S02 puis le S03 etc tout en gardant visible le calque commun (sur la photo c'est le "TEMPL. tout en bas)?J'ai 76 calques à passer en PDF.Merci à vous !

Hello Everyone! I am new to AI and I was trying to create a design with the inflated metallic effect but when I select my object and inflate it, I don't see the metallic slider at all, in fact there's no other option apart from selecting the material type in the materials section. So if someone could help me out with it please I'd really appreciate it! 

Hi!Do you know how to achieve this effect in a vector drawing? It reminds me of 'Image Trace' results, but I need to create the illustration from scratch and match that exact line style. Any ideas?   

According to the current rules, is there a way to combine PNG files with EPS vector files? If not, can I upload the same design as PNG and vector separately?

I sometimes upload the outline design expanded. Sometimes I leave the editable stroke. Is there any problem with uploading it with the editable stroke?

Hello everyone,I recently exported an SVG file from Adobe Illustrator, but when I upload it to my WordPress  website, the rendering appears broken or distorted. The colors, gradients, or certain elements don’t display correctly.Issues I’m Facing:Some SVG elements are missing or not rendering properly.Colors and gradients look different from the original design.The file appears fine in Illustrator but breaks when uploaded to WordPress.Some WordPress themes/plugins seem to affect how the SVG is displayed.Steps I’ve Tried So Far:Exported the SVG with different settingsCleaned up the SVG code using an SVG optimizer tool.Checked my WordPress theme and SVG-supporting plugins.Tried different SVG upload plugins, but the issue persists. I would really appreciate any insights or solutions from those who have faced a similar issue!Thanks in advance. 😊

Hi there! Just wanted to bring up that I'm experiencing an export issue.  Long story short, on an artboard with the images linked as a .psd (dropshadow on the psd file), the exported image of the products exports at 72dpi with a smooth edge.  On a different artboard (export settings exactly the same), however the same image has a dropshadow added WITHIN illustrator and is exporting with a jagged edge. Why is this so? Please help!

I don't know how it happened, but a font family that I regularly use appears in my Illustrator 2025 app in two separate groups, one with Extra Light, Extra Light Italic, Light Italic, Italic, Bold, and Black, and the other group with Thin, Thin Italic, Light, Book, Regular, Book Italic, Regular Italic, Medium, Medium Italic, Bold Italic, and Black Italic.The list shows up as:Benton Sans (6)Benton Sans Compressed (16)Benton Sans Condensed (16)Benton Sans Extra Compressed (16)BentonSans (11)So, the first "Benton Sans" listing is with a space, and the second occurrence is without a space.I'm trying to figure out how to combine these separate lists into one list. I thought I would try uninstalling the font and reinstalling it, but I can't find instructions on how to do this. I also can't find a way to change the name of the font so that the space matches.As I said, this is in Adobe Illustrator 2025. I'm on a MacBook Pro. Thanks for any help you can give!

We have a customer that requires a editable pdf for some header information.  Our current way of creating this pdf, was to open the pdf with the form fields in illustrator add the artwork, save the pdf out of illustrator and then reopen the pdf in acrobat to fill out the form.  We could do this with illustrator 2022.  Now with 2023 and higher this is no longer possible. The forms are removed and cannont be filled out.  Is there a way to make this work again, or a different method I can try?

Hallo,Ich habe folgendes Problem. Ich möchte einer Schriftart eine Kontur hinzufügen. Das klappt auch (Fenster > Kontur) . Allerdings habe ich jetzt folgendes Problem: Ich hätte die Kontur gerne außen an der Schrift. Allerdings kann ich in dem Fenster für die Kontur-Optionen unter ,,Kont. ausr." nichts anklicken und er ist automatisch auf dem ersten (Kontur in der Mitte) gestellt. Obwohl er sogar alle 3 Optionen anbietet (Kontur mittig, Kontur außen, Kontur innen).  Kann mir jemand dabei helfen wie ich die Kontur auf ,,außen" stellen kann.Vielen Dank im Vorraus -Noah  

I have recently got a new Macbook Pro M4 and loaded the latest Adobe suite 2025, previously using 2023, didn't get round to updating. I have a number of strange things happening, which seems to be when opening my older created Illustrator files. One shows a completely white page, no content, until I zoom in or out then the document appears. And another where a thick pink line appears at the bottom and right of the window, screenshot attached. Is this a bug? I'm thinking of backdating to 2024 version to see if that helps.
