Questions

I'm a designer in Japan with native English and I work on multilingual translations sometimes with other translators. I'm responsible for compiling all the files. Right now I'm having a terrible time with the Thai file, as the diacritics aren't aligning properly and I don't know why. I have the text box language set to Thai and "Show East-Indian Preferences" is ticked in Preferences > Type.  I'm not sure what else to do from here. I already had to send one document where I painstakingly edited spacing character by character. Surely there's  a better way! All Thai fonts produce the same results, but I'm using Browallia New. My Illustrator is up to date, I'm running Windows 11. Any help is appreciated.  "World ready" or whatever isn't something I've been able to find thus far. Thanks in advance!    

When I turn "Smart Guides" off, selecting objects becomes harder. I have to click on the precise path to be able to select them. And when I hover the cursor on top of the object, it doesn't get highlighted to indicate that it can be selected. I don't understand the relation of "Smart Guides" to this behaviour, so I believe is either a bug or a oversight.  This is a problem because, with "Smart Guides" on, you can click near a path os object to select it, but with them off, you have to click precisely on the object. And the hover highlight bevaves differently, wich is a bad user experience.

?? would like to posit an idea that would be Adobe software wide... is there one?

Hi all! I've discovered this great blob effect in Illustrator but I'm having trouble understanding how it actually works. Does anyone understand this?Here is how you get the effect: Create two (or more) shapesSelect them all and create compound pathApply offset path effect (Effects > Path > Offset Path> Use a positive number, change "Joins" to Round)Apply offset path effect again, all the same settings but with a negative number this time I uploaded a quick video here as well.  Thanks in advance!

Acabei de instalar o AI 2025  e o Illustrator fica piscando sempre que a tela volta do descanço. Vi que em 2022 algumas pessoas já tiveram esse problema mas não achei solução. a Algumas informações para análise: Meu computador é um Mac Mini - Apple M4 Pro - Sequoia 15.1Ele pisca somente quando movimento o mouse (uso usa tablet wacom)Pisca somente o plano de trabalho (ferramentas e cabeçalho não)Nos outros programas como PS, LR... não acontece isso. Quando fecho e abro o AI novamente ele para, mas tem que ficar fechando e abrindo toda vez que restaura a tela.Fiz um vídeo mas não consigo subir ele aqui no chat.

Hello,I updated my Illustrator to the 2025 version and I noticed that the line extension feature is not working.My smart guides are turned on.It is really frustrating because it is one of the most important features when working with paths in my opionion. I hope this issue will be fixes soon!

Getting this error when trying to `applyEffect` free distortvar effectString = '<LiveEffect name="Adobe FreeDistort"><Dict data="DistortTopLeftX 0 DistortTopLeftY 0 DistortTopRightX 50 DistortTopRightY -20 DistortBottomLeftX -10 DistortBottomLeftY 70 DistortBottomRightX 60 DistortBottomRightY 50"/></LiveEffect>'; item.applyEffect(effectString);The problem seems to be caused by the application of the live effect, as the code worked with a simple effect applied, and I'm applying it to a simple PathItem. While searching it seems like the error is a vague one, so any help would be appreciated

Já faz um tempo que estou tendo o seguinte problema, começo a trabalhar no arquivo do Illustrator e meu monitor começa a piscar quando realizo ações simples, até mesmo só de mexer o mouse. Isso acontece somente com o Illustrator, tenho jogos pesados instalados e o problema não ocorre. Eu tenho uma placa de vídeo 1050 GTX.

Hey there, is there anyway I can add small dots in the corner of my squares/rectangles without having to create another shape on the top, so it does automatically? Pleasee images for referece. Thanks! 

Illustrator Version 29.1Wondering if anyone is experiencing any issues where the font reverts back to previous font when making any text changes. I'm hoping this will fix itself in the next update. This issue has only occured since the last update in November '24. Any suggestion?

Updated to the latest version - no change in preferences. Why can't I simply save a file without the program crashing. Infuriating and causing significant disruptions to the workflow. I even tested opening a new file, added no elements and tried to save to the program crashing once again.  

Hi there,I am trying to create the word "WOW" (without the .gg) based on this effect using three colours (not necessarily these colours though):   What would be the best way to do this? I can easily duplicate the letter with a different colour, but can't get it to "join"/extrude if that makes sense? Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

I'm trying to create individualized business cards with an individual's name and membership number on each card. I have a template with 40 cards on it and want to import a csv file so that I auto-populate the name and membership number on each of the 40 cards. I have managed to import a csv file and used the variables window to assign text to an object. The only problem is that it only populates the first data set from the csv so all 40 cards have the same name/ID. How do I populate so that a new data set goes into each card on my template?Thanks for any help!

Hi! I'm a newbie at Illustrator scripting and I wish to create a set of data-driven labels. The labels are to be printed 16-up per sheet. I have gotten the XML file to work and Illustrator is able to pick up the data however it only allows me to change the first label in that .AI.What do I have to do in order to print 16 different datasets of labels per sheet?

I've created artwork in Illustrator Beta and I'm trying to put together a presentation in Indesign 2025 to send to my client for review.  I've imported my Illustrator artboard into my Indesign document but the fonts aren't showing on the embedded link. It appears to be all the fonts, not just one specific font that's not displaying. I've never encountered this problem before and I don't have any issues with the fonts within Indesign so my only guess is that there might be a bug with Illustrator Beta. The fonts don't even display on my finder preview (in the past when using the normal Illustrator 2025 it would show up). Anyone else having this same issue?  A quick work around would be to make a PDF of my Illustrator artwork but I don't want to have to do this every time I want to import an AI file into Indesign going forward. 

I had a relatively simply Illustrator artwork for a large scale poster. It contained a few vector objects, no type fonts, but a large bitmap texture background (over 500MB uncompressed RGB). I wanted to save it as a PDF for my print provider. The first attempt at saving it as PDF used the compression setting "JPEG, Medium" — the resulting PDF file was not compressed whatsoever — the file size was exactly the same as the saved AI format file (587.2MB). So then I tried the setting "JPEG 200 (Automatic), Medium" — this attempt failed after several minutes of churning, and generated an error message suggesting I create a File Package Report and send it to Illustrator support. System Info:Mac Studio 2023 M2 Max, 32GB RAM, Sonoma 14.7, 2TB SSD with 1.43GB availableIllustrator 29.1 The file is obviously too large to attach, but I have attached the report below.

I create maps. I add graphics into CC hosted folders which I link within documents. There was a glitch in my computer's hosting and CC considers all my links in a different location than when they were initially linked. I need a way to select multiple links, and re-link all I've selected once. Currently, I have to do all of them, one by one. Does such a script exist for CC based assets? Not local. Thanks.

The attached sample pdf does not pass "Character encoding" for the Accessibility Checker. Also the word is scrambled in "Content" and when copied and pasted.How to fix this issue? I have to use the same font - NirmalaUI or NirmalaUI Bold.I'm using the most updated Adobe Acrobat Pro on PC.

here are HUGE issues with adobe lately and it's crashing for a lot of people, not just the op....maybe you guys need to revisit some coding basics? i have no idea what's going on but on M2 chips, all my adobe is unstable - even creative cloud app and i've reinstalled the OS and Adobe fully... with the ridiculous price of the monthly it should absolutely be more stable than this. i have an m2 pro macbook air with 24gb of ram and illustrator freezes so i have to force quit more than three times a day. luckily for adobe astute grpahics plugins exist to make it a little more stable and offer actual auto saves - i have no idea why adobe can't figure out autosaving - have it on but it never worked until i got astute plugins for illustrator. affinity is looking real good with no subscriptions and one time purchase.

If I have a EPS file on my desktop (or anywhere), why doesn't it show a preview of that file like you can with AI, PSD, JPG...etc? Why is this still a thing?

Hi people!After a reinstall i am setting up Illustrator again. I do use a specific color profile for printing by newspaper requirement named WAN-IFRAnewspaper26v5.icc. I did installed in Mac Library ColorSync. It does appear right in Photoshop and InDesign Color Space. However when i try to setup the new color space in Illustrator it does not appears as an option in the list. How come? Why it does work for the two other main major Adobe apps and not in Illustrator?Here is the pic. It appears as "other" but never let me select WAN-IFRAnewspaper26v5.icc. as an option even tough i have installed properly. Any help or ideas?Thanks!

When using the "Embed Images" option on a Link in Adobe Illustrator, the option is visible and can be clicked, but nothing happens. The Mac is a MacBook Pro Apple M2 Max, running MacOS Sequoia 15.2 We have tried to rebuild the Mac and reinstall Illustrator. Illustrator version 28.7.1 This works on other devices. There is no error message or anything it simply just does nothing. 

Hi, I've got a Macbook pro m2 max running illustrator 2025. When i open a file it comes up with an unknown error, then I try to embed the links and they remain non embedded. Rebuilt the mac, new profile, tested also on 2024. Any help would be great, thankyou.

Is it vital to use a mouse when using illustrator on a Mac? I've having difficulty, even the simplist of tasks are beyond me, and not like the tutorials. Do I need to go back to using a mouse?  Thanks.
