Questions

I just want Illustrator to stay maximized the whole time, but any time I try and open a file, it resizes and shows portions of my desktop. It's so annoying. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? I am on Windows 10 using two monitors, if that helps.

Illustrator 2024 is not detecting my Quadro RTX 4000 GPU.  Illustrator 2023 had no issues using my GPU.  Machine is Win 10 64 bit.   Photoshop 2024 has no problem recognizing and using this same GPU.  Solutions already tried:-  Update all Nvidia drivers to most-current-  Modified Nvidia control panel 3D Settings to force OpenGL rendering to GPU for all applications.- Set graphics performance performance in Windows Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics Settings for both Illustrator and AISniffer Interface Binder to "High Performance" Machine was rebooted after every solution attempt.  I'm looking for anything else to try here.

As can be seen in the video link, I'm trying to reduce the size of the pattern while transforming it and certain paths start disappear, yet when I do it outside of the pattern it works perfectly. https://streamable.com/wgzlks Any thought on why could it occur?

Hello! Please help with this extremely frustrating problem:  The lines and text and everything else in my Illustrator project are made thinner when I save it as a PDF. It appears fine in the program but is then thinner when viewing the PDF outside of the program. This mainly affects portions of the project which I had exported as a PDF from another program and then placed into the project. For instance, if I export a PDF from Word and then place it into a new project in Illustrator, when I save the Illustrator file as a PDF, the lines are noticeably thinner than they in the original Word PDF.  I am really hoping this can be fixed by simply changing some setting. Please let me know! Thanks! 

The problem:If a team member opens an illustrator file from our Google Drive the linked files all need relinking due to absolute paths (user/NAME/Google Drive/...). Unlink InDesign Illustrator can't do this automatically. This is massively time-consuming. Specifics:To aid efficient workflow, we use linked files e.g. a single copy of a client logo or product image. These single files are then used across multiple files within various projects each with individual project folders (linked to PO numbers). This avoids repetition of files and also aids in that a change to an asset can be quickly rolled out across multiple files or even projects.Our whole company uses Google Drive. Whilst Adobe Cloud would solve this (presumably), it would complicate tracking and storing client work.Solutions:- Use InDesign instead. We currently do this but InDesign isn't the best program to design some of the work we produce (many reasons too numerous to mention). Hopefully you guys can supply anot

I recently had to create an invoice for a client in Illustrator with minimal copy applied. The illustrator file was 361K, yet the Acrobat PDF which I exported using standard PDF/X-4:2010 (Acrobat 7) came to 2.2MB. That seems disproportionately large for such a small, single page project. Any thoughts on why?

I got stuck in sudden whenever I use illustrator in certain moment...i am not sure if this is about the font management app I used, as I got both Extensis suitaceand Monotype Fonts app, it just show up in sudden and I gotta force quit for my illustrator, anyone has experience in this and knows way to solve? 

In the last few years, I'm finding bugs constantly.  Something has happened at Adobe at a time when these tools are costing me more than ever, reliability is getting worse and worse.  I'm finding new bugs as soon as I launch the new updates lately.  I'm not sure what I can do about this.  I can't make time to be an unpaid beta tester, constantly reporting bugs, doing videos to illustrate them, etc.

Heya, i came along this site (https://bitbucket.org/joojaa/jooillustratorscripts/src/master/) and would like to know, what must be changed to be able to use it in the 2025 version. Since the script gives a dialog, but doesn't draw something, nor gives an error. Any ideas? Cheers,Christian

I've no idea why I can't get this to work. I type something in my document. I click on something else, to draw or whatever. I click type tool again, and it's re-set to the default font/colour, rather than the last font used.I don't want to change default overall, I just want it to remember the last font I used and use that for the next time I click on type tool in that particular document. This seems like a very common thing that people would want to do--i.e. use the same font in a document overall. Am I missing something?

When we got the client file. They just have PDF format only. In Illustrator CC change easy to change PDF to Vector. Now. can't to work. just the box only. also, can't edit anything. Anyone can help to fix ? or it is some reason to lock up ? Thank you

ive been trying to do my work and illustrator just keeps crashing over and over especially when i ctrl+v or do anything besides type.

I recently thought that I lost hours of work (in Adobe Illustrator) when I accidentally used control-Y (CTRL-Y) to redo something after I used control-Z (CTRL-Z) to undo a change. When I used control-Y, a white background with only fine outlines of my work remained. After trying to use control-Z (to undo my mistaken use of control-Y), and finding that it did absolutely nothing to resolve the problem, I began to experiment with the remnants of the work. I selected the entire image (which was only fine lines), used control-C (to copy the selection), then opened a new document and pasted the contents using control-V. Like magic, all of my work was on the new document - details, colors, everything! I can only theorize that the original work was not really lost, only hidden in a way that I was unable to recover on the original document.Wondering if anyone else has a solution for the mistaken use of control-Y in an Adobe Illustrator document.

I am experiencing extreme lag in Illustrator on my Macbook Pro M1 Max with 32GB of RAM. When using the selection tool to simply click objects, there is an extreme amount of lag and delay. Please watch the attached video to see this lag in action. When selecting an object I often get the spinning wheel. After clicking an object to select it, and then moving the mouse, the object gets dragged to a new location. If I drag a selection over the object, or click and drag the objects, they function correctly without lag. Can anyone help me? I don't know what else to do. I've restarted, uninstalled, reinstalled, and disabled GPU Performance. No luck.

Hallo,Seit heute fehlen bei mir Farbfelder und Verläufe. Auch Muster und.d Stile sind weg. Selbst die, die werksseitig installiert sind. Auch mit Import sind sie im Illustrator nicht verfügbar.  Ich bekomme grundsätzlich auf alles einen Schwarzweiß-Verlauf geklatscht, kann nichts anderes mehr auswählen.  Geändert hab ich nichts, ein Update gab es auch nicht.

I was wondering if it is possible to copy an object from one artboard and paste it in an different artboard (which has the same size) in the same place. So the cmd+f function but then in a different artboard. Thanks

Since today I am facing the issue with double click to isolate: it doesn't work anymore. It just moves the element or group I am trying to isolate around when trying to double click. I am using Illustrator v29.1 on macOS 15.1.1 (latest versions). I thought that this issue might occur because of the newest Illustrator version. So I downgraded to 29.0.1. This didn't fix the issue. I also tried to reset prefecrences in Illustrator. Didn't fix the problem. I restarted my mac as well as Illustrator. Didn't fix the problem. I also tried to use another trackpad (my old one). Didn't fix the problem. I also tried to use a mouse (instead of trackpad). Didn't fix the problem. I also tried to increase and decrease double click speed (as mentioned on top). None of it fixed the problem. I checked browser tools as well as double clicks on my desktop (which work perfectly) to make sure, that I don't have a systemwide issue with dblclicks. Any other ideas?

Having a super annoying issue with Illustrator.I can't create a new document, open a document or save a document. I'm not getting any error message, just nothing happens when I click. I've tried to use the functions multiple ways File<Save As etc or just trying to create a new tab. I can get around it by Force Quitting Illustrator and then I'm able to use those functions for a while until it will eventually mess up again. Annoying though because I can't save anything I make. I'm using Version 29.0

I am a beginner in using Illustrator and have no graphic design skills.What I didI chose a typeface, the number 4 and traced it using the pen tool.I used the pen to create a second element.I used the Patfinder tool to intersect the two elements.Since I need to have a transparent space along the intersection path i.e. the two objects should have no contact points, I increased the thickness of the stroke to create the separation.Unfortunately, despite research I have not figured out how to change the fill color of the stroke from white to transparent in order to create the gap space effect along the perimeter.Can anyone point me to the steps or an online tutorial to achieve the goal Many thanksArturo 

I have a single layer that has multiple shapes on one layer and I'd like it be separated to separate layers. There aren't individual paths layers, so I can't use the "Release to Layers" command. I there a faster way to get the loose paths to separate layers than having to select each one and manually move it? There are only 15 shapes, but still would be nice to not have to do manually. They're like one object, they don't ungroup but they aren't connected.  Thanks!

Is there anyone tried to run illustrator on Macbook pro M1 Max, did they solve the lagging issue? 

Hello,  I’m extremely frustrated with AI. Every time I try to click to select a path, the system recognizes my drag gesture instead. This issue occurs consistently, and it takes two seconds for the system to respond to my click, regardless of the path I’m selecting. Please note that this is not a hardware problem, as I’m running the software on a new MacBook M4 Pro with 24GB of RAM. The problem happens on every type of path. Could someone please help me resolve this issue, as it’s significantly slowing down my work? Thank you.

Using the current version of Illustrator on Win11. I am a long-time, fairly competent but not expert user of Illustrator.   In a current project, I have having to extract many charts and graphs from the prior print PDF of a book. (The PDF and edition are ten years old; the original chart files etc. are long lost and too complex, in aggregate, to rebuild from scratch. The extraction method, to clean AI files, is working well.)   When I open a book page in PDF and delete all the unwanted content, two things happen.   First, I often find a "shadow" group of text from what seems to be the next page in the book, invisible except in Outline view. It's not selectable in any way I can find. (I have to find the right Clip Group in Layers and delete from there.) Mostly — why and what's going on with that?   Second, the page and chart are the usual jumble of separate bits and pieces, going back to the original drawing structure. Then the ID-to-PDF-to-AI conversion leaves more,
