Mac StudioChip - Apple M1 MaxMac OS Version 14.3.1 (23D60) Illustrator version 28.3 Help would be much appreciated.  

I've never had an issue working in Illustrator like this before, I have Illustrator 28.5, macOS Sonoma 14.4.1: Usually when I group items together, I'm able to scale them proportionally when I’m using Selection Tool (V) and clicking Shift to scale, or I would make the entire thing smaller proportionally by using Option+Shift to scale from both sides at once. Now, I’m in Illustrator and my items are grouped, but the font boxes are just pushing into each other in a weird way that makes no sense rather than scaling together.  I saw feedback on some other posts to reset their preferences, and I already did that and restarted. I also tried to turn off smart scaling, and nothing changed. I also have my bounding box on. Here's some screenshots of what's happening when I try to scale either of those ways I listed above while these are grouped  

I worked on my file, when editing versions suddenly my file filled all colorshapes with black, (even placed logos). Outline/Preview is not the case, i cant go back. is all my work lost? I cant find this issue on the Net. thankful for any inputhere how it was:And this is what it turned into:

I'm new to Illustrator and I've managed to learn quite a bit but I've been having trouble with an effect that I'm trying to do on the letter "S", which is like a blackhole sucking/pulling effect where the letter stretches and shrinks at the same time. What I have so far is pretty bad:All I've been using is curvature pen to get the rounded stretched lines to the left, and pen to connect a small area where I use gradient to gradually change colours from orange to black the further the letter gets stretched and I use scissors to cut some of the black outline out. I don't know if there's other tools I can learn to get a much better result or if it's just about practice since I can't find any references of anything similar so far.

Hi all! I'm working with a brand that already has assets in their brand guidelines with the style below. I'm not sure how to make more icons for them, because I'm not sure how the original artist made these files. Can someone walk me through how to create these types of images:(One tone, halftone pixelation?) I'm not entirely sure.

I watched the videos and when I try to generate my iamge it still looks horrible, no matter what I do, any  suggestions?

I have created a safety label in Illustrator that needs to be printed in house on a label machine. I need to determine the exact dimentions on the shape to determine a die cut label size to feed stock through the printer. The shape must remain triangular with no white border. How to I determine size of actual triangle shape not the bounding box?  Can I make a triangular artboard? Not sure what to do any help is appreciated. Thank you! 

For a few months now, my control panel has been cut off when I have it docked to the top or the bottom of the screen:In the image above it is docked to the top.  You can see slivers of it and I can left-click the drop down menu on the right that lets me choose what shows in the control panel.  It looks almost as if it is behind another window, but I can't figure out how to fix it.  In this image it is docked to the bottom - and we can still see only slivers of the control panel.  If I pull it out so it is not docked to either the top or bottom, I'm able to see the whole control panel:I've been making this work for a few months now and it's getting annoying having it floating above my artboard.  I've tried uninstalling AI and then reinstalling and it didn't fix the problem.  Any suggestions on what else I can try?  It doesn't seem like anyone else is having this problem.

Recently this started happening: I open Illustrator and open a file (either from recents or through the File > Open menu). It looks like it's opening the file. Heck, sometimes it even flashes the illustration for half a second, and then... nothing. See video.Same thing with the Beta version which leads me to believe is has to do with the videodrivers. So I tried both Gamer version as 'Stable' version. No difference. Sometimes rebooting helps, but my workflow is so 'complicated' that rebooting really gets me out of the flow. Anyone else has this problem. Or rather, has the solution? EDITI also get this error every now and then. Might this be related? updateI was able to open the file in the web version of Illustrator. Not ideal, but I needed to get my work done. I'm looking at Affinity Designer for a future solution.

Hello! And Thank you in advance ❤️ I am using multiple paths to combine and create a shape that I would like to fill. What is happening is there is a break in the object that is causing the fill to be along the perimeter of the form, not within it. I realize this is due to there being breaks in the path that I'm not seeing yet.  What I would like to know is, how to detect where the incongruencies are in the path without manually having to do so. And also, what is a "proper" set of steps to combine the paths to create a form and then fill it? Thank you!Leah

Hi there,  I have a PNG image from the internet (an iPhone case) which I need to turn transparent. So essentially the iPhone case is empty/transparent but the background is still there. This is for a third-party app on Shopify where customers can attach their own image to products such as an iPhone case, and the empty/transparent phone case will be filled by the customers image attached. Please let me know if I need to explain further.  Thanks in advance!

Dear Adobe-Community, we have noticed that the PDFs created in Illustrator 2022 differ from those created in Illustrator 2024. The difference seems to lie in the use of the ZLIB library. Our subsequent applications now have difficulties processing the PDF files. It usually fails when decompressing the PDF data: "inflate failed, ZLIB error -5: (null)". We suspect that Illustrator 2024 uses a newer PDF engine that uses a newer version of the ZLIB library. Is there any further information on this? Many thanks in advance.Best regardsMichael 

Hi everyone, I'm facing a frustrating issue with Adobe Illustrator and am hoping someone here might be able to help. Every time I reopen my Adobe Illustrator file, the opacity of many elements on the page drops unexpectedly. This doesn’t happen to every single element, but it affects a significant number, and it’s really disrupting my workflow. This is particularly concerning because it’s happening with a critical client project that has an impending deadline. Here are some details about my setup:Adobe Illustrator Version: 28.5, 2024 Operating System: Macbook Pro 2023, 14Inch Frequency of Issue: Every time the file is reopened Steps Taken to Resolve: Updated software, restarted computer, Has anyone else experienced this issue? when i use illustrator in 2nd monitor, the menu window length gets short to match the height of the first monitor. so to use bottom function of the menu window, i need to keep click the arrow. it's bit annoy and i can't check all the fuction at once. is there any advice about this problem? + if i move illustrator to first monitor it works fine. but I usually run a differ program on the main(first) monitor, so I usually run illust on the second monitor.  thank you for reading this 😄

Sometimes my animated/scrubby zoom stops working while I'm in the middle of a project. This happens in both Photoshop and Illustrator. I've toggled GPU settings to reactivate it, but the issue doesn't resolve itself until I restart the application. Is there any way I can fix or maintain animated zoom without constantly restarting?

I have an Illustrator PDF from a client that has a drop shadow. The drop shadow dialog and color dialog are shown below. The Illustrator PDF is placed in InDesign and when a PDF is generated from InDesign the color space of the image that is the drop shadow is CMYK, which is the same as when simply opening the Illustrator PDF in Acrobat. It seems like there should be a way to make that drop shadow a grayscale image but I've not been able to find it. Am I missing something? Thanks  

I have been experiencing really weird issues with Adobe Illustrator latwly, sudden crashed, freezing, "unknown error" messages when trying to link or update embedded files, lagging. A colleague that was also using illustrator also had random freezing. I checked when it was last updated and the newest update was three days ago (6 August 2024) exactly when me and my colleague started experiencing issues. I am not sure if it is linked to the new update or not, but it is really strange how the dates are coinciding. I was wondering if this was just me or is anyone else just been experiencing Illustartor issues all round?

I'm having issues with a large Illustrator file. When I first open the file I get the error in this post subject and then I'll get a second error that says "An error occurred while processing the appearance of an object." I will also get the error in the subject when I try to use specific tools or commands. For example, when I try to reflect an object I'll get this error. I'll always get the error and sometimes the command won't work the first time but will work if I try it a few more times. I'm using 28.4.1 but this has been an issue for awhile now. I'm also on a Mac running MacOS 14.5. I have tried creating a copy of the file and resetting my preferences. I have also tried creating a new document and copying the content into that new file and still get the same error. I do have a couple of objects that were copied from older documents. The objects are a grouping of gradients and PNGs that create the appearance of a spun metal texture. I'm wondering if that could be the issue.

I have a problem when I open the latest version of Illustrator (version 28.5). The error i get is: The plugin GenerateUI is not loading. I close error vindow and can work normally in Illustrator. Reinstallation doesn't help. 

Hi,I am a new designer and want to use the font Bodoni 72 smallcaps book for my products. I would liketo know if I need to purchase a separate license for this font. I have checked Adobe Fonts and found that they are clear for both personal and commercial use. However, I couldn't find Bodoni 72 Smallcaps in this list (https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/using/fonts-included-with-creative-suite.html), although it is a built-in font when I installed illustrator.  I also found that bodoni 72 is an open source font (https://indestructibletype.com/Bodoni.html, please correct me if I am wrong!), but I was wondering if the Smallcaps feature of the font requires a separate license. Thank you very much!
