I'm wondering if there's a way for users to align objects to a line with varying heights. For example, I have a line that steps down at various places. Is there a way to align objects with each horizontal segment of the line at different heights? Ideally I would like to center align those objects with the horizontal line segments if possible.

I have Illustrator template files I set up where PDFs are precisely placed and are swapped out week to week. I would just have to move where the original .PDF file was linked from and once Adobe Illustrator couldn't find it's original location, it would ask me if I would like to "Replace" "Ignore" or "Ignore All" with a checkbox to "Apply to All" (photo attached from another thread) For some reason they've removed the "Apply to All" function in the update 4 days ago and now each instance has to be manually relinked 1-by-1. What is the reasoning behind this? Is there a workaround already implemented that I'm unaware of?

I'm trying to place a picture in a rektangular form in Illustrator. I've made the form, made it a path, and then I mark it together with the picture and try to create clipping mask. But every time I get an error saying that the form isn't a path. But it is! "urklippsbana" in swedish is path. What can be wrong? I'm starting to get grey hairs.

Hi,I created a new library in my Libraries (illustrator 2023) consisting of a lot of color group (5 elements each).When I want to bring back a color group in my Swatches palette, I right click it to go to "add then to swatches".Here is the bug; only the name of the theme is added in my Swatches, an empty folder with the correct name that is all I am able to produce.Any ideas how to procede, someone ?jean.

When i use the brush tool in illustrator (and also on AfterEffects), there is a bit of a start delay, like it starts drawing only if i move the pen more.. this thing doesnt happen in Photoshop, but only for this too.. I tried to draw with mouse and it works fine. Help!

Hello, I notice small differences in the RGB values about an *.ai file, whether I open it in Illustrator or CorelDraw.Yes this is now a huge door opening the color management world :). But I try to keep it simple. Any (not only one) file that opens with different colors in Illustrator and CorelDraw, for example RGB 224-115-75 becomes 223-114-75. Actually not a huge problem, but I wonder why. Same is true for CMYK. The color profile in the *.ai is normal sRGB, the color in CorelDraw is the same.Also the CMYK profiles are the same. Is there any other option that could lead to such a minimal difference, or do I have to live with it?I ask especially as I work a lot with names colors and would like to see the color names in both programs. thank you.    

Whenever I try to click or select anything on a panel on my second monitor, all panels on that monitor disappear.Stage Manager is off (which may cause some unexpected behavior in some apps) and I know it's not my system because Illustrator 2023 (27.9) works just fine, and all other Adobe 2024 apps work as expected with tool panels on the second monitor. Running Illustrator 28.0 on a M2 Pro Mac Mini, MacOS Sonoma 14.1 

Hello, I am still new to illustrator and am having an issue, my artboard is small but when I exit out of changing the artboard size I get a huge white space attached are some screen shots. can anyone explain?? Thanks

Just updated my mac to Sonoma 14.1/ Illustrator version 28.0. After update it is no longer functioning.  Clicking any tool on the toolbar menu jumps the finder to the desktop. Clicking back on the artboard brings the toolbar back up but it is impossible to select a tool (key commands still work). This did not happen before the Sonoma update and it only happens in Illustrator.  Have done all the usual steps such as restarting, deleting all the adobe stuff from the library and reinstalling illustrator.   

Below is a a script that I found in hopes that it would be able to take all of the "used swatches" in the file and write a list of their swatch names in a text box. I work in the Sublimation apparel industry and it would be very useful for art approval documents. The script I found below does not work. I have random instances of area type within a same .ai document breaking words to characters in the time between a close/save and the next reopening of the document. Same font and size in area text box X will reopen correctly, while text box Y will retain the box, but with words broken to individual characters or pairs. See screenshot attached. No consistency for this problem as to display size or text, font or color.I've had this issue throughout Illustrator versions, currently using 2020 on a Mac Pro.

Hello, I downloaded adobe illustrator on my new laptop today, and I've been working on a project for a couple of hours now.... some of the things under the "file" tab are not working. I cannot file > save/save as/open/new. Everytime I try to do any of the listed, nothing happens at all and adobe stays the way it was before I clicked it. This is furstrating because I've been working on a project for a couple of hours and I do not want to lose it, but I cannot save it.  Can I get some help? Thank you!

I have a PDF that was exported from Canva. There's a gradient that goes from left to right, fully opaque to fully transparent. I wanted to check something in the PDF when I noticed this strange gradient that doesn't seem like anything I've seen before As you can see on the footage, it's not an actual gradient style, it's fully scalable so it's not a linked image, not a mesh, not a symbol etc. I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm looking at, or find anything about this pehnomenom. But I want to know what the hell this is lol. When I have this object selected and then create a new path, this object's gradient properties are copied to the new object in a repeating pattern, including its size and rotation. Also notice how the color picker displays a thin gradient line rather than what a normal gradient would appear here, or a solid color So what is this mystical gradient/object? Is this something I can create from scratch, or just an anomaly from Canva?

does the illustrator scripting API have functionalities present in certain menus like Duplicate Artboards with the objects included?  

 1) Gradient was applied & in appreance section,2) in apperance if "screen" is selected the the gradient chnages to white. Why is this happening? how do i resolve this?   

 

What is the simplest and most professional way to create a color theme of 10+ colors for a book with a different color for each section...?

I have been working on a project that require that I export pdfs from illustrator. Often times the pdf is meant for client to review progress and give feedback but I find that when I use export for screens (cmd+Opt+E) I'm able to simiply select specific artboards and save those out as a single pdf file but because I save through this method I never see the pdf 'save as dialogue box' and so the pdf is automatically saved with editing capabilities and I don't want that. I have combed through setting from 'General to Devices' and I can't find any setting that allows me to turn off editing capabilities for pdfs permanently until I want to turn it on. If there is a setting like tha,t I will be glad to know it. If not, then I really think that I'll need that setting on the next update cause I can't keep reopening a pdf just to save as so I can access the save as options only to turn off editing capabilities.
