Spellcheck defaulting to English American but need English UK

As subject, when using the Auto Spellcheck feature It's still showing spelling errors as it looks to be defaulting to English American when all my settings are set to English UK.

e.g. "Colours" is showing as incorrect spelling and refers to "Colors"..

Checked my spell check settings and paragraph settings, everything is set to English UK..

Anyone have a fix for this?

Thanks

No, it won't. You change it there only for the selected text.

It needs to be changed in the Default character style *of that document*. In an existing document I would then check all the existing text and assign what needs to be assigned. And maybe change the existing character styles as well.

You can change the Default character style in your templates and new document profiles. That will then carry over to all documents that your create new based on those profiles.

Yes, Illustrator's text formats are crazy.

When you select the text and then look in the Character panel - which language is applied to it?

ah.. English US! If I change that, will it remain as default?
