Questions

I have created an interactive PDF with buttons with the show/hide buttons function. It works in preview mode but when I export it I click on the buttons and the components I have hidden do not show up, I can click on the buttons but nothing happens. BonjourMa fenetre d'assemblage s'ouvre sur la pleine largeur de mon écran d'ordi fixe et quand je travaille sur mon portable (écran moins large), elle garde cette largeur sans que je puisse la redimensionner, sur l'un ou l'autre d'ailleurs, des deux ordis.Est ce un bug connu ou quelque chose m'échappe t'il ?Merci par avanceIsabelle

Hallo,ich hatte einen funktionierende Workflow bei der Datenzusammmenführung. Nun werden plötzlich Umlaute aus dem UTF16 Unicode-Text Dokument nicht mehr richtig ausgelesen und daher falsch dargestellt. Ausserdem legt mir das System im zusammengeführten Dokument zwischendurch leere Seiten an. Kann mir jemand einen Tipp geben woran diese Probleme liegen können.  Viele GrüßeBD

Hi,I have a long table in Indesign with content overflowing from page 1 to page 20. I have a header row on every page. I'd like to change the header row to a different header row at page 7. This way I can have a header row for pages1 to 7 and a different header row for pages 8 to 20. Is there a way to do to this in Indesign?Thank you   <Title renamed by MOD>

For my job, I make a bunch of graphics for social media in InDesign. I know InDesign is better for print, but it's the most natural for me to use -- so my first question is, am I shooting myself in the foot by using InDesign? Is Illustrator better? (I'm likely not going to switch to making mostly-text graphics in Photoshop...but maybe I need to process all through Photoshop before uploading to my website/instagram?) Because there's no export for web option in InDesign, my files come out at drastically different sizes. For example if I made a 1080x1080 px image and saved it...at 72 dpi (which keeps it at 1080 px -- and the image size is 503 kb)at 300 dpi (which makes it 4500 px -- and the image size is 6.5 mb) In this article about DPI, the author shares images of a kitten that have a variety of DPI but all appear the same on web. And yet the images were all 49 kb. How did they manage to constrain the images of different DPIs to the same image dimensions and file sizes?&n

Indesign CC closes automatically when i open an indesign file . This does not happen with all the indesign files but with only 1 file which i worked recently and i donot have another copy of it .Pleaase HELP !!!!      <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello! First of all, sorry if anything is unclear; English is not my first language.I have the following issue: I'm typesetting a poetry book in ID, where all text frames are vertically centered. I was able to configure this from the menu Object > Text Frame Options. However, when I export it to reflowable EPUB, it is not reflected in the layout. I know I could simply export it as fixed layout, but it's a requirement for it to be a reflowable EPUB. I can't use paragraph styles by adding space before or after because the verses are necessarily split with Enter, and I can't change that.Is there a way to maintain vertical justification in reflowable EPUB? Thank you very much.

This may not be an InDesign issue but I've never had the problem before. I'm working on a layout with a lot of graphic elements – intended to be an interactive PDF – and when exporting and then uploading to Drive for others to preview, many, but not all, of the graphic elements either go missing entirely or get very squished and distorted. I have tried exporting as a print PDF as well, and the same thing happens.   I know Drive will alter the PDF, but I have a booklet version with the same graphic elements that uploads totally fine. I'm curious if there's anything I'm messing up in the export settings that could affect this? At this point, trying to export as print, I'm exporting in a PDF/X-1a:2001 standard and just kept the color space RGB.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi,    I started using Adobe InDesign for the first time yesterday.    I work at a global company that publishes a lot of translated learning material and I'm having a total nightmare with InDesign (which, by the way, is one of the worst, most horrifically user-unfriendly apps I've ever had the misfortune of needing to use!). I am currently trying to get some Arabic text to read from right to left (in terms of paragraphs, word order, bullet/numbering placement etc.) to no avail, despite having read and sat through copious tutorials. I've tried using this tutorial, for example: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/arabic-hebrew.htmlOnly to find that there's no such thing as a character menu available on my version let alone the option of 'character direction'. Do I need to install and uninstall the app, or pay for some Hebrew-Arabic extension plugin (which isn't an option to request at my work)?   Could someone tell me please, as of October 2024

Hello,   Suddenly, my shift key forces a selection of all words from the first selection to my next desired selection instead of allowing the selection of two separate words. So I want to select two distanced words in a paragraph for example... I would press shift to select both. Now, all text in between is selected with the shift key. Helo, Indesign 19.5 crashes when package a book (.indb) for print. Does this happen only to my InDesign? Printing to PDF goes fine. Mac OSX 15.0.1 MacBook Pro i9 2019   <Title renamed by MOD>  

All of my InDesign Share for Review links have been stuck in a loop and won't open. We've been able to brute force open them by refreshing our browser a few times but even that doesn't work every time. Has anyone else been experiencing this and is there a fix?

Can someone help me with a script code? I already have the code ready and done. This code does the following: 1) It breaks the texts into lines,2)  breaks these lines into boxes, 3) applies a paragraph style to each of these boxes and 4) creates a small dash above each text box (separate).I created a dialog window (palette) so that I can choose which paragraph style to apply and whether or not I want this dash to be inserted. However, the action only runs once, because it is as if the window closed and the code did not continue. For some reason I get supplied text from clients with a lot of returns but with a space before it (per screenshot below). Is there a GREP expression that can be used to get rid of these in one go? 

Hello,The size of my InDesign window doesn't suit me. So I enlarge it, then work normally.But every time I switch to presentation mode and leave it (which is very often), the window resizes, so I have to resize it.Similarly, if I press the “+” at the top left, Indesign goes to fullscreen, but as soon as I switch to presentation mode, it resizes. How can I get Indesign to remember my window size changes (i.e. fullscreen)? I'm on macOs. Thanks     <Title renamed by MOD>

I am a begginer on working with InDesign and i am in school for it. I need to put a file into the app to work on it so i downloaded it but when i try to open the file it is all greyed out and i cant open it.
