Help needed to find what catalog my photos are in

Hello everyone,

I have a number of old catalogs in lightroom  where Im trying to find previous edited photos but each time I try to open the catalog it says there are no photos in the previous import and my catalogs are empty apart from my current one. so I try a previous version as for some reason Ive created multiple new catalogs with the same name just a different version each time. So its the same for every previous version of my catalogs, they are all empty. How do I locate the right catalog where my folders are?

Many thanks, G

Just in case you are unsure, Previous Import is not the best way to find out what images are in a Catalog. At best it only shows the most recently imported batch. At worst it may report as empty, and show none of the photos which ARE present.

There are two common ways that multiple catalogs may be seen: the first is that these are (dated) Catalog backups. The second way is that when each new LrC version is installed, your prior Catalog is converted to become openable with the new software - and this happens as a copy, by default receiving a suffix onto the prior filename when first saved.

Hey, @gavins33007671. I'll help you figure this out.

You can list all the catalogs on your computer using Windows search & type in .lrcat & then arrange the results by modified date to find the recent catalog you worked on.

Once Lightroom opens the catalog in the Library Module, go to All Photos & set the Sort order to Added Order to check the recently imported images.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
