How to View or Edit Smart Collection Criteria in the Newest Version of Lightroom?

Hi everyone,

I’m using the latest version of Lightroom, and I’m having trouble finding where I can view or edit the criteria for a Smart Collection I created.

In previous versions, I could just right-click on the Smart Collection and select “Edit Smart Collection…” to see the criteria, but that option doesn’t seem to be available anymore. I’ve also checked the “Library” menu and other possible locations, but I can’t find anything related to editing or viewing the Smart Collection criteria.

Has this feature been moved or removed in the newer version of Lightroom? If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help.

On my Windows Rig LrC 13.5 it works just fine, I can either just double click on it, or I can right Click and then select to Edit Smart Collection

Are you sure that it is a smart collection?

in this test, I double click first, cancel, then right click:

I also encountered this issue. I was almost ready to reinstall Lightroom Classic 14.4 until I realized I might be clicking on the wrong folder. And indeed, that was my mistake, because you can only edit a folder or sub-folder if it actually contains photos.

Smart Collections
Zoo           0  no
          Monkeys    20  yes
          Elephants      10  yes
          Reptiles       0  no
             Snakes          3  yes

             Lizards                    2         yes

No = Not Editable Yes = Editable

I hope this helps you solve the mystery!

Regards,

We're talking smart collections here, not folders. There is no reason why you should not be able to edit the criteria of a smart collection that has no images, unless that is a new bug I'm not aware of.

Are you using Lightroom (Lr icon) or Lightroom Classic (LrC icon)?

If LrC, nothing has changed regarding smart collections.
