Hi all,
hope you'are well during this times.
I've upgraded Photoshop CC 2020 to the latest 2021 version (v.22) as many of you have already done probably.
Unfortunately, after decades of iterations we have still lot of bugs, glitches and issues and I can't say I'm happy using the software, especially due to the fact I have to use it for production for a photography studio I work for (remotely actually).
Few info about my system (laptop), bought on 27 August 2020):
- PCSpecialist Vyper III 15.6"/Tongfang GM5MP7Y
- Windows 10 Home x64 2004 build 19041.572
- 32GB (16x2GB) Corsair Vengeance at stock settings
- IPS 100% sRGB 1080 display (laptop)
- nVidia RTX 2070 8GB Max-P with latest OEM nVidia driver 451.67. It's advisable to avoid using generic nVidia drivers as the OEM one could cointain customisation from the manufacturer
- SSD Samsung EVO Plus 970 512GB
- Wacom Intuos Small with pen, latest driver 6.3.41-1
Liquify Issue
When opening the liquify tool, an error popup window may appear and after many times pressing enter you could get back to the liquify window.
This happens randomly.
After some tests looks like the default PS option in Performance menu, Advanced window, "Use native operating system GPU acceleration", seems could cause issues, as disabling it seems to the problem.
The liquify tool bug has been occurred either to my collegue, so it's not specific to my machine apparently.
Of course we have features we can't use as they are broken unfortunately.
Canvas freeze when panning with a Wacom tablet and pen
I hoped this terrible and annoying issue would have been fixed in this version but it's still here.
I use a Wacom tablet, an Intuos, to work in PS.
When I want to pan the image using CTRL+space and the pen from tablet, it could happen that the canvas would freeze. Apparently PS is still working as if I do any operations, such as saving, merging layers the changes are applied. But canvas isn't refreshed.
I have to close the file and then reopen it to make it working again.
It happens randomly.
"Error reading machine specific preferences – They will be reset to defaults"
This happens randomly as well and since I've installed the latest 22.0 version of PS, apparently for no reason.
In 24 hours happened two times when I turned on the machine and ran PS.
This reverts to default the "Use native operating system GPU acceleration" option, which is turned on, causing the Liquify tool to act weird.
Of course I'm here spending time writing this post while I could have been doing something more productive for myself while it's not my fault.
Adobe Support, don't tell me to disable GPU acceleration as if I have to use the software in this way I wouldn't had bought a machine with such specs but just an ultrabook with an integrated GPU.
Sorry, but working in this way is very frustrating.
Thanks in advance for any help.
