photoshop effects not working while making the artworks

I tried on a older PS version (22.5.1) and the same shadow display issue arises. I beleive the method PS internally use, to sample and creates the shadow from the layer, is limited (I don't know if there is a better sample method).

It shows its limits on extreme settings like "spread" because it acts like a level/posterization on the blurred shadow shape, ehancing all sample problems.

The only solution so far is to keep an eye on those setting and play with them until it's acceptable. Or alternatively, you can construct your own shadow, old school style photoshop 3...

Hi, I can replicate this shadow issue with the same setting shown in the screenshot (especially the shadow size is messing the shadow shape). I had the same issue on a shape layer as well, so I beleive it's not due to a raster layer aliasing that is messing with extreme layer effect settings. I tried with lower values for the shadow size but the shadow keep showing weird shapes due to the 100% spread setting.

For info, I had already deactivated the native canvas.

My spec: win 10 - 5900x - rtx 3070 - 64Go Ram

Did you restart Photoshop after enabling "Deactivate Native Canvas"?

Hi

From your system info you have two GPUs : an NVidia GT720 dedicated GPU and Intel 4600 integrated GPU. Neither meet the requirements for Photoshop which requires GPU with Direct X 12 support. Yours supports only Direct 11 features.

You may be able to use Photoshop by going to Preferences _Technology Previews and checking Deactivate Native Canvas or Older GPU Mode (2016).

like here am try to give effects on a layer, I double clicked on that layer and then layer style window came, here through drop shadow in styles. but it is not coming out well as you can see instaead of its original shape as circle it is coming as some sqaure kind of things , other parameters like opacity , distance , size , spread also are not working. Hope you have clarity of the issue
