Trying to install photoshop...nothing is happening when I double click on the the folder to install.

Can you tell us what version of Photoshop you are ttrying to install?
Also, what operating system you are using?

If it is the current Creative Cloud version, then you don't install via a downloaded file, but rather via the Creative Cloud Desktop.  Mine is already installed, so is inviting me to Open the app, but you should see Install 

If you are still having trouble, answer the versions questions and we'll try and help.
