Keep background of image transparent when put into Photoshop?

Question

I'm trying to put a Google Image with a transparent background into Photoshop, but the background is automatically recolored black when I paste it in, like it is when I open the image in a new tab in Chrome. What I want to do is put the image in Photoshop but keep the background transparent. I want to directly manipulate the subject of the image and not have to deal with any colored background that's generated. Is there a way to do this?

Save the image to your hard drive then open the image from within photoshop.Can you give us a link to the image in question?

In Editor, go to the expert tab.Open picture B, the one you wish to select something from to add to another picture.Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the object. You will see an outline ("marching ants") once the selection is completeGo to Edit menu>copy to copy the selection to the clipboardOpen picture A, then go to Edit>pasteUse the move tool to position object from picture B.In the layers palette you should see picture A as the background layer, and object B on a separate layer.
