Hello All,I am putting custom skins on my .chm files by generating a WebHelp file and then using the WebHelp to CHM Converter in RoboHelp 10. The problem I'm running into is that when I open the .chm file, the Navigation Bar buttons are missing. I've seen some articles online that suggest that this is expected behavior and that the conversion back to .chm removes those Navigation Bar buttons. I've also read about Browse Sequences in regards to this issue, but don't know if I should delve into that topic if the conversion is going to remove the navigation bar buttons anyways. Does the WebHelp to CHM Converter in RoboHelp 10 remove those buttons? Also, is there a way within this process to add those buttons in at some point to ensure their inclusion in the final .chm file?Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.Pat
HII am using RH11 as part of TCS 5.I have embedded an MP4 video in one of the topics. When I test it on my mobile (Nexus 5 running latest version of Android) from our LMS, the video is not scaled. How do I solve this? Is there a way to fix it within RoboHelp? Should I scale it outside RH and then import it here? If yes, how do I manage it for different devices, for example a larger one for tablet and smaller one for mobile?Sreekanth
I have a multi-chapter project in FrameMaker 12 that I've linked in RH11. I use RH to auto-generate the TOC. The first page of each topic has the first two headings from each FM chapter, with the remaining headings starting each remaining topic. I've done this by creating and mapping two paragraph styles in FM. H0, H1, and H1A. I use FM to auto number them like this:100 H0 Chapter title101 H1A Topic 1102 H1 Topic 2103 H1 Topic 3In RH Project Settings / FM conversion settings, I set H1 to start a new topic, which creates a corresponding TOC entry. I've set H1A to not start a new topic because my client wants it on the same page as the first topic. However this of course doesn't create a TOC entry. This makes it look like the H1A entry is missing from the document. Is there a way to have RH include a FM paragraph in the TOC, but exclude it from creating a new topic?
This may get a bit lengthy but I want to lay it all on the table in the hope of getting to the root thus helping to arrive at an answer. For the past several months I've been developing a help system for a food processing plant. This is a brand new plant with state of the art technology. They wanted a system that would house all the SOPs for the facility and also all the manuals for all the equipment. I arrived on the scene late in the game so things were a bit disorganized to say the least. The SOP documents are all Word docs - some 2010 and some 2007 or earlier. Some are in an old style format and some developed in a new template that I created to try and standardized things. The manuals are all PDF documents.I've worked with RoboHelp before but not on a project like this. My previous project was built from the ground up with style sheets, fixed layouts etc. This project is not like that. Because of the wide diversity of the Word docs I pretty much abandoned trying to standardize the
HiI have mapped some text coming from Word document to Source. However, when I publish the WebHelp output, this text is taking up the default font of the browser, changing the Source font Arial to Times New Roman. Is there way to control that and force them to display in Arial font?Sreekanth
Good morning.I am using RoboHelp 9 and I have been facing problems when I try to copy master pages to new blank projects. Here's the thing: I have already created master pages including everything I consider as standard in my projects (that means, font style, font size, remarks and so on).The only way I've got to apply those master pages was importing them from an existing Project. However, when I copy those master page files in separate (.css and .htt) I am not able anymore to apply those styles in a new Project.I would like to ask your help, because I do not want to have to open an existing file every time I need to copy and apply master pages.Instead of it, I would like to save my standard master pages in a diferente folder, so that I could use them in any Project I want to.I will be looking forward your reply. Thanks in advance!Camila Silva
I have 2 different projects in RoboHelp 11 that have a "common" part, i.e. several chapters are identical, eventually with minor changes that could be solved with flags, and I was wondering if it would be possible to have the "common" in a sub-project that I could manage for both other projects.
Hi,I've read the posts regarding the problems with TOC, Index and Search not appearing in IE11. I installed a fix (for RH10) which made the TOC appear, but Search and Index were still unavailable in the generated Online Help. The problem is, I'm using RoboHelp HTML Version 7 (update coming soon...but not soon enough, unfortunately) and am experiencing the same problems. If I use 'Emulation' and change the settings to IE10, the tabs work as normal. However, this is obviously not ideal - does anyone know of a fix for RH7?Many thanks,Elaine
Can you apply a conditional build tag to a background image (Shading)?I have a banner at the top of my page using Borders and Shading, and I would like to exclude it when outputting to Microsoft HTML Help (normal output is FlashHelp).Appreciate any thoughts.Rich
I am using RoboHelp 10 and producing WebHelp output. The navigation pane does not show up when I open the help in Firefox. It does not open at all in Chrome.
HiI'm having trouble creating and viewing .chm files with the new updated version of RH11. I updated this morning to 11.0.4.291 and now I cannot create .chm files. When it does create the file I am presented with a dialog box claiming "Cannot open the file: mk:@MSITStore:C\<File Path>" when i try to open it and when i try and delete the file it tells me the RH is using it.Any ideas on this?
For the desktop screen layout, I want to stop the TOC from synchronizing automatically. We are having an issue when the product links to the Help, if the topic is far down in the TOC, the topic pane appears blank until you scroll back to the top. Anyone have a suggestion on whether it is possible to change the default behavior?
Hello all -Bit of a problem here. When viewed in IE10, the topics associated with the See Also buttons are not listed. Clicking that button does nothing. However, when I've had coworkers do the same thing in IE 9 or IE 11, the topics are listed, as expected.Any ideas? My concern is that our clients will be using IE10 and thus these buttons won't work. I don't recall changing anything to the output that would cause this. Thanks!Barry
Hi there. Can anyone help me with removing the web address bar from the responsive HTML 5 SSL.On the left is the default HTML 5 and on the right is the Robohelp layout. I need my help file to be a stand alone file as per the Adobe file with no web address bar. Many thanks
RoboHelp 11.0.4.291I have merged 36 projects and 11K plus topics (works like a champ Mr. Grainge, et al - Thank you!).Currently, the customers install the merged projects on their local server. We are going to move the whole kit and caboodle to "the cloud". 1. What are the best practices? - Just publish to the "cloud" server?2. Are all those wh-whatever Javascripts and .htm files in the children really necessary? They are duplicated in very project's folder, can the parent handle it?Thank you.
I have received a request to add over 50 index words to a topic. I don't find it resonable but it is a client request. RH11 WebHelp

The dropdown text links in my project only work when viewing the OLH via our application (pressing F1 in the app).If I open the CHM file or double-click the opening HTML file to access the OLH, none of the dropdown text links work. Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks.
I'm new to using the resource manager, so there's a good chance I've done something stupid here... but... I have 2 projects (I am the only tech writer, so running off one PC, no version control). I want to share snippets between the projects, so I'm using the resource manager to keep them synched up. Both are compiled as CHMs.When I search, I'm getting search results that appear to be the snippets in the results. When you double click them, they don't open. Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing.Has anyone else seen this before? I'm using RH10.
I just upgraded to TC Suite 5.Now I'm trying to link FrameMaker files to my RoboHelp project. The FrameMaker files are from a document that was done in Frame 9 (TC Suite 3.5) and now has been converted to Frame 11. It's working fine in Frame 11. No errors when opening any of the files in Frame 11.I created a new project in RH 11 and tried linking the FM files to it. Some work, but some bring on an Out of Memory message. Interestingly, one file that is 68MB worked fine, one file that's only 58MB brings that message.I'm going to try using an Externalize Graphics addon that worked well with the old Frame--I can only hope it works with FM 11 now.Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening, and any solutions besides externalizing the graphics and trying to reduce the file size? Thanks.
Trying to find out if RoboHelp imports Figure Captions along with the images. Right now we are not using RH but will be very soon. The images with accompanying captions are in Word documents that will be used to create on-line help.
I'm using RoboHelp 10 and am trying to get the button in my navigation skin to open a link in a new window. I researched this extensively and have not been able to get it to work. Can you please assist?
I currently have two very large user guides. They were created either RoboHelp 7 or earlier and have been upgraded to version 9 and now 11. Is there a maximum number of folders/topics a user guide should contain within RoboHelp? I need to add more and more information in the guide and am concerned the file is becoming too large. Any information you can provide is appreciated.Thank you.
I am generating a CHM using RoboHelp 10 on a Windows XP machine.I have a few pop-ups in some topics. These pop-ups contain screen shots. After generating the CHM, when I click the pop-ups to view the screen shots, they are not displayed correctly. That is, half of the image does not appear and there are no horizontal scroll bars either to scroll. This happens for pop-ups that appear on the left side of a topic. The images inside pop-ups that appear to the right side of a topic appear fine when clicked. The help file was originally created using RH 7. I upgraded the source files to RH 10 successfully and there were no errors during the upgradation.I even tried generating the CHM on other systems with RH10 and the same system configuration as mine but ended up with the same results. I assume there is some compatibility issue maybe between RH 7 and RH10.Looking forward to any helpful insights here as this is pretty urgent at the moment for me to resolve the aforementioned issue at the earl
I need to create a context-sensitive WebHelp system for a web application. I have the topics and the map file created, and the developer has coded the call to the help topic as indicated in http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/calling_webhelp/using_map_ids.htm. It works correctly if I double-click the help system's start page to open it, but when it is called from within IE, all pages in the application call the main help topic. The help call in the code appears to be correct, but there is obviously something missing, either on my end (help author) or on his end (developer).I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me.Thanks!P.S., I'm using RoboHelp 9.
