Hi SSCSteven,

You have Acrobat Reader that can read PDFs. But it cannot make up for errors in someone else's PDF creator's mistakes or errors.

As such, my guess is that you did not create the PDF.

My other guess is that the software to create this did not build or insert a font view into the PDF.

My last guess is that this was created with a font that you do not have in your system and those circles are indicating that SOMETHING is there but the PDF doesn't know what and since you do not have that font, that's what it's showing.

My only suggestion is to contact the person(s) who made that document and ask them what font was used and see if someone in your company has a computer with that font in it. (Than viewing this document on that computer should work.)

Alternatively see what common fonts you have in your computer, contact the person(s) who made that document, ask them to replace the font they used with the font you have. (They may have to reformat the document to accommodate this different font so they may not be all that keen on doing that.)

Lastly, suggest to the people who created this document to get Acrobat Pro (or a different 3rd party PDF creator) can properly insert the used font into the document.

Good luck, let us know what happens

Hello Sir,

Thank you for your response.

The PDF was created as an export of a Crystal Report.

The file and fonts appear fine when I access them on 1 PC.

When I attempt to access them on a 2nd PC - that has a fresh install of Adobe Reader - the issue is evident with the circles.

So how do I ensure that the 2nd PC has all the same fonts, and settings on the 1st PC where the PDF is viewable just fine?

Thank you,

Steven

HI Steven,

The fact that one computer shows the document just fine and the 2nd shows the circles indicates that my guess on the font issue was correct. This has nothing to do with Acrobat Reader, it is only showing the symptom of the problem.

My only speculation as to what to do is to compare all of the fonts in the good computer with the bad computer and move the missing fonts over to the bad computer.

There is nothing that Acrobat Reader can do about this. It has to do with a 3rd party PDF creation software that is not doing what it should/could be doing.

You are fortunate that you do have one computer that can show this document properly.

I'm sorry but that's all that can be done from here.

Good luck.
