Does anyone have any ideas why a few topics which were working, and still work locally, wouldn't work after the project is published? Tested locally the topic displays correctly. On the server the topic appears blank but no error message is displayed. Browsing using file explorer, the file is located in the correct place and double-clicking opens the topic correctly. Double-clicking on the index.htm and navigating through the TOC also opens the topic correctly. Only using the web address results in these topics displaying as blank. There are no error messages when viewing the developer tools. I've tried Chrome, Vivaldi (chromium based) and IE with the same results. I don't have access to Firefox to try. RH2019 Classic. Multiscreen HTML5 (desktop output only).
Hi - I am new to RoboHelp and am trying to decide between an individual, monthly subscription of the software versus purchasing a VIP-level subscription. I understand that the VIP-level subscription includes Enterprise level support; whereas, the Individual, monthly subscription only includes Standard support. I'm trying to get some honest feedback whether the difference in support levels partly justifies the difference in cost between the two subscription types. I am an advanced user of MS Word and have some experience on a far older and inferior online help authoring tool. The ultimate goal for purchasing RoboHelp is to create online help documentation for a web-based software product. I would appreciate experienced users opinions/thoughts. Thanks!
I am new to RH (and html in general) and am in a situation where I am teaching myself how to use it. I have picked up a ton of information using these forums, but I have a few things I cannot figure out.One thing I have been asked to do, is use links/hyperlinks to jump "down" the page to a specific location, i.e. a subtopic, image or definition. I have tried using bookmarks, but it just opens a new window, pop-up or re-opens the topic page in the same window. I just want to screen/window to jump down to a location I set on the existing page. The second is having a "hover-over" that shows a litte window/textbox with the definition of a specific term.I apologize for not knowing the specific terminology to use as I am learning this as I go as well.Thank you for understanding my newbie-ness in advance!
Hi AllIts been 5 years since I used Adobe Robohelp as a technical writer. I am using the 2020 trial version and learning the new layout and features and have the following questions so far:1. I cant find information on how to create a style from scratch can someone please send me the steps?2. When you you actually publish your project?3. Has anyone tried the publishing output to Zendesk and if yes do you like it?4. I was able to merge my older robohelp file and generate it in this version of Robohelp. When i generate my project samples to various outputs, the only one that works with my pop up glossary definitions is webhelp? The other outputs generate and my links work but not my pop up conditional help any idea why?5. Please remind me what Map Id's are and how they are related to conditional text pop up? what is difference between this function and drop down, text, expanding text ,glossary pop up etc? thanksCaryn Droviedrovenes@aol.com
I am using Robohelp Reimagined 2019 and attempting to use a version of the Orange output skin for my project. I am trying to reduce/remove errors and alerts in my browser for accessibility purposes and I do not know how to add alternate text to the images that are used in the skin. In the skin editor, I've tested different options to see if I could type the text into the "Content" field but that did not seem to appear when I was running my accessibility testing plug-in (Wave) on Chrome when viewing the output. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi,Until recently I havne't had an issue, but when using 2019 (classic edition), I have found that all of a sudden the conditional build expression is not sticking in the Printed Documentation output. I can create conditional build expressions, and they remain in the drop down list, but once I generate the output and go back into it the conditional build expression is no longer selected, and worse-- the output isn't retaining that information at all. So if I reopen the output, and generate, there are no conditional build expressions applied and the output shows everything. We have a lot of country specific tags that would turn the help into gibberish if this isn't working. I'm on Windows 10, Office 365, generating PDF and Word (not that that appears to matter).Responsive HTML help is not affected.I've created brand new projects, and the issue remains. This affects multiple projectsThis only appears to have become an issue in the last few weeks. My collegue
Working on a glossary (PDF publishing) and wondered, in order to better style it, if:(1) the glossary term font size, or adding an underline, or another style method, can be done, in order to better distinguish the term from its definition (make it stand out more)?(2) where to customize, if possible, in order to center the name of the Glossary: the default is aligned left margin, which in my publication does not match other page headings/titles which are aligned center.Suggestions welcome. Thank you in advance for your help.BTW: RH 2020 is impressive! Thank you RH team.
Hi, I am trying to create an accessible TOC that can be used by keyboard navigation. Can someone please help how to do it. I created HTML 5 help and most part it works, but when i colapse an expanded topic it stops working. Any help is appreicated. thanks Gagan
Last week I was able to print successfully. I restarted my computer, opened RH2020 and tried printed documentation output again. Still getting the same error message.
Hi everyone, After switching to RH 2020, and moving to another machine, fonts are not being reflected in the PDF output - despite the correct stylesheet being used. It does reflect the colours, and the settings clearly reflect those fonts in use. Does anyone have idea what this could be?
I am currently using RH 2019 release. I have created a paragraph style and applied numbering to them. This is how I set this style: During editing everything is OK as you can see. The style I am referring to is "1. Lista_de_Passos" (Steps in Brazilian Portuguese). The problem is when I export it to HTML5. All topics use the same MasterPage. It is applied here: After exporting my project, the dots do not appear in numbering. It happens to all topics. How do I solve it? I hope anybody here in this forum can help me! Thanks in advance!
I have RoboHelp 2017 and when generating a WebHelp, it freezes after "Full Text Search" portion of the output. How do I fix this in order to generate an output?
Hi guys and girls and everybody else I'm using drop down text boxes quite extensively, to Show / Hide lengthy field descriptions tables. They're a great way to remove screen clutter and hide info which some may not need and which may be glaringly obvious to other users. Trouble is, more often than not, when I view the published help files, they are already expanded, showing the abovementioned lengthy field descriptions tables. (TOP TIP: My workaround has been to annotate all of the drop down links "Show / Hide field descriptions table" so it looks like I've done it on purpose 🙂 ) I've tried various things to get them to close, including physically closing them and re-opening the help; checking they weren't "expanded" when I last saved the page or published. And a few freaky things involving chicken sacrifices and dancing naked in the garden at midnight. But all to no avail. Has anybody else experienced this issue and is there a fix? Am I doing something wrong
I am wondering if anyone out there has tried to allow their users to print to PDF while viewing a topic in a Responsive HTML5 help system. This is what I have in mind: While viewing a topic, the user clicks the Print button on the Help toolbar and selects Adobe PDF rather than a physical printer as the output destination.Ideally, I would like the PDF output to look like a nicely formatted standalone document (similar to how it would look if I created the PDF myself out of FrameMaker, Word, etc.).I have three concerns:Overall document layout with approved branding elements. (not necessarily the same layout as in the help; could a different master page be applied during the PDF creation process?)Functioning hyperlinks within the topic. (I understand that hyperlinks to different help topics would not make sense in a standalone PDF; I'm talking about links to bookmarks within the same topic.)Automatic accessibility tagging that is reasonably accurate. Note that I am not talking ab
Hi everyone, I recently(ish) saw a post here about formatting the PDF table of contents - which referred to a specific style sheet reference. However, this reference does not appear to be in my Stylesheet/formatting for my project. Was this added to new projects recently? If so, is there a way I can introduce this to my project? Thanks in advance.
RH 2017 (latest version)Merged HTMl5 Help SystemI was looking at the Developer Tools in FireFox today (Tools | Developer | Toggle Tools), specifically the Console tab, and I noticed that FireFox is starting to post warning messages about a settings.js that RH 2017 includes with the generated help. The error message is:Some cookies are misusing the recommended "sameSite attribute" as shown here: Notice the several "rh" cookies. The error message then says:Cookie rh....will be soon rejected because it has a sameSite attribute set to "none" or an invalid value, without the "secure" attribute. I think this is a new error due to recent or upcoming changes in FireFox. Here's additional info about this error message:https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/Set-Cookie/SameSite What happens when these cookies are rejected by modern browsers? What will be the impact of that on the user's experience while using the HTML5 Help? Will Adobe be pr
Hi all, I'm using RH 2019 (New). When I apply a masterpage to my PDF output, it only applies the header and footer elements to certain pages, seemingly at random. After starting a new TOC from scratch, it seems tied to the inclusion of more Chapters. If I add one or two, it's fine. On chapter three or four, the masterpage header and footer seems to be introduced periodically. But the stylesheet attached to the masterpage is applied regardless. I'm continuing to test, but would be interested to know if anyone else has had this issue. I have the masterpage applied to all pages etc via the PDF output config.
I am a new user of RH using RH2019. Considering the quantity of problems, my impression is that RH2019 is not even an alpha version of a software but an on-going devlopment project, certainly not a ready to use commercial product.1. I imported a small FM .book (6 topics). I modified the new CSS created and linked it to the Contents. In the document workspace, the stylesheet is applied and the text displays correctly. Everything seams OK in the HTM and the CSS files which I inspected. But when I published to HTML5 and WebHelp, the styles are not applied, and all the paragraphes display as if they were all <p>. No errors in the log file.2. Images do not appear neither.3. A generated ePub when open with Calibre shows up correctly but in the table of contents, only the first level (heading 1) displays the corresponding page, clicking on the second level of TOC entries produces an error message, the link to the page does not work. When the ePub is open with Adobe Digital Edition, nothi
Hello community, I just installed RH 2020 and had a look in the translation capabilities. The fact is that the translations are stored in a separate project. Up to now I also had a separate project for each language. Now I was wondering if there is a way to connect these existing projects for the new interface so that the existing translations are not lost. Is there a possibility for this or what is the preferred procedure? Thanks a lot.
Hi, I've searched this forum and Adobe help and so far haven't found any answers. I am a relatively new user to RH so don't know if something has not been set up right or there are other reasons.I am trying to turn an image in a topic into a thumbnail. I've watched the Adobe Reimagined video ( which seems straightforward) but I don't get the same result.I have dragged a png file from my images folder into a topic, then clicked the thumbnail box and entered the thumbnail size. When I have gone to preview I don't get the thumbnail and my image is just the same as it appears in the topic. If I generate - its still the same sized image - no thumbnail. The html code shows: <img data-thumbnail="150 90" src="../assets/images/Setup screen.png" /> Is there some html code missing that will make this work?ThanksAli
Hello, As per my project needs, I need to customize the layout of RHTML5 output. I am done with all the changes applicable through the skin editor except the following one. Can anyone pls help?
Hi, Whenever I am publishing the project in Word doc, images are not getting exported in word doc. I can see only textual content being exported. Need immediate help on this. Options I tried to fix the issue: 1. Enabled Macros in word doc and tried again (Didn't work) 2. Updated patch as suggested on Adobe site (Didn't work)
Hi - Have a help topic with the "thumbnails" image feature (clicking the thumbnail pops out the full-size image). As far as I remember (it was a long time ago), to do this you had to select Manage Thumbnails in output, and then tag the image with a "Zoom" style. This has worked fine when published to a local share drive (internal to company). Alas, security means that modern browsers won't launch the local file link (although you can copy the link and paste to browser, and it will open). After porting the help to SharePoint (2013, if it matters), the "pop up" image appears to be disabled. Not sure if the browser won't deal with the javascript or not (tried on Explorer, Edge, Chrome). It still works when launched from local source however (both in IE and Edge). Any thoughts on how to fix in SharePoint? TIAGEO
I have installed Robohelp 2020 and I cannot generate any pdf output. I can generate word output. I have tried a project that I upgraded from RH 2019 and a brand new project that I have created in RH 2020 and the result is the same. Also the user guide says you should be able to a look at the log to see the error but I dont get any warning symbol next to the pdf output preset to select, like the guide says.
I am using RoboHelp for linking between topics and such. I have been able to link Word just fine, but would like to know if there is a way to link Excel to a page? If linking an Excel sheet is not possible, is there a way to make a hidden book or page? I would like that if I have to copy an Excel Sheet into a page in RoboHelp, that the link can exist without the page being seen in the Table of Contents.
