I am currently creating an instructional manual using RoboHelp 2019 classic and publishing to a server using WebHelp. I have added a glossary so that the user can view the definition, descriptions etc. only when needed. I unstand that the "Glossary Hotspot Wizard" can automatically add expanding hotspots to any topic containing an identical phrase found in the glossary. My question is, why within 1 single topic, when the glossary term is found 4 times, why is the 'hotspot' recognozing the first and last times the term is used? I would think that within a topic the hotspot should identify the first time the glossary term is used, or all times it is used. I don't understand the logic. Here is an example:
I am creating an instructional manual using RoboHelp 2019 classic - publishing to a server using WebHelp. When accessing the published manual, clicking on the Search function, Typing in the word(s) to search for and clicking Go. No results are generated. The screen is blank. My output setup is exactly the same as the current manual which is published to the same server also using WebHelp but using RoboHelp 2015. Can anyone direct me to what I may be doing incorrectly. Here is a screen print of my search page.
What's the best way to import a PDF document directly into Robohelp 2019? I don't see PDF as an option under the import function. When I try to use the import > file feature, any pdfs or files I try to import show up as blank pages. Since our organization primarily utilizes PDF resurces, I want to find a way to import these documents while preserving current formatting and layout. Currently, in order to get the content of our PDF documents, I'm uploading scanning PDFs to my desktop, then importing into the Robohelp 2019 Classic view, then converting to HTML, then importing them into the new Robohelp 2019 interface. This is a time consuming process that produces images of poor quality and text that cannot be searched. Even when I try to import word docs, my formatting is often thrown off, making lots of work for each document. I appreciate your feedback/suggestions.
Can you cite the advantages/disadvantages of authoring end user documentation in Zendesk? I currently use RoboHelp as the tool to create online Help for our many web applications. A Support manager is pushing to drop RoboHelp and use Zendesk as the authoring tool for online documenation. He wants to simplify the number of tools we use to deliver content to users. My manager isn't so sure and has tasked me with the job of researching whether this is a good idea.
I'm using RoboHelo 2019, I'm having trouble getting a bulleted list to indent properly. I'm putting a bulleted list below a numbered step and I want the bulleted list to indent to at least the left margin of the text of the numbered step. I got the bullet line to indent too far to the right and now cannot get the bullet line to move far enough to the left. Thanks,MDawn
I have a PPTX file. Is it possible to embed it in a help section of responsive html5 help such that user can view it by using back/next arrows or << and >>. Dont want the user to download the ppts but view it in-place/in-context. Is it possible?
Hello Community, I work with RH Classic 2019 using TFS/source control. Unfortunately the buildtag and variable apj files do not get read in properly when opening the rh project and as a result I cannot create the online help for particular customers 😞 The files seem to be loaded correctly from tfs into the local folders but RH does not seem to grab them 😞 Has this ocurred to anyone else and is there maybe a workaround to load the files? Thank you very much!
Please forgive my inexperience with this tool. I am learning as I go, with no one around to teach me. I was updating a Help built by someone else. I just updated my files and attached a new style sheet to all my topics. When I generated my Help (WebHelp), I could not view anything. I went back into RoboHelp HTML (version x5), and now every topic has a small red x to the left of it. I cannot edit any topics now (the edit feature is grayed out). Please help! I have no idea what's wrong.
This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WSf55e06f836f4782e1172e0811d54ddd5ae-8000.html
When I am trying to Save and Generate the RH project, RH crashes. Apparently it is AppCrash. What is it? How do I fix it?
We recently upgraded to "Adobe RoboHelp Classic 2019 (14.0.9.004)." I've been using RoboHelp to generate JavaHelp since forever, but this one doesn't want to recognize the JDK folder. (Yes, I updated the version of Java in the Environment Variables and the registry, but still a no go.) Then I saw in a Google search: "JavaHelp can only be created from Classic version of RoboHelp. It is not supported in RoboHelp 2019." So does that mean it *is* supported in "Classic 2019" or not?
Is there any efficient way to manage Broken Links (External websites, topics within projects, and so on) in RH? We have 500+ topics.
I've installed an eval copy of RH 2019.0.9 and used it to upgrade two Help projects that I've been maintaining in RH10. The upgrade of the first project seemed to go smoothly, but I've run into two issues. The skin I've been using in the RH10 project, which as a .skn extension, was not converted. Is there a way to convert this skin so that it is available to me in RH2019? When I generate output files all most all of the topic in my PageHelp folder fail to generate. I have 55 .htm files in the PageHelp source folder, but only 4 .htm files in the PageHelp compiled folder. All other source files appear to be generated as expected. The upgrade of the second project has these two issues (at least that I've noticed so far): Again, the skin for this project was not converted. When I choose Output Presets, none are listed. With the first project, four Output Presets options are listed, including WebHelp, the format I've been using for both Help projects. Thanks in advance for any guidance
Hi guys, I suddenly have a new issue on Robohelp 2019. I'm using the new UI, with the Indigo skin. I can't pinpoint when this issue started, but it seems to have been there since Update 8 already. Work published before that doesn't seem to have that issue. Anyway, the problem I have is that there is a blank piece of nothing above the first line in my topics now. As an example, it used to look like this: And now it looks like this: When I inspect the empty space, I see Robohelp has created a blank div called <div class="topic-header-shadow"></div>. I don't know where it comes from or how to fix it. My master page hasn't changed and there's no space above any of my topics. It's a new issue and it's on all my topics. If I scroll down the text on screen does occupy that space. It looks bad. Anyone with ideas?
Hello, I need to re-install RoboHelp 2015 onto my work computer, as that is the version my company has purchased a license for. I was told to post my request here by an Adobe Support member in order to receive the installer for this program. Thanks!
Hi there,is there a way to change the language of the application (i.e. the Robohelp user interface)? I installed it in English, but after having installed the latest fix today, the interface is in German (which is not critical, as I am located in Germany, but it is confusing for me). I am running RH 2019 update 9 current fix. The new UI changed the language, the classic UI is still in English.RegardsKarin
Can someone tell me how to have changes to graphics be automatically updated in RoboHelp 2019?I made a change to a graphic, saved it with the same name in my graphics folder, and was expecting updated graphic to show in my RoboHelp source file. It didn't show, so I had to reinsert it. I just switched to RoboHelp 2019. Are graphics not linked? Thanks,Michele
I'm using the latest RH 2017 (13.0.2.334) and Office 365 with Word version 1908 (build 11929.20300) When I generate a topic to a printable output doc, one of the dialogs comes out huge. More than 16 inches tall huge! In RH, the image's size properties are normal and simple. They look like this: The HTML code also looks normal: <p class="Figure"><img src="dialog_construct_width_feature.jpg" alt="" style="border: none;" border="0" /> </p> <p class="Caption">Construct Width dialog box</p> This is happening on maybe ten to fifteen images out of thousands of images in this Help project, but it's enough post processing that it's starting to become a headache. Any ideas on how to resolve this without resorting to my current post-process step? Thank you in advance!
This is where a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I am trying to set up a multi-lingual project in a test environment - as a new user to RoboHelp. Today I have changed something and I cannot figure out what that is, but when I publish now, I no longer get the homepage displaying just a sad face. In another post today, I have been trying to figure out how Breadcrumbs work. I don't know if it is related, I have changed some file names and changed them back after this happened. I can build the English version ok but have issues when building the French one. I have compared the Output Presets - General - Content - Layout - all match up. If I click on Home from a topic it takes me to the Home page ( or page that I expected to open as the home page but doesn't) I have fiddled with the HTML code as I was trying to get the French version Home page breadcrumb to display as 'Page d'accueil' - I have since changed this back to Home. I have attached the index.htm file as a .pdf f
Hello, Currently we are on RoboHelp 2015 and want to upgrade to RH 2019 (not sure if it will be "Classic" or not?), and I was trying to learn more about the Sharepoint version control option (We use Visual Studio 2013 right now). Does anyone know if Robo 2019 works with/or is a fully supported Sharepoint Online?
I have the latest RH 2017. The current topic I'm in is a print-only topic, ultimately for a readme.pdf file. It has a bullet with a link to the Help file in case users are viewing the .pdf online, they'll be able to go to the Help. The Help resides in a "help" sub-folder under where the readme.pdf resides. Here's the code for my link: <li><p class="BodyText">Internet Connection<br /> (Either this computer or another computer on your organization's LAN needs an Internet connection. You can point non-Internet computers to an offline cache location on your LAN. For information, see the <a href="help/Universal_Updater_help.htm">Help</a> documentation.)</p></li> The problem is that the link is completely removed when I generate the .doc. There is no online CBT in play and the SSL's "Retain hyperlinks" check box is marked. In the generated Word doc, if I hover over the word "He
I'm hoping that we can share/co-author a RH project by uploading it to OneDrive. Is that possible?
I have been using RH10 for several years now to generate WebHelp for two of our products. We have noticed that when we open Help while running these products in Chrome on a Mac, the Index and TOC are empty. Blank. This was not always the case, but I cannot pinpoint exactly when the problem started. The Index and TOC render fine in Safari on the Mac and in Chrome on Windows 10. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Can anyone suggest a solution? Might upgrading to RH 2019 be the answer? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
I am using Robohelp 2019.0.8 to generate a merged help project. I have the parent project successfully set and "holding" all the individual child projects. After I open a child project and make changes to the project, I want to do a quick generate to view the changes and confirm that are as expected; however, today, after successfully doing this many times before, when I open any child project in this merged project, I do not have any output presets displayed, although all options were available before. When I try to add any preset output and save it for a project, I get the less than helpful general "Applicaton Error" message and I am told to close and restart RH. I have done that, I have rebooted my system, and then restarted RH, and nada, zip, zilch. I cannot generate any output of any format for any child project. I suspect that there is some type of preset file that got corrupted (and why it would have is beyond me), but I wouldn't even know where to look for this file and ho
Most of the posts I've found in the forum related to natural language search (NLS) date back to 2008 or earlier. Can anyone fill me in on the current status of NLS and RoboHelp? A client has a requirement to support (NLS) in online help output. During development, we have been delivering Responsive HTML5 help from RH Classic (2019) version. The client tests by searching on a phrase, for example, "What is xxxx?" and either gets no results or doesn't find the results acceptable. I've seen some posts that RoboHelp Server supports natural language search, but others that say it was removed at some point (2008?). The Adobe Features page for Server 10 doesn't mention NLS, but mentions "extensive search features" that seem to be the same as RH Classic and RH 2019 (New). As far as I can tell, NLS isn't offered by any help authoring tools I've researched so for. I'm supposed to talk to a client representative on Wednesday about this, and need
