RH 2017 RHTML context-sensitive help web app integration problems

Sanitizing PDFs manually from WebHelp input (or worse)

Long story short, right now (soon to change) I have zero control over the Development of PDFs sent to my group. Sometimes, they’ll download them from our output, and edit them... and we Have had folks paste PDFs from output in to input. It sucks, the process is changing and we are migrating to version control, RH server, and switching to HTML5. For now I need what little I have to make it to the finish line.How can I manually remove coding and text searching from a PDF (we have adobe acrobat x) ? I don’t exactly know what RoboHelp does to. PDF when it generates so I’m lost on what to change. Basically, I just want to make sure that before anything goes in to the project files it is washed... because I have no clue where the PDF came from the only place I have control is right before we import. Do I turn off text searching? Is there a way to see code and delete it?

Robo 15 Responsive - viewing changes and publish sequence

I have a merged project (currently 25 projects merged, approx. 1000 topics)using RoboHelp 15, MSIE 11, Windows 7 ENT.  Couldn’t find an answer when Isearched forums or experts, did I miss it? No worries regardless. Thanks forany help.When I publish changes to my Responsive HTML content, I see most changesimmediately.  HOWEVER, will some changes be delayed (such as changes to js ordynamic content filter or system files)? Do some changes have to be forced bydeleting the old content? Is there a recommended sequence for publishingchanges to Responsive HTML ?  If I must delete old content when updating js or system files would this be thesequence?1. Delete target (child) project from output folder2. Re build content/feature in target (child) project and save/close3. Delete parent project from output4. Delete merge from parent project5. Why font size is different in my CHM file?

I have been using RoboHelp 2017 and dealing with the following situation: I have a help with certain topics that show different font than applied to it. I can't understand the reason because I have been using the same Styles and Formatting applied to all topics, but only some of them have this discrepancy. I will illustrate it to make it easier to understand. This is my list how it appears when editing my topic in RoboHelp (correct font size);However, when I generate a Microsoft HTML Help output (CHM file), this is how the same text appear:I don't know how it happens and only on some words... If the same style is applied to all sentences... Maybe someone can help me.. I am trying to fix it. Thanks in advance!

Can we track in Rohobelp 17 HTML5 how the users are consuming the content?

Hi,We have developed a responsive help with Robohelp 17 HTML 5. Now, we want to know if we can track anyway how the content is being consumed by users? Say, can we add a Like button, for instance, which indicates the content is found useful by the users? Or how many users are coming to the page and liking the content on the page? If we can add a feature such as a Like button or anything else that helps in tracking, can you please mention the steps to include the same in a responsive help created in Robohelp 17 HTML5?It would be helpful if anybody can provide answer to this.

How to highlight topic in navigation bar

How do I make the topic highlighted in the left-side navigation pane when the topic is accessed directly from the application (and not simply by searching the topic within the help file)? For example, in the screenshot, I accessed the contextual topic from the application page, and the topic is highlighted in left-side navigation pane. No matter what I do, I can't seem to figure out how to do this in RoboHelp, and I cannot find any "how to" on the internet.

How to move a logo to the right side of the header and resize the image box - Customized Responsive HTML 5 Layout - RoboHelp 11

I created a customized HTML 5 Layout based on the Theme1_Standard layout.  Our logo is rectangular and will not fit in the default image box.  I want to move the logo to the right side of the header.  I don't see how to do this in the Layout Customization dialog.  Is there a way to do this in the html code somehow?  By the way, the logo looks great in the desktop and table Preview from the Layout Customization dialog.  It is the correct size and the header title adjusts to the right so that there's enough space for the rectangular logo. However, in the phone preview, the logo is tiny.  And when I generate the Responsive HTML5 single source layout with the new theme, the logo is tiny in the Chrome preview, even for desktop.Thanks.Gina

How do I center a logo in responsive templates?

Hi there!I am trying to center the logo in the indigo template on the header of both the master page and the topic page. I am modifying the scss files directly, and cannot figure out where in the code to modify the position of the logo. Does anyone know? Note, I figured out how to nudge the logo left and right, but I want the image locked in the middle. Thanks!Stephanie

RH 2017 - Templatizing your PoC

Hi,I have a help system in RH 2017, where I am using Responsive HTML5 format/output. I have done some customizations, changes to the CSS, master page, header logo, added dynamic filters, and so on so forth. This however is a PoC.I want to roll it out/apply it to an actual production help, which is currently in a web help format.Is there anyway to make a template from the PoC and then apply/import the template on to an existing web help? Or does it need to be redone?

In IE11, Nav pane is not updated when the user hits the BACK button

I'm using IE 11 and RH2017, and when a user clicks through the help files, then hits the BACK button on the browser, the main frame with the help page reverts to the prior page, but the Navigation pane remains unaffected.

Can I copy or export the data displayed in Topic List Pod?

Using: RoboHelp 11 on Windows 10.I inherited a very large help project that contains a lot of information that does not need to be in the help. The project contained 1 TOC, and we have determined that some entire sections of the TOC can be removed.  I have also discovered, however, that many topics are linked to multiple places in the TOC. When I open the HHC file for the full TOC in Notepad++, there are over 40K lines when all is expanded.I have created 2 TOCs from the original (OK, I've really made 5, but 2 is fine for the purposes of this question). 1 has all of the books I want to remove, and the other has the books to keep. I have adjusted my Topic List pod to display the File Name, Title, and TOC Name.Using this, I feel I can safely delete all files that are only in the Ins TOC, but not the ones that in both Ins and Training Guides TOCs. I also want to delete the files using Windows Explorer and not have the RH Project open while I do this. <Please tell me if this is the

I'm having an issue after migrating and generating the project in HTML5 the menu and views appear but not scrolling in the browser, so I'm able to see only partially all views.

I have included a Share Page button with my Responsive Help and am using JavaScript with window.location to generate an email with the current page URL. The problem i'm having is that the email only uses the URL up to a certain point. I publish to SharePoint and JS only adds the URL up to the .ASPX and does not include any of the data RoboHelp 2017 adds to the URL.Topic URL (Example)https://xjhydmyethwslzvtzjwvofevshoewk /topic.aspx#t=topics%2Fxjhydmyethwslzvtzjwvofevshoewk %2Fc_xjhydmyethwslzvtzjwvofevshoewk .aspxEmail Generated URL (Example)https://xjhydmyethwslzvtzjwvofevshoewk /topic.aspxAlso, when I copy and paste the link to Excel or Word and navigate to the site from the URL it goes straight to the home page instead of the topic page.***After further review, it appears to be a Internet Explorer issue. Print button not working in WebHelp

Hello,I am using RoboHelp 2015 Version 12.0.04.460I am creating WebHelp output using the Orb skin. I have a Print icon that I add to the skin. I'm having several problems:When publishing the help, the Print selection in the Toolbar Buttons window on the Navigation page in WebHelp Settings no longer appears. It did several months ago. I do not know when it quit appearing.When I recreate a older, updated module where I was able to select the Print option, the Print icon in the compiled help does not work.Any help is much appreciated. Setting to Change Width of Topic

In the past, I imported several Word documents to create topics for my RoboHelp project. Recently, I had to import a new Word document, using the same Word template I'd created. However, when I imported it, I noticed that once imported, that topic width was only half of that of the previous topic. Why did this happen? Robohelp 2017 Crashes on Selecting Version Control

When selecting Version Control to open a project. Then selecting the sharepoint option, and hitting OK, robohelp just freezes, then crashes. In event viewer I get the following error:Faulty Module name: KERNELBASE.dllI have wiped this machine and started from scratch, but nothing is helping. Do anyone have any ideas?

Hello all,In Robohelp, I added 5 new topics to an already existing HTML file, but when I publish it to chm file, I cannot see the new topics in chm.however they are present in html in robohelp . also when I search the topic in Search - Type in the keyword to find: I can see the topic.Plz guide.

RoboHelp 2017 Create Review PDF Crash

Help! I have a project that is getting to be large. When I attempt to create a review PDF for a single, or for that matter any topic in it, RoboHelp thinks for a few seconds and then closes without any sort of warning. I'm able to create review PDFs in other larger projects and have been able to do so in this project in the past. And no, I cannot share this project.Any ideas?  I have Adobe TCS 2017.1 running on Windows 10 Creators Thanks,Ken

ExtendScript: Import HTML File returns false

Hey,I am new in using ExtendScript. I have to convert an old documentaion to RoboHelp and i wanted to use scripts for that. But acutally i am stucking at import a HTML file. I use the method Project.importHtmlFile (see my code below) and the script throws no error. But the file will not imported in the project and the method returns false (see my console output below).Has anyone an idea, what i am doing wrong? Or is there a way to get more informaiton about the fail? Conditional Build Tags automatically appearing

I'm running RH 9.0.2.271 on Win 7, 64 bit machine. I have this procedure in the WYSIWYG editor, and I want to mark the yellow icon (highlighted in yellow below) with the Online conditional build tag (green hash highlight):So, I select that CBT, and so far everything looks fine in the WYSIWYG editor. However, if I go to the HTML editor to check the HTML and then go back to the WYGIWYG editor, it's screwed up and looks like this:Notice that the conditional online text is automatically covering steps 4 and 5 in the procedure. I thought this bug was supposedly exterminated in build 9.0.1, but seems to be happening... for me anyway. Any solutions to this? I've tried numerous ways of applying the CBT to that icon and it still ends up spanning the following two paragaphs.

I am new to RoboHelp and have taken over a project from a former co-worker. I need to export the finished RoboHelp project to FileZilla. Can anyone please tell me the easiest way to do this? I need to place the finished RoboHelp in FileZilla so co-worker can upload the file to a customer's server. I've tried doing this and continue to get errors stating there is missing information (images).Please help.thanks

Search Result Widget is not Allowed in Topic Screen Layout Page

Hi,I am trying to output a HTML5 help file and am receiving the following error message:It is also adding this search option to the help file, which didn't exist before:This help file has been generated numerous times in the past, with no problems. However, i am new to the company and am working on a different computer to the previous technical author, could this be the problem? No settings concerning the layout/output have been changed or interacted with in any way.I am using Robohelp11, on a Windows 7 (64-bit) operating system.All i can think is that the issue is due to me being a new user (permission based), or it's because the help file is being generated from a new computer?Many thanks in advance for any help you are able to provide with this.

Using Conditional Build Tags in 1 Project for Many Customers (How to Hide Source Files?)

Hello,I created 1 project using WebHelp and Conditional Build Tags to generate help for our different customers. I apply the Conditional Build Tags to different drawings in the project so each customer can only see the drawings for their particular "flavor" of our equipment. When I generate the project, it works fine.Here is the problem...All of the drawings remain in the project output folder (SSL folder) that I have to distribute to the customers.  Someone actually poked around in the folder and asked me about the files for other customers. 1. Is there a way I can tell RoboHelp to only put the files that I need in the output folder for each customer?2. If there isn't a solution, can you tell me what software application you would use to generate help or training information for many customers with the ability to hide some information.Thank You
