Hello, I am using the Ocean layout in the 2017 release of RoboHelp (v13.0.0.257). My question is about how I can insert a [>] symbol to separate breadcrumbs text that is now running together, as shown in the image below.I have actually done this already in a previous project using the same layout, but I cannot remember how I did this before.
1. First of all make a clean simple Word template. To do that,Modify the default paragraph styles that you cannot delete them, like Headings,Create new paragraph styles for each line of your multilevel list/s and name them rationally (don't make list style, just for each level of your multilevel list define an individual paragraph style),Delete the extra paragraph styles you don't need them (for those you cannot delete it's better to remove from Quick Style List). So at the end you will have something like this:2. Now in RoboHelp:Modify the default CSS sheet or create a new CSS and define all the paragraph styles you need and are NOT part of the multilevel list like Headings and Normal. You can do it by modifying those styles that already built or by creating new styles. It is better to use the same names you used in your Word template (other wise there might be problems in auto mapping later so you need to map them manually). It's not necessary to have exactly the same cha
Hello, has anyone encountered this type of problem ?I use a Robohelp project with tfs source control and after the latest upgrade of Robohelp, error messages are always display when i use the publishing web help (chm) as shown below :thank you for an answerMC
Using Indigo layout with merged project using RH 2017 and just downloaded newest Indigo layout in hopes of fixing search not finding results consistently in Chrome and Edge. I thought maybe it was because the New Indigo layout is not displaying the "Include all words in search" option. Any idea of what I am doing wrong?
Hi, I've finally upgraded from RH10 to RH2017. WootI've set up my screen layout (Charcoal Grey), but there are some elements that I understand I'll need to get into the SCSS to change. I've watched Willam's "Get Geeky with SCSS" webinar, which was very helpful. But I have a total newbie question:Does making changes in the SCSS overwrite changes made in the RH layout editor? I think they both write to the same layout.css - what is best approach? Thanks,Laurie
Hello,Our company has been experiencing issues with the context sensitive help loading over and over again when opened. We are using RoboHelp 2017. We are hosting our help online on our password protected website. We would like the context sensitive help to open the website page. We do not want to include the help in the program files to be called locally, because we would like these to be password protected for licensed users. The issue seems to stop happening when we remove the + query code in the topic.js file, but then our pages are cut off.We were experiencing issues with the banner below appearing on our pages, but we added a script to the topics to prevent this banner from appearing.<script type="text/javascript">function checkHelpWindow() {if(window.self === window.top) {rh._.redirectToLayout();}}(function(){rh.model.subscribe(rh.consts('EVT_PROJECT_LOADED'), checkHelpWindow);}.call(this));</script>This doesn't seem to have any effect on the looping, because whether
I have seen this issue mentioned before with no resolution, but I'll give it a try:My team has RoboHelp 10 using Microsoft Team Explorer for Visual Studio 2012. When we open an RH project through version control and publish it, we get an error message: “Critical error of Source Control Provider. Please restart IDE”. However, we can just close the pop-up and the publishing continues without fail. Subsequent publishings while the project is open doesn’t get the error message, but if we close and reopen, the first publishing gets the message back. Why would that error message appear just once, and why is it critical if the connection to the server is not broken and there is no other problem?
I am working in RoboHelp 2015 on a legacy help project so this is not a new help topic. For some reason, when I click on the drop down link nothing appears, but when I preview the topic, or compile it there is text present. I can see the HTML also. How can I get the text to display again.
Hi. I have noticed a problem viewing Responsive HTML5 output in the Edge browser (RoboHelp 2017). When you expand the Table of Contents (TOC) so that it fills the full height of the page, and then point the cursor at the last entry in the TOC, the displayed popup obscures the TOC entry. I understand this is standard behaviour for the Edge browser, but I wondered if there is a way to avoid this behaviour, perhaps by adding some padding to the bottom of the TOC. Any advice would be appreciated.
When I import a topic from another project, what files will end up being imported. Is there a way to ensure that only the one file is imported (I have stripped all pictures out of the topic). I don't need the CSS file. It appears to be importing more than one document, but I cannot see what else is being imported.
We have a table in a dropbox where I created a table style. When you add the table and table style in the dropbox, the table looks great. When you Preview the topic, the table in the dropbox looks great. When you generate the Webhelp(Pro) output, the tables in the dropboxes no longer have borders anywhere when there should be borders for every row and column. Is there a specific way to define table styles (a specific order like whole table first, then first row, etc.) to make them display properly? For example, if I try to apply all borders for the "whole table" sometimes the lines appear in the "table style preview box" and sometimes they don't. It seems like the more I try to get these defined properly, the more the tables get messed up. I've even changed a table style and had it mess up another table style even though they are independent of each other.
Hello, everyone!I am a very new Robohelp user, so this is probably a painfully easy question--at least I hope! I am working on a project and currently only two of the topic icons are appearing on the main page of the Indigo layout, despite the fact that I have 5 topic tiles chosen in the customization settings. Why aren't new topics I have created appearing there? Do I have to select those manually, and if so where do I do that? Any and all help is vastly appreciated!Thanks,-Keeley
I am working with RoboHelp 2015 (12.0.4.460) I have some legacy projects for chm help. I don't actually know how old the project files are. There are images in the topics with hyperlinks to other topics. The links are displayed in auto-sizing popups. In one project, everything works just fine. When you click the hotspot, the popup opens adjacent to the image. In the other project, when you click an image hotspot, the popup opens at the top left of the topic pane. That's awkward, but usable, if the original topic is short enough. But most of these topics are long, and the popups are off the visible frame. When you try to scroll to them obviously they are dismissed. So that content is unreachable. I have compared the html code for the image maps and the eHlpDhtm.js files in each project. There doesn't seem to be any difference that could explain the different behavior. Interestingly, the location issue relates only to popups called by image maps. If there are other
I am using RH 11 and am trying to figure out how to use the NOT boolean operator in my WebHelp out.For example, when I type "Body NOT text" (no quotes), I get the following message:"The words you typed is not a valid expression."Am I doing something wrong here or does this not work? Thanks,Mack
Hi All - I just realized in my Responsive HTML5 output that my TOC isn't behaving the way I anticipated.I am using Robohelp 2017, with the Indigo Layout. My Issue: I have a single topic page (e.g. "Getting Started") that is placed in multiple books within my TOC. Navigation from my Indigo homepage always defaults the TOC on the right of my topic page view to display the first iteration of the topic. Using the TOC structure below, if I were to navigate to 'Book 2' from the Indigo homepage and then select the 'Getting Started' topic, the topic page opens correctly, but the TOC on the right shows the structure as being under 'Book 1'. It always defaults to the first iteration and I don't know why?Book 1Getting StartedTopic 2Topic 3Book 2Getting StartedTopic 4Topic 5Book 3Getting StartedTopic 6Topic 7Is there a work around for this? My TOC and topics are organized by role at my organization and then as the user drills down it becomes more specific. Several topic pages are shared by multiple
Hi, is there anything I can set up in my FM files that will allow for the RH import to assign an image class to all images so that I can use the new thumbnail functionality?Currently all screenshots in FM are imported by reference in anchored frames, anchored at the end of a step as Below Current Line. If it helps, most of these anchored frames are conditioned as "screenshot", as there was a time that I was hoping the client would agree to hide them in the help output. But they are not in their own paragraph - they are either added to a step or a body style.I'm hoping there's some way that this can be easily/globally implemented without having to restructure how all images/anchored frames are inserted. Thanks,Laurie
Hi all, I've gone through all image-related discussions in this forum, as well as Preparing Anchored Frame for conversion in RoboHelp – Adobe Technical Communication Blog. I've been inching closer but still not quite there. Here's the story:Legacy project in FM8 - gifs inserted into anchored frame below line at 175DPI (this worked best to fit the entire screen in, and at the time there was only PDF output, help was added much later).Over time I gave up on TCS1 conversion and started importing into RH10. For screen shots I would just copy the original gifs over the generated output, this was acceptable quality. Not sure what changed or when, but this no longer works, even the copied gifs are displaying poorly.I now have RH2017 and have been experimenting.FM8 > RH2017:Clear “Use Distiller to Generate Image” and “Do Not Regenerate Images”, set Width and Height to 0. Images come into RH at desired size and look great in the editor, BUT in Preview and in generated output there is blank sp
We recently updated to Robohelp 2017 and the first time we tried publishing to our server, we got this popup error for a picture in a topic "Publishing has been cancelled. Failed to create file: file.png". We moved this picture into the same folder as the topic, and this error went away? This same error then came up for the next picture. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
I have RoboHelp 2015 V12.0.4.460I'm creating a TOC. When I drag the folder from Project Manager to the TOC window, the order of the topics is changed. I want them to stay in alphabetical order as they are listed in the Project Manager window. I've gotten it to work before, but can't seem to for this folder. All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks,MDawn
Using RoboHelp 8 and Word 2007, whenever generate a Word file, the prints every page in the project, but it numbers the pages in Word as odd: 1, 3, 5... Now, when I export to PDF, it shows all pages---1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...--but all the evern pages are blank. What could be happening? Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone!I'm new to RoboHelp but will be taking over the primary help text authoring duties at my workplace in a couple of months. I've been learning a bit of RoboHelp on my own, but I learned yesterday that there may be some training dollars available for me to take an actual RoboHelp class. I'm interested in learning everything I can, but with the intent to publish a lot of content in the Responsive HTML5 output. I have no background with HTML, CSS, etc. I found a few courses through searching the web, but I am a bit in the dark about which one would be the best. Given my goals and level of experience, does anyone have a recommendation? Either from the list I have below, or another course that you know of?Thanks for your time! I'm running RoboHelp 2017. When I generate WebHelp and view it locally, Search works fine for all search terms, but when I view it on the server after it's integrated in our application, it no longer works for all search terms. For example, I can search on bank account and chart of account structure, and the search produces results. But when I search for use tax, the search produces no results, and the search freezes. I get the same results in Chrome, IE 11, Firefox, and Edge.I've installed update 2 for RH 2017, and I've made the changes to whthost.js to fix the table of contents.
I am decoupling online help from our product-- it is important that the help version number (my online help, not the RH version:) be embedded in a manifest file that is extracted from a string within a topic. I am open to work-arounds too as long as the build number can also be picked up from the manifest text file by an external application.Does anyone have any experience with this or ideas if it will work and if it could be integrated as part of the build compilation moving forward? Thanks!
