Hi,I'm using Robo Help HTML 10.I'm a developer that needs to automate the help build process as part of our CI process. I've installed Robo Help HTML 10 on our build server, and it builds the help fine. But, when using the RHCL tool:<path>\RoboHTML\RHCL.exe <path>/C4.xpj -o desktop_1it crashes with a message "RHCL.exe has stopped working". The last line in cmd is: "Processing index data..." It does succeed to create PART of the desired output - but, for example, the index.htm file is missing.Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks
Hi, all.I have imported a word document into RH11 in win7 environment. In Word, the document creator used the Word graphics tools to put outlines around graphic elements of particular interest. When I import the Word document, those outlines are imported as separate graphics files and I can't simply drag them into place. Is there a way to get RoboHelp to import the graphic in one piece? Thanks.
This was a problem in earlier versions of Robohelp, and is a problem again in RH 2015. I have applied the latest patches. I am running RH 2015 on Windows 7. Is there a patch available? Steps to recreate:1) Login to the application.2) Access Help3) Click on Search icon in Help 4) Type any phrase and click search icon5) Notice with IE10 it is showing 'No Topics Found', but the same search returns result with IE11 and ChromeExpected result: Help document Search works in IE10
I'm using RH 2015 and importing files from a large project into a smaller project, these files use topic keywords for indexing. When looking at the index pod and/or hhk file you don't see the index keywords listed but when looking at the properties for a topic you do see the topic keywords also in the html code you see the topic keywords as <meta name="MS-HKWD" content="bill of material, obsolete" />. How do you get the topic keywords to show up in the index pod? I don't have time to add each of these again.
How can I autonumber the TOC entries within a given book?I'm new to RoboHelp, am running RoboHelp 2015.I'm listing steps in a process.Example:Step 1: Get out some breadStep 2: Open the peanut butterStep 3: Apply peanut butter to breadI've figured out how to apply multi-level list to the headings on the topic pages. So on each topic page, I've successfully formatted autonumbered headings on the topic page. But in the Table of Contents, I have only:Get out some bread.Open the peanut butter.Apply peanut butter to bread. How do I have the TOC entries themselves autonumbered? Thanks much!
Is there an audit function in Robohelp, please? One that would enable us to see who has worked on a topic? Thanks in advance,MAM
Folks,I apologize if this has been hashed out before. In a previous post in 2013 about project files on a server, the answer was that no RH versions before RH 10 is supported in any way with working project files on a server. We are using RH HTML 10 with the project files on a server. So based on this reply I would then assume that this is now OK. However, when we attempt to move a whole folder to become a sub-folder of another folder RH stalls and then when we have to stop RH and start again, the sub-folder's topics are all with the red X. What we have done to get around this is to create the sub-folder and then move the individual topics to the sub-folder. That works OK, slow going but it works. I have 3 questions please:1. Is this normal for RH HTML 10?2. Is there something we can do to stop the freezing when we attempt to move a folder to become a sub-folder?3. My concern is that if we do all this work with individual moving topics and then RH freezes are we going to loose all the
Hi all,Using Multiscreen HTML5 (RH 11.0.0.179) if you click on a table of contents entry towards the bottom of the list, the ToC jumps back to the top of the ToC, so you have to scroll back down to see the selected topic and other topics around it.We've modified the skin so the ToC pane is a fixed height and has a vertical scroll bar.Is there any way to make the ToC stay down the bottom where the selected topic is similar to the Webhelp ToC? Or make make the selected topic display at the top of the ToC pane? Thanks,Amber
Hi guys,I have a weird one for you.Using RH11, producing Multiscreen HTML5 (desktop layout only).I have a Test web server and a Production web server.Accessing the Production web server using the web address in Chrome, the search highlighting works as expected. Accessing the Test web server using the web address (http) in Chrome, the search highlighting does not work. However if I access it using the file server and open in Chrome, then the search highlighting does work correctly. If I use Internet Explorer 11, the search highlighting always works correctly.Does anyone have any ideas of what might be causing the search highlight to fail when accessed on one web server using the web address in Chrome? Or troubleshooting tips - I have no idea where to start? Thanks,Amber
So in short I have RoboHelp HTML 9.0.1.262. I'm generating WebHelp with new translations but the translated table of contents doesn't work.So here are the details. I tried generating the source (English) webhelp with the language set to the target language (French). No problem. I opened the project with Help & Manual 2 GO as my server, and everything looked fine. The TOC worked fine. Then I copied over the translated documents (only .htm, .hhc, and .hhk files, no others) from my translation tool (memoQ) into the RoboHelp project folders, replacing the English files. I then recompiled the webhelp, but the TOC sub-items will no longer expand. The Index and Search still work fine. I tried some experiments. I tried replacing only the .htm files with the newly translated files but not replacing the .hhc and .hhk files. That worked fine. The content all appeared as French except for the TOC, and the TOC worked as normal. The only problem was that it gave me a warning in RoboHelp that said
I am having two separate, but similar issues with merged projects in tablet/mobile view and am wondering if I have set them up incorrectly. The most perplexing thing is that everything works perfectly fine in desktop view.First off, I am using RH11 with all updates applied on a Windows 7 machine and I have a master project set up with about 2 dozen child projects stored under the Responsive_HTML5/mergedProjects folder.-----Issue #1:Upon first opening up the help system in mobile view, I can navigate to any topic in the TOC except the first topic (an introduction topic) in any of my child projects. When I hover over the topic in the TOC, I can see the link at the bottom of my browser and RoboHelp is always truncating the link destination to "Responsive_HTML5/Introduction.htm" when it should be using "Responsive_HTML5/mergedProjects/<child project name>/Introduction.htm" instead.Issue #2:Again in mobile view, let's say I am looking at a topic in guide A. Now I want to look at a top
I have a master project with several merged projects. When I publish updates to my master project, the index entries and/or TOC from the merged projects disappear from the left/navigation pane. The projects reappear if I publish them again.Do you know what causes this issue?Do you know why the index entries from the merged projects disappear, and how I can fix the problem? Is this related to the other merged TOC questions?I'm using:Version RoboHelp 2015 (12.02.384)SharePoint Server v 10Windows 7 EnterpriseBrowser = MSIE 11.0.9600.18524Thanks very much!Message was edited by Peter Grainge. Hello,We are considering upgrading to Windows 10 with Office 2016 64bit. Does RH2015 support Word 2016 64bit or does it only support 32bit?ThanksJohn
I recently purchased Robohelp 2015 and I am testing the Mobile App functionality.I have all the IOS required items, Phonegap account etc. and still at the end of the "Save and Generate" log it says this:Generating Zip...Uploading Mobile App To Phone Gap Build Server...plugin unsupported: com.phonegap.plugin.statusbarUploading Mobile App To Phone Gap Build Server Failed.Internal error encountered, Failed to generate Mobile App. Compilation complete. Is the plugin that comes with the application already outdated?Any assistance would be appreciated.Regards,Peer
If so, how would this work?
Hey guys! I'm having an issue trying to rename the panes in my project in Robohelp 9. I have the project itself renamed (as you can see in the top left)... I finally figured out how to rename the window that is output in the .chm (Project Set-up > Local Window > Properties), but I still have all these panes in the project with the wrong name. Does anyone know how to update those? Thanks in advance!
Hello,I have two issues with my merged help.I've gotten everything to merge but now RH is stripping out the custom CSS file in the child projects in the generate folder. As a result, when I view the child help, the custom graphics are missing and the text styling is missing. I can add the CSS file back into the child project in the generate folder but that is a maintenance nightmare. Should I use an absolute path to the stylesheet and where should the stylesheet reside? Fixed. Needed to click Apply to All Topics in the WebHelp Settings>Content Categories>Content<Default> options. The child topics have a Show link at the top left. It is not a breadcrumb. When I click the link it displays the entire child help system in the content window with the current topic active. RH is inserting some JavaScript into the body. Show needs to go away It is:<!--if (window.gbWhTopic){ var strUrl = document.location.href; var bc = 0; var n = strUrl.toLowerCase().indexOf("b
Just a quick general comment/question and I must emphasize that I don't mean any disrespect whatsoever. I just wanna share a particular (and recurrinng) pain point. More and more, every time I get into discussions regarding a "community help" content solution, the conversation invariably turns to areas like:self-authoringcommunity feedbackuser engagementwiki-like functionalityAdmittedly, my customer/partner base is rather engineering-centric (somewhat) and they love doing all their project-oriented stuff in Confluence (suppressing my disdain momentarily), but if they had it their way, we'd move all my RoboHelp content into Confluence and let the inmates run the asylum. However, I've kept everyone at bay by insisting that RoboHelp will at least offer some semblence of a compromise (commenting feature) and we'll all get the best of both worlds. But is this really true?Considering the fact that the only thing I can offer my audience is the commenting feature, which I can only use if I con
Ever since upgrading from RH 11 to RH 2015 we've been experiencing awful lag issues. Everything from opening topics to typing has a second or two lag which is unbearable after a while, and is costing us valuable man hours.I contacted Adobe customer support. The representative took over my computer and tried to fix the issue himself. He couldn't. He said it was an issue with my project, but couldn't tell me what the issue actually was. There were no such lag issues in RH11, so I'm wondering how this can be the fault of my project and not of RH 2015.I've seen other discussion posts about RH 2015 lag issues, but the only response I've seen to those is to run the project locally on your machine. I am doing this and I still get the lag issues constantly. How can I fix this lag?Edition: RH 2015Version: 12.0.4.460Project size: 200+ topicsWindows 10 ProRAM: 16GBi7-6650U CPU @ 2.20 GHzTortoiseSVN 1.9.4 - Used to version our help and keep it synced with the software, but the project is checked o
I've never seen Robohelp Server, nor have I played a user on TV (sorry, Friday brain already).I'm currently evaluating knowledge base options for a client, including using Robohelp output, with or without Robohelp Server. (If you're so inclined, see my other related post in the Robohelp HTML forum, Considering RH instead of a knowledge base tool, would love any other perspectives on those questions.)One of my client's main criteria is for multiple versions of content. They are hoping for a KB solution that allows them to pass a URL that identifies the version of the software in use, and serve up the appropriate help. In other words, use the DUCC features of RH but use a URL to pre-select the appropriate version, rather than having the user make the choice. Is this possible with RH Server? Thanks,LaurieDisclaimer: I have never used RH's DUCC features either, so I apologize for any stupid questions/assumptions in that regard.
A current engagement is to move a client's documentation to a knowledge base type solution, and we have been asked to identify and evaluate possible tools. They showed an example of a site they liked so we could discuss what they like about it--pretty standard stuff. They only want one or two people to be able to author the content, so a wiki is not needed. They thought they needed a KB because they thought, based on how their ancient help looks, that RH was only capable of screen/reference-based help (and they'd need a different tool to do task-based help!).Their copy of RH is too far out-of-date for upgrade pricing but I think it may still be a worthwhile option for project mgmt. and because a nice-to-have is responsive design which I'm not sure the KB tools offer (haven't gotten that far with them yet). The existing RH project will be scrapped, so it's not a factor to reuse that content (if ever the trash can icon was appropriate it's here). So far I've found that RH can meet the foll
RH Version: 2015 (build 12.0.3.428)OS: Windows 10, x64So, I know when you merge a chm into another chm, it adds a link in the Contents tab if that chm resides in the same folder. For example, here we're merging an Inform.chm into our Inspect.chm help. Inform.chm is tied to a plugin type component in our application and isn't always installed on every users system. If the chms are in the same folder, like this:Then in the chm, it adds in the tab:This is great, but Is there a way to do the same thing with text and links in an htm page? I want to conditionally add the text "Inform tab" between the "Measure tab" and "Report tab" text so to the user it appears seamlessly in the list of links: Has anyone done something like this? Like via scripting somehow?
I recently added a font awesome icon script to my project's master page. All topics within the project have the same master page. Is there a way, however, to add the script to the master page itself and then have it update automatically across all of those topics? Currently I have to manually add the script into each EXISTING topic, but any NEW topic automatically has the script built in.Any ideas community?
I am using Robohelp 2015. My requirement is to merge the responsive outputs of different projects into one master project. The child projects are getting merged into master project, but the individual child's filters are not working in the master project as expected.
